>>11650695I would love this idea, but... it'd be a logistical nightmare compared to Selfie Series.
For Selfie Series, the only thing customized is the head. Other than that, you chose a base body, and every single person who chose the same body as you did, gets it cast in the same colors of plastic and with the same paint apps.
On the other hand, to do a customized Seeker color scheme would need to either (A) have all the parts cast in the different colors of plastic you choose, or (B) have all the parts cast in the same, neutral color of plastic, and then slathered in tons of paint to you specifications.
If you go with option (A), you'd either need to (A-1) have all the parts on their own separate sprues to allow them to be cast in any color, or (A-2) cast the entire sprue in whatever color you want for one part, and then hope some other customer would eventually end up wanting the leftover parts in that same color.
For option (A-1), this would skyrocket the production cost astronomically by requiring every part for every figure to be molded separately. And for option (A-2) the cost would similarly skyrocket to offset all the wasted parts. There's a chance they could gate off some of the unused parts for option (A-2), but it would depend where they are on the sprue. You could also theoretically melt the leftover parts down, but that would be another major expense.
Meanwhile, if you go with option (B), just casting everything in a neutral color, then painting it all, you'd run into all sorts of problems. First, that much paint would be expensive. Second, you'd lose a ton of finer details on the sculpting as they drowned in paint. And more of the parts could have a shiny texture like you see on cheaply made customs. Additionally, any place with moving joints, low clearance, pieces that peg together tightly, etc, would be prone to lots of paint scratching off.
So yeah, I love the idea, but it would be insanely expensive, and possibly look awful.
