This is fire and I can't wait to buy the new sets, also the target demo is said to be 6-8 year olds, according to lego so why are manchildren seething so hard? This toy is awesome. I hope all themes get smart bricks. Why do they think it's cool to hate on something this awesome???

The Smart Brick shows up like a brick-shaped reality check and suddenly the whole ecosystem of manchildren realizes: oh no, this requires movement, imagination, and interaction—the three things they aggressively avoid. The meltdowns are *biblical*. “Muh minifig integrity!” Buddy, your minifigs have never bent a knee, turned a head, or participated in a single narrative. They exist in rigid neutral poses like soulless corporate mascots. The back printing could be the Dead Sea Scrolls and you’d never see it because they’re locked in a plastic sarcophagus forever. And here’s the funniest part: the Smart Brick is **good**. Loud, interactive, scenario-driven, encourages dogfights, missions, feedback—actual PLAY. Not “here’s another $160 gray slab with fake greebling so you can whisper ‘cinematic’ to yourself at night.” LEGO finally said “what if Star Wars felt like action again?” and half the adult fandom immediately went into cardiac arrest.

Yes, the tech isn’t magic yet. Lights and sounds. Congrats, we’ve had that since the Bush administration. But the *direction* is correct, which already puts it lightyears ahead of modern LEGO Star Wars design philosophy, which has been:

1. Upscale the price
2. Remove play
3. Add a plaque
4. Call it mature

A common depression symptom is to always disagree. Always argue. Another is to cover one's self in nastalgia.

This place is almost as bad.

Also, unrelated but teenagers revel in their new teenage power and will just wonder around the net dunking on people, trying to own people, trying to make people feel bad like a puppy nipping an old dogs ears.

Some people go into threads just to make people feel bad.

It's WAY more than just light and sounds though! It reacts to how you play, to different minifigures. It's practically all the stories you'd make with LEGO come to life!

Personally, i grew out of wanting gimmicks in my toys when i turned 10. electronics always increase the price and toy companies includeless shit i actually care about: parts count, articulation, accessories, size, etc.

In short, fuck gimmicks. They're always intrusive and basically exist just so a toy company can make 50-1000% more money despite the gimmick costing like 10¢ more per unit. Electronics are insanely cheap at a mass manufacturing level.

Also, fuck modern cars, fridges, washing machines, and TVs.

Like theres an actual arguement that the smart brick isn't that desirable and will just pricehike sets, but so what? we can just ignore them and if it flops LEGO will just drop it like they've done with so many gimmicks.
Lots of LEGO "fans" online are also insanely self conscious about collecting toys and has to really convince themselves that they're not toys they're "adult collectible models"
meanwhile in real life no one gives a shit, my family has tons of lego models because we just like them.
