This is a brilliant thread. I'm especially surprised by how many of my favorites overlap with OP's. I've wanted an action figure of Tex for nearly as long as I've wanted one of the Crimson Chin or Reptar. MLAATR and Robotboy had their share of toy episodes too. Both even took a whack at the "evil toyline" plot. In writing this I've also remembered the Dexter's Lab episode where he manages to get that elusive Major Liberty action figure.
>>11671484>The Velveteen RabbitMan did I read the shit out of that as a kid. What's worse was stumbling onto a similar story some years later, confusing it for the same title, and then being haunted by that story into adulthood. If you really want to endure feelsmaggeddon, go give Edward Tulane a read. It's essentially a much much more depressing take on the same general idea.
Also thank you for bringing the Small Soldiers manga to my attention. It looks utterly astonishing. The only way I can return the favor is by recommending Plares Sanshiro. It's one of those no forgotten early 80's kids anime but I've always thought the premise was so badass.
