Red/gold aren’t associated with/socially significant in China because the Chinese flag is red/gold. China’s flag is red and gold because red and gold have been socially significant in China for thousands of years. If you want a colour palette to signify China, you use red and gold (and maybe turquoise).
And of course likewise for red/white in Japan.

For my part, I think the rosters have a number of top-tier inclusions: tengumon, darumamon, hanimon, gasamon, jougamon, gin/kinkakumons, xingtianmon, the Gokuwmon line, etc. But as a China/Japan history hobbyist/autist, I’m uniquely served by these devices.
