If leaker anon is to be believed which given his track record I do he said mcfarlane was going to completely switch over to clam shells to counter act swapping and returns before losing the license. It’s interesting that page punchers seem to be getting accessories and wired capes now and the regular releases are phasing the extras out completely.

The DC Direct looks better aesthetically and probably looks more like the comic arc. But it will articulate the least - which for Flash you might care more about. Most of my DCD Flash figures are in the back rows or in static poses and I really haven't fussed with them much. But as a comic book reader still, I love some to death.

The DCUC will articulate better but still worse than some Marvel Selects and even early Marvel Legends. The DCUC Flashes are all pretty much on the same buck and he's muscular but lanky.

Both are expensive NIB on the secondary market. Even loose/used they can be over-priced.

Todd made a nice looking Kyle in blue. Why no Flash, who knows?

You could look for the translucent JL Task Force blue Flash and give him a blue power battery and the right sticker.

I now regret I passed him by at a Ross last summer when the entire lineup was at one store at S7.99 each because the rest of them looked so fucked up.

Thanks I just bought the DC Universe version one. I love metallic paint on the DC Direct but the open hand is important if I ever find a battery too. And I bought some transparent blue accessories... only to realize they might be Indigo and I'm colorblind or retarded but lol too late.

I couldn't find Blue Lantern Kyle for a normal price sadly. I'm only a casual fag for this shit so I was surprised when I as going through the list of them all saw things like TT Cyborg only and insane reprints but not actual reprints that ever appeared in media. (Joker, Blacklight, gold etc) so I just assume who ever is in charge is insane.

But you're right about the hand. On a lot of the DCD's, you have to sort of pry and carefully almost shove the power batteries in, but there is a way to hold it.

They're "M.S.G Modeling Support Goods Heavy Weapon Unit 38 Holonic Arms" Plamo from Kotobukiya on any import site. I think even BBTS now but it might be more expensive. Ignore the anime titties but if you have a stand you can even make them more like a lantern construct.

Fuck I just realized I didn't need an open hand for this but Mattels was cheaper anyways lol.

It's definitely a fair price for an original Mafex. If they were more around the 50-buck ballpark, I'd consider getting them but where I live, you can't get any Mafex under 80€. When I got into collecting, I promised myself never to pay more than 50€ for a DC and Marvel figure though and so far, I've been able to do that

Question for the thread, why do so many of you buy toys from a company you seemingly dislike? This thread has such open contempt for McFarlane that you're announcing that you're free after making one last pre-order. I like DC too, but not enough to buy toys I know I'm going to be unsatisfied with. Any insight is appreciated because quite frankly, I just don't get it.

I like the characters, where else can i get Firestorm or Deathstorm or Captain Carrot or Parallax. I may not think these are the greatest 'toys' but i think over all they look decent and with a few accessories here and there you can end up with pretty sharp figure. If i were totally unsatisified id never buy another figure. I think when people say they are leaving i think they primarly mean they are leaving this crock pot of conversation where the same people spout the same drivel each and everyday.

and it probably wont be CHEAP cheap since you'll waste money on postage trying to find things on the secondary market.
I would go to some customizer forums and also the BST and ask there for people who have effects and craps they didn't use or don't want and try that first - maybe someone will even be willing to trade you plus postage for something you no longer want who has a bunch of effects just sitting in some tackle box?

Heat the water to where it's nice and hot to the touch, but not boiling. Then dip the part in question in for 15 to 30 seconds to heat it up. See if that works. Be careful though, if you feel like it's breaking already, you may just make it worse. That's what I do when heating parts though, usually letting my faucet warm up to the hottest temperature is enough.

As someone who is able to both praise and shit on McFarlane, I feel like for most people in these threads, it's the same dilemma as for me most of the time. Only difference being that I buy selected figures (I am only buying JL members). McFarlane offers extremely poor quality for the price most of the time with the main positive factor being the character selection. I wouldn't give that much of a damn about sculpts and paintjobs (for the most part) if the articulation were great but it's just not. So buying the figures is always connected to having mixed feelings about the figures each and every time. Despite being able to get joy out of all my buys, the only figure I have where I can really say I have no issues is the Silver Age Superman. I do however appreciate that we are getting the versions fans ask for somewhere down the line but even with that, a lot of it is coming too late (like 90s Grant Morrison Flash while everyone has already bought the Dawn of DC Flash)

Basically DC fucked up the Legion so badly with a grim and gritty reboot in the early 90s, that they introduced a clone version (referred to as "The SW6" per their clone batch name) of the classic 60s era Legion roster and gave them their own spin-off book. When it failed to boost sales, they basically gave up and used Zero Hour to reboot the Legion from scratch with only the SW6 costumes carrying over for what was referred to as "The Archie Legion" by fans.

So technically the Platinum Cosmic Boy is both the SW6 clone and Post-Zero Hour reboot Cosmic Boy.

Fuck I had some sort of OCD moment and bought this guy too so that way if the weapons look too indigo I'll have someone to match it with. The seller gave me a discount on White Lantern Hal Jordon since I looked at it. I'm going to fall into a dc rabbit hole soon. I can't wait for McFarlane to be over. I just read the leaks and apparently White Lantern Batman is coming out and I would buy him but he's a chase variant and I only buy shit online.

As someone who was collecting the line since 2021, random figures were going on clearance as far back as 2021. A few were harder to get but nothing insane. It depended on the figure but most figures stayed on Amazon for quite awhile. The line was a bit easier to get than Marvel Legends basically and there were some cheap deals on some bad figures.

The Parallax/Azbat gold labels were the first signs of madness, but they were acquirable. Azbat less so.

Then the Catwoman Bulge wave was the real end of availability and some figures skyrocketing beyond reason. After that the rarity just seemed to keep getting worse and then by 2024 eventually you had to be there within a few hours to minutes of preorder drop to get the figure with some notable exceptions.

And I thought there was also a Mattel two pack but that's a YELLOW Hal and a Blue Kyle. So it must be a custom I saw as a Mattel DCUC Blue Hal. I know there are several DC Direct Blue Hals customs floating around on Figure Realm.

The DCUC Hal body/head sculpt is not hard to find cheap, used. But he's an ugly ass head sculpt. The McFarlanes are much better looking. Putting a McFarlane Hal head on that Kyle blue buck would be so much easier to do and look far better ultimately.

Someone did a stream of a Batman Beyond build; and put the figure through his poses and most everyone was impressed. These are his shots.
Guy did say that you can't pose "Terry" certain ways because of the way certain joints need to fit but that the figure otherwise poses really well.

They did a Flashpoint Cyborg build a figure wave with Barry using the Blue Beetle buck. Then they used tooling from that Barry to make Kid Flash from the Crisis on Infinite Earths Monitor baf wave. Then again for Wally in the Justice League Task Force Darkseid baf wave. Then repainted the JLTF Wally for that Gold one. The new Barry is just the Flashpoint Barry with a black outlined Flash emblem, no alt head, extra hands, and a comic.

BBTS has SOME of the Marvel on sale. I'm personally hoping that they will list the DC but I already know they can't 'announce' it or market it (which is the same for some of the other import stuff they sell). And you'll probably have to wait for that - and many collectors have no patience.

Entertainment Earth is the 'affiliate' in North America for Blokees, but all I see listed on their site is the Transformer's and weeb stuff. For all I know, they sold the Poke and Minions and it's just sold out, their search sucks ass sometimes unless you're search from a web browser (and then it comes up as an "informational post").

If you have hobby and kit shops in your area, you might ask them. I suspect Entertainment Earth can import it from the manufacturer and ship it into the USA and send it to mom and pop retailers but none of them can list it for sale on line (so no third party listings on Amazon, maybe?)

I don't get how people get away with all those obvious awful licensed Marvel, DC, Star Wars and other franchise tee shirts on Amazon if that's the case, though.

I own the Kid Flash and its a staction figure like Todd's shit from the previous decade (Gears of War, etc. and the new sports craps he keeps shitting out).
The Green Lantern looks neat but can barely stand or move.
The translucent Flash looks great on my display but it's in the back where it's back lit which is part of it.

I only own maybe four or six more? Some have never seen the light of day since they arrived from winning an auction.
These rest I have listed to sell, plan to, or have sold.
There are boomers who buy these all the time, so they are easy to flip.

I actually prefer the Alex Ross Justice figures, if that's what you're specifically wanting - and just bought a second one of the armor figures and might army build with at least four of these if I can pick up two more for cheap:

Now if you are just asking about DC DIrect, a lot of people here will tell you they are crap that doesn't articulate well, and that's mostly true but they are also a hell of lot better looking than Mattel or McFarlane.

Hard to say. I've never been outright happy with one. Every time I got one, there was a slight level of disappointment. If I had to pick, I'd pick MK11 Spawn, he's still the best Spawn he's done, despite that new classic one under the Image label that just came out.
