Anyway to answer your question, it's brand obsession. That happens. Just look at the sheer number people who just have to pay more for an Apple phone over any other, or the people who spend thousands on a Chinese-made French Hermes/Louis Vuitton purse. The brand convinces you that you NEED them on a base level.
