Copyrights can expire in as little as ten years from non-use. Hasbro once even let most GI Joe and Transformers copyrights expire, which is why when naming figures they do "agent Betty Cover Girl Mcslut" instead of just "Cover Girl."

Even if Hasbro stil owns the IP overall, they most likely lost the copyrights to everything within it. Or they got handed already-expired copyrights when they took over Kenner.

Whe Hasbro lost a lot of GI Joe and Transformers copyrights that thry let expire, they couldn't re-copyright "Jazz" and "Bazooka" (as two examples). How Hasbro was able to obtain new copyrights was to copyright them as "Autobot Jazz" and "GI Joe agent Bazooka."

They can re-copyright all of the MASK stuff the same way, so if they can't get back "Switchblade" then surely they can get back "Mayhem's Venom Switchblade."
