What do you guys plan to do with your toys before you die? Whether you don't want kids, are unable to have them, or your own kids don't share your interests, what should you do with them? I love my small collection and plan to enjoy them for the rest of my life until my time comes and when that time finally comes, I want them to make other people happy but don't know how to go about it.

I'm arranging for an elaborate tomb. Most of my stuff is going to be interred with me, like the pharaohs of old. I also will be cataloguing everything in detail for the benefit of future archeologists. The idea is they can preserve the burial relatively undisturbed as a museum space.

I was thinking on giving it to my close friends but I realized they'll also be old by that point. Fuck I don't know anon, perhaps leaving them to my family and if they don't like them just put a price so they can be sold.

Unless you actually sell them/give them away before death, you can't be sure what happens after. And even then, who gives a shit, you'll be dead.

My father died in an accident when we were toddlers, and my mom had to move cities quickly with a bunch of kids, so most of his toys collection and models ended in the trash or given away. The few things we kept we played with until it was done for, so trust me, whatever happens to your collection after you die is irrelevant.

If I do end up having kids, maybe I'll make some kind of document with photos of what everything is and a rough estimate at the time of what each item's worth so they can have an easier time selling it all if they choose to. I thought of this because my dad's also a collector and imagining dealing with all his WWII figures, comics, stamps, coins, etc. after he passes is overwhelming. But I could also end up significantly cutting my collection down as I get older and my interest in certain franchises/the hobby itself wanes, which is already kind of happening. Consideration for your family aside, once you're dead, it's someone else's problem.

I won't have kids and I'll be killing myself eventually as I can't seem to heal from various trauma. If I could safely do so I'd donate to people here but it would expose everybody to too much risk and doing, so I'll leave notes for the more expensive and rare ones to be sold by people around me have to deal with my shit,hopefully that'll get them a few thousand.
In the meantime I just try to appreciate what I've got

Not only do I find my toys awesome to look at but they're extra special to me because my family and I have bonded over them and they're going to be the only things keeping me sane (at least until I find a woman and/or pet) as I eventually lose my remaining closest loved ones.

had this thought when i was like 10 playing with Hero Factory and had an existential crisis and started tearing (not crying cos i'm a big boy) because i had no idea what to do with my toys and thought they were gonna end up in a landfill

i still haven't reconciled with this as a grown human being, mostly just compartmentalizing and enjoying my plastic in the moment. i do know toy museums exist here and there, i could donate before i went, but i have no idea if they would want it and of course it needs to be in good condition too
