PNSO announced they're joining the articulated dinosaur toy game. Looks pretty decent, though the range of motion doesn't seem very impressive. Seeing as they will be directly competing with Creative Beast, hopefully this will force David to finally improve his dogshit paint apps.

Also, fucking lmao at the dweebs at Dinosaur Toy Forum absolutely malding over this not being statueshit.

Speaking of T. rex and Creative Beast, the 2.0 they showed off on stream actually looked alright in terms of movement. It's basically what the first one should've been to begin with. Though, inevitably, it'll be ruined by the paint.

So, I PO’s 2 andrewsarchuses from Creative beast. One I’m keeping as-is but the other I’m gonna do a head-transplant onto the upcoming movie version of MOTU’s Battle Cat and mod the claws into hooves so I can have the all-but-disproven mesonychian reconstruction in articulated form. Thoughts?

Anybody else pre-order their Nanmu Rex off of BBTS?
Was curious because now that everyone else seems to be getting theirs, mine still hasn't shipped, and I wanted to check and see if that's just a "BBTS takes longer than other stores" thing or not.
I only ask because I have literally never pre-ordered a toy before and so anything even going slightly not to plan is making me paranoid that my order specifically is fucked for some reason.

Exciting stuff, hope they don't just stick to very well known species for these now that they're doing articulation. They've done so many interesting models over the years, would hate for them to start back at just basic dinos now that they're experimenting with articulation. Their water creatures and fliers have been stellar, hope we see some of them get this treatment.

BBTS will literally not get it for months compared to everyone else. They are good for guaranteed orders that you don't need to pay for until they're in, and of course the cheap combined shipping. But they make up for this with higher prices and they choose boat shipping for all their stuff to allow for the cheap combined shipping. This means while every other retailer gets stuff off a plane and to you in a few weeks max, BBTS will be much, much longer. But don't panic, totally normal.

My only real context with BBTS was two other orders I made before for SHF dragon ball stuff, and since one of those things came in and was available for normal order while it was still only available for pre-order on Amazon, I just assumed that meant BBTS was good about getting newer things shipped out faster.
Guess I just gotta be patient.

this excuse would be fine if any of these actually had decent revoltech esque articulation that allowed things like the head and neck to have really great range of motion, or the legs to actually be able to get into crouching positions etc, but they're all barely movable. I don't know why we've needed 150 releases from Creative Beast Studio before they started to improve articulation but it's annoying as fuck. Like they really could just print a few of them, and improve them, and print a few more, and improve them. Go through a few rounds of prototypes instead of selling people a hundred different releases at $100+ each before they bother.

I truly don't understand it. The entire thing is that every release is the most articulated dinosaur ever, and then the engineering for most of them means that despite being made out of 25-35+ separate pieces many of them have stiff limbs, even stiffer necks and torsos and mouths that can barely open etc. I get that for decades we had basically only dino statues but damn. It always feels like such a chore moving most of these guys around for me. At least the small ones are nice and easy and pose pretty well.

Something i've realized with BOTM articulation is that if you are rough with them you get a little bit more range. I feel people are too scared of breaking them that they don't move them to their full potential. Still not as good as something like Nanmu tho

Still new to the line and I have to agree with this. I've noticed the same, though, I am a little gun-shy after the foot peg tore off when I tried to remove it from one of my Dromeosaurus when I was just trying to change out one of the swappable feet. Granted, as far as I'm aware it's also one of their oldest figures so I suppose that checks out.
But the legs especially have way better range if you just push it a little further than you might think may be okay. Most especially in how high they can kick. The legs can go so much higher than I think most are willing to try.
Here's hoping that 2.0 Rex is successful and it makes them reevaluate how important real goddamned articulation is.
