Most I spent on a figure was 140 for SHF Frieza and I am happy with it but I definitely overpaid and would again.

The next thing I know I am overpaying on is a Chogokin Big O but gonna have too.

Paid $130 for this gorgeous, horrifying motherfucker about a year ago now. I definitely overpaid, but at the time I didn't know about Mandarake where he only seems to show up kinda rarely anyway, and Bandai had just confirmed they would be doing no re-issues of any of their previous Monsterarts releases other than a few select Godzilla figures.

Nowadays it still goes for about $100 to $120 on Mandarake when one shows up, but I've seen Western sellers charging upwards of $300 for the damn thing.

How much did you pay for it? I grabbed mine through a third party seller, since Amazon themselves had none in stock at the time. The prices for it were going up little by little each day after that announcement so I bit the bullet and overpaid.

I don't really regret it at this point though, Destroyah's my favorite Godzilla monster and the figure itself is just really damn nice.

Jeeze, man, you could get a 1/6 scale figure for that. Or the armored version of guts. Still, whatever makes you happy, man. For $130, I think I got a few 3a toys and synthetic humans. I think my most expensive toy is the hot toys marty mcfly figure for 175 ish, thanks to ordering on amiami before they stopped orders for non jap users. I think 3Zero's Kaiman figure is going to be my next most expensive at $230, and then after that i'm gonna save up half a grand to start collecting bjd.

The most expensive "toy" in my collection is the figma King Kazma. I found him randomly on Mandarake for 7000 yen because of mild box damage and since I've been wanting him for a while but didn't want to pay the $150+ he goes for on other sites I picked him up.

Ya it was expensive..but it's the only figma berserk figure I don't have in my collection right now. Can't wait for femto and the god hand. But for black swordsman guts I only see the price going up. Unless they reissue it.

If you're gonna put wire in I recommend 20 gauge. I used 18 gauge floral wire and it seems just a tad too stiff, but it still got the job done

Yeah those fuckers do that shit on purpose. The same thing happens with rare Kamen Rider Figuarts. Sellers will tag original releases of figures as their more expensive renewal versions, and Shouchakou Henshin figures as S.H. Figuarts constantly.

Plus im going to try to get some tattered ends to make it look distressed. Did you just use glue to sandwich the wire with the fabric? And on that note what kind of fabric did you use? Cotton?

It's nothing special and you can probably get it at a local hobby or fabric store. As for the fabric I'm not really sure what material it is, I bought it from a quilt store a while back and it was pre-cut and rolled up ready to buy. It might be cotton, I really wish I knew. Just make sure that the fabric you use is thick enough so it isn't see through, but not too thick like canvas or anything.
I'm gonna finally get around to purchasing the Black Swordsman Figma pretty soon here and I'm obviously gonna make a cape for him too. I might take some pictures of the process too just so other people can see

Thanks man I'd really appreciate it. I think I'm going to do a cotton cape and I'm going to burn small holes and tattered up all the edges. I'm going to try to find a way to make the Cape completely surround the figure.

For a doll: most expensive was a head for 650$, with papers and default painting ('face-up'), a Volks limited.
Later getting him a body pushed the whole price to 1200$.

Non doll-related it was the ThreeA Metal Gear Rex (the big one, first release), saw him shortly after they had started shipping out the pre-orders people had to wait for so long.
Thus, had to pay a hefty "too late" fee and I also got mine from a japanese seller.
Was 600$ + shipping from Japan and customs.
Still love him to bits though, just sad that the paint job of the Ray wasn't to my liking and that Rex will stay alone.

Planning to get a second Atlas and the Ogre as soon as it drops.

Also, does anyone else here have the Almecha 1/100 Linebarrels of Iron figure? It's JPY40,000 on Mandarake, and I've wanted it since college, but I'm iffy about dropping that kind of thing on a one-off. Anyone have any feedback on it?

It's really solidly made, the paint apps really make it look like a museum piece than anything, and you CAN open it up so it can be piloted by SHFs/Figmas/Shinkis. It has its own flaws, like its fingers are a bit too thin to hold the sword steadily in some poses and it has little ankle articulation, and its size can make it difficult to play with, but it just has so much presence. AND you can actually play with it, the joints and stuff are tough and it's not TOO heavy.

And the robes? Actual fabric that feels like they really just made brocades for a tiny samurai. And pre-weathered too. It just makes it look all the more premium.

I cut the fabric using the old cape as a template, but with a little bit extra fabric on the side edges. I then wrapped the sides over some copper wire and sewed it into place. If you're feeling bold, you can hot glue the copper wire to the plastic cowl piece that goes around his neck for extra sturdiness. I didn't glue it down on my berserker armor, so I'd have the option without a cape though.

I got lucky and got this figure off a toy store that didn't mark it up due to ignorance, so I got it for $35. I just got figma Solid Snake and can tell you that figma Black Swordsman Guts is a finer example of them bringing the product as close as they can to prototype. I'm actually really disappointed with figma Solid Snake, the sculpt is great but the paint lacks and the loose mid waist joint is just annoying. There's also either a crack on his right thigh or a stray hair caked into it.

I got distracted, I mean, figma Guts for me is a reminder of the better old days for paintjob on more detailed figmas. However, solid snake actually has some nice articulation cuts, they just absurdly decided the mid waist needs an articulation system that is functionally loose (it's 2 ball joints combined and the middle part that connects them both is loose).

As of a few hours earlier today, this. And man, I think I'm feeling the buyer's remorse already. For $200 I'd be alright with it, but at this price it's Hot Toys money for something that I doubt will be that level of quality.
Before that, the highest I paid would be either SoC GaoGaiGar, or Hot Toys Robocop with the chair, both about $280.

It was about a little over a year ago when we were actually having regular SHMA and Kaiju generals with the hubbub over the new Godzilla movie. SHMA is still a thing, it's just that Bandai intends to do no reissues of older releases and models.

I both love and regret that I got this. It's an amazing figure but I've had nothing but pieces break off. I actually had to take apart the left leg at the hip because the joint was too stiff and eventually broke. I didn't notice for a year until I tried reposing it and noticed it couldn't support weight on the left side. Still love this thing though.

Op here making an update. Guts came in this morning. The fucker that sent him to me sent it basically disassemble. Was hard as hell putting the legs back on. Never buying used again. But I got it all together and it seems to be in ok shape. Still no buyers remorse so I think this was a win. Will post pics of collection with price if interested.
