Favorite Karzahni form?

His first one (black and gold) was pretty cool, but I find it was slightly cliched. His second one (green and blue) had an original and non edgy color scheme and still looked very intimidating. His third one (set form) felt half-assed to me so I never bought him.

All this because I want to build a G2 Karzahni and I really like Umarak (and he slightly reminds me of Karzahni's second form), but I don't know if I should reuse Umarak as a base for him or if I should use Umarak for something else and build a black and gold Karzahni out of scratch.

Yeah but it most likely wasn't rigged or fucking least it wasn't another black and red mask from BZPower.

Yes it could. The joint strength of hinge plates seems to wildly vary from piece-to-piece. So with 4 really strong joints it could be viable. Still though, it's not a connection I'd personally use for anything other than elbows.

It was a life-sized mask competition. Of course the prize wouldn't go to a poorfag with a small selection of pieces or with little more than basic system elements.
Normally, I'd call this LEGO rewarding it's loyal customers, but there were many great and expensive builds that ate shit and nothing more. I don't know the winners and I've no grudge with them, but I don't think they deserved first place. Also, I thought colabs and team efforts weren't allowed.

You know Bricklink? Use that.
Look at other MOCs with skirts. Take inspiration.
If you do use LDD keep Bricklink open both to catalog what you'll want to buy and to check that the parts you're trying to use exist in the colors you're using.

The winning mask reminds me of a mix of the Daedric and Falmer Heavy helmets in Skyrim, though the physical thing does look pretty fucking neato. Looked through the winner's gallery of Lego stuff and they even have a fucking Bane mask

Third-place looks like some kind of mask you'd put on a furry bonkle if those are meant to be ears

At the start, Bara Magna was shown as wasteland where biggest technological advancements were fruit slingshots.

Honestly, yeah. I blame the 08 vehicle hype leaking into the new wave.

Although, if you think of Bara Manga as post apocalyptic, the fact that they have to resort to super primitive weapons because of ammo shortages but they still have cars lying around, it's not that far fetched.

I just wish that the vehicles were more important, and we got a society where everyone settled shit through death races as opposed to gladiator matches.

Imagine if playsets came back with a set that had Tuma riding a huge oil tanker and his Skrall riding little motorcycles.

Speaking of which, where is 2016 going to take place I wonder?
I imagine each Creature is found on its elemental region, but once they and their Toa are together the story has to shift location, like this year.
And surely next year is going to reveal something about Makuta given his mask is the focus.

Are the Toa going to visit where the Great Cataclysm took place? Are they returning to the Ancient City? And is Umarak's box art part of the Jungle Region or is it something else entirely?

I actually hope we do go to a new island that the MoUP rocketed off to, but I honestly don't want it to be Mata Nui. Something similar to the finger islands, just some small barely habitable hunks of rock would be pretty cool.

I'm betting the MoCr is located in a former lair of Makuta's, maybe we'll see more of his backstory through relics and why he loathed his brother so much.

Although it was an awkward set, I quite liked his broadness and the head they created out of Pridak's feet. So I'm gonna say that.

Also, I hated that his mask was retconned into being an ordinary mask that just happened to look like 4 different ones fused together. Would have been cool if it had 4 different mask powers, but they worked slightly erratically and malfunctioned every so often. Would highlight the fact that he's a fuckup craftsman compared to his rival, Artahka.

Where the fuck did time go? I remember it like yesterday. Going to Legoland for the first (and also last) time, seeing all the cool Lego shit, and then going to the store and seeing these big and bulky Toa with all too familiar names. Holy shit the weapons light up and they have multishot launchers and weird masks.

It wouldn't be Fire (I'm Europoor, so the line was Slizers to me, though Torch is a pretty great name) without the crotch-head. Also, city and Rock transforms, and Millenium can go from a canister sized dude + (very shitty) motorcycle to a pretty decent titan as a hommage to the original set.

yknow, it doesn't look awful. The kopaka eye is integrated well, and the connections for the pohatu flanges are smooth. But the gold looks kind of chunky--although its tough to tell with such a poor quality photo. But the general positioning of the additional parts looks--not sloppy, because you've obviously put a lot of effort into getting them symmetrical--kind of thoughtless? The pohatu parts stick out too far, I think, making it more obvious that they've been added it. Still, this is easily the best-done heresy I've seen.

I've got an interesting theory about the 2016 storyline. It gets weird, but bear with me.
Here's the key support:

>the theme for 2016 is "Unity"
Just like 2015's was "Duty," and 2017's will probably be "Destiny."
>The overall g2 storyline seems to mirror the g1 storyline
ie. they Toa arrive, have a villager meet-n-greet, go mask-hunting, get masks, and so on.
>G2's writers have a boner for Golden Age adventure fiction
Especially Burroughs. Dudes arrive in a mysterious location, find they have powers that set them apart from the natives, and go do the Thing of Destiny. The imagery is laden with stuff like planets visible in the night sky, ancient civilizations, skeleton/creepy monster fighting, ARENAS, etc. The fast-paced writing with an emphasis on "what happens" rather than "who it happens to" and somewhat florid prose are a bit more tenuous, but still there.
>Final line of 2015's animations is "their true fate was still waiting deep inside the darkness."
The diction used hints that this may not be a metaphorical darkness they're talking about (were that the case one might expect it to go along the lines of "their fate still lay hidden within/by the darkness.")
>2016's focus is on taming strange monsters in a new location with new enemies
>Umarak's BG shows lush forest backed by a massive, arching wall.
>Netflix series is entitled "JOURNEY to One"

If the G2 storyline truly mirrors that of G1's (albeit sped up), then the Toa are going somewhere new for 2016.
Most people assume that this means the Toa are traveling to a new island, or exploring the Ancient City, but I don't necessarily believe that to be the case.
Firstly, the Ancient City was pretty much played-out in the Skelly Saga. The Toa traveled all through that sumbitch and, frankly, it was pretty damn boring.
Secondly, I don't think that we really want the Toa to go to a new island. Think about it: remember how disappointed you were when G2's setting wasn't Mata Nui? (cont.)

I'll bet my bottom dollar that the devs do, too. The Toa to traveling to a new island, and having that island NOT be Mata Nui for the second time would just be rehashing that late-2014 disappointment. Too much baggage.
However, to reiterate, the story's gotta move somewhere new to stay fresh.
So, if they can't cross the sea, and there's nowhere new on Okoto to explore, where the hell can they go? What location would have everything we've seen so far of 2016 -- strange landscapes, weird creatures, savage hunters, primeval jungle, where the ballgame really changes?

How about THE CENTER OF THE GODDAMNED PLANET?! (kinda.)
Remember that G2 draws a lot of influence from classic Adventure Pulp. What four settings are archetypal of that genre?

Ekimu arms the Toa with new gear, and they set off from the Ancient City of the surface-world, through G2's equivalent of Mangaia (the Forge), and enter a primeval wilderness below the surface of the island.
This mirrors and INVERTS the progression of G1, gives us a new (and interesting) setting, opens up imaginative possibilities for the IP, ups the stakes, has a literal century of royalty-free inspiration to draw from, and (most importantly) is sick as everlasting fuck.

Ladies and gentlemen, put on your pith helmets and fire up the Iron Mole. We're going to Pellucidar.

Everything we've seen of the Toa so far has been a nod to the original sets, only much more refined and improved.

2015
- gear function for the arms that isn't loose as shit
- dual function weapons
- design elements of the Mata, Nuva and even Mistika/Phantoka

2016
- Rahkshi swivel action
- vastly improved Phantoka combining function
- Nuva symbols
- probably a seventh golden Toa on the horizon with Ekimu

as much as I like the leg design on that MOC I fucking hate the heresy to attach the feet when literally tons of legal ways to do so.

If you are asking how to build it, legs and arms are really straightforward, body is an inika torso with a Rahkshi upper body piece stuck on with technic or something, its construction should be fairly obvious.

'Sup /biog/? I come to you bearing an... interesting theory or a collection of them regarding the use of masks in gen 2, because, as of now, there's a lot we don't know about them. Well this aims to tie up a few loose ends on how exactly the masks work.

What if the masks stop the villagers from aging? They provide them with no actual energy, but instead keep their life force from leaking out of them, which keeps them how they are for however long they have on the mask. More powerful masks provide actual energy, and this energy is increased the stronger the mask is. However, the more power in the mask, the harder the shock is when they’re removed. The villagers only have strong enough bodies to support the life preserving masks, but when they lose those, skull spiders go to feed on the leaking energy that the mask kept in, until the host is powerless, allowing the spiders to take full control and use its own energy to fuel the body. The skellies have these masks as well, and use them to keep in the dark energy Grinder gave them. Skull slicer on the other hand, is an example of what happens when a skull spider gets full control.
Toa however, have the golden masks, but when those are removed, they become weaker and weaker due to the sudden drop in power input. The skeletons draining these masks quickens this process. But that’s not it. No, when they were fighting Kulta and he knocked their masks off, they were all very, very weak. That’s because their bodies were used to taking in the golden mask’s power and the drop was absolutely crippling. Also, if you’ll remember back to when they first got their masks, the narrator said they were covered in their element. That was simply the shock of the new amount of power, and their bodies getting used to it, which also allowed for a massive boost in the power they could use. Because they already had their elemental power flowing out of them.

Moving onto the mask makers, we saw what happened with Ekimu, he lost his mask and BAM he was out cold for a long ass time. Not fun stuff. The only reason he survived was because the burial mask kept the small amount of energy inside of him, and when the Toa hit him with elemental powers, it gave him a bit of a recharge, making him awaken. The MoUP is MUCH more powerful than the brother’s legendary masks, so when that was put on, the raw power mutated the host due to the power output. This power output was so great, not only does it leak out of the mask (the flames around it), but when it’s knocked off, it doesn’t stop feeding power and that power destroys fucking everything.

Now I'm not done, there's actually a way this theory could tie into 2016. The golden uniter masks (which were confirmed to be necessary for uniting) are used as a bit of a transfer point, that adds the creature's elemental power to the toa's. With the normal mask, you just have a creature on your back. and that's kinda useless.

There's a bit more to this regarding the Toa's origins, but that's the end of the main theory.

the Metru Nui Saga was an extended Katabasis; the journey (literally) downward and (figuratively-but-also-literally-in-this-case) inward for the Heroes. It was also a tonal shift from the Toa being agents of order within natural chaos to the Toa being agents of chaos within stagnant order.

If G2 is to mirror G1's progression, it will need a similar downward/inward journey for the heroes.
For the Katabasis-dyad to be complete, the journey must be to the starting point's antithesis.
Since the Toa are starting from the surface-space of stagnation/order/death, their travels must therefore take them to an /inner/-space of renewal/chaos/life.
Ergo, the setting will be a motherfucking subterranean wilderness of awesomeness and also David Innes and/or John Carter perhaps.

Fast forward to Ekimu and Makuta being K.O’d. Makuta still had that lust for power, and so, he took control of the skull spider hoards to bring him the golden masks, due to each one being a potential component of a new MoUP. And so, the toa are summoned, but the vahi generated time shift makes them lose their memories. This is why they’re basically hella buff babies, instead of half competent warriors. Any amount of bending at all damages the socket and sorta squares out it's arch of the socket. if you're using it to support the entire weight of a model like it does if its in the legs, your going to ruin the socket piece, especially the 08 style sockets, which shatter if you so much as look at them the wrong way.

Pay through paypal to individual sellers. Usually a seller will send you a paypal invoice and you pay it then. Parts arrive however they are packaged; smaller parts can be sent in padded envelopes, but to avoid stress marks on kanohi i usually specifically ask for a box.

Back in the day I started by mostly doing pallete/shell swaps. Add a few little unique bits onto the basic frame and you have a decent moc for a first try. Theres no need to attempt custom torso and limb designs if you are new. If you do though, I would suggest simply looking at designs from official titan sets anyway.

Yeah I do, and by full price I mean the inflated yuro prices. Some places have them for cheaper though (basically the same or slightly above the US price), but sadly I never quite managed to accumulate enough money for a bulk order so far, and buying only a few sets at a time just isn't worth it due to shipping.

Problem is, stocks are running low so I can't really stall much longer if I wanna get the first wave. As for the skellies, those are still a far-off dream.

The first HF sets had a totally different torso piece that had a longer and transparent version of the core. By 2.0 and 2.0 the bootleg designers just said fuck it and used the old hero core mold for a modified 2.0 chest.

In the average greek's eyes, we are forced into social, financial and national suffocation by the EU (mostly Germany) in order to pay off money that we never received or asked for, while the people responsible keep taking loans that they consume themselves. The only difference between now and a few years back is that everything is more expensive and part of the money that people will have to pay off goes to the banks so that people can take loans that they will also have to pay off.
What Greece really needs is either an exterminatus or firearms distributed freely to the lower classes.

Meanwhile the media feed PC propaganda to the masses daily about the evils of fascism that "we fought against in WWII" and the drama of the war refugees. We have no way of defending ourselves against illegals. And if we do, the state and society will come down on us. Physically, in the case of anarchists (pretty much richkid tumblrists with a license to lynch and a mood to match).

That axel needs to be one longer. You can see that it is one below the other ball joint next to it, ans you want them to be lined up to make that connection.

Also, have you tried the hinge align tool? Probably wont work until you extend the axel but it is useful, mostly

It annoys me that I can't find a good secondary color for Lewa.

All the other Toa have a secondary color that provides contrast to their primary one and is tied to their element. Gali's yellow and now orange have strong ties to Lego's past underwater adventures, Onua and Pohatu look like they're partially made of crystal, Kopaka looks great with his transparent light blue and now dark blue as well, and Tahu's gold (really, it's a secondary color for him at this point) and blue are good additions to his trans orange.

But Lewa? I tried giving his yellow back, and I just didn't like it. So I'm sticking with trans bright green, which looks good, but a bit too bland. It seems designers are aware of that, since Uxar has no bright green at all. Uniter Lewa solves the issue by amping up the silver and adding some lime print, but it feels like an half baked solution. Maybe if he was Metru green instead there would've been a lot more contrast.

So why is it so hard to find a color that looks good with green? Sorry I sound autistic, but this has been bugging me for a while, not just with Bionicle.

Actually a good idea. Especially since white 4M shells now exist, and Umarak brings longer trans bright bones that could look good as subtle accents.

Plus white = clouds.

Personally I think its fault of the bright green color, the old mata green was much better. This new green is to bright, so its hard to find another color to pair with it that isnt already bright.

Maybe dark brown?

Even though I managed to work Kopaka's gold into my headcanon, I'm excited to see him returning to silver. If I want to give him his gold back, I just have to reattach those add-ons on his legs (since I'm going to remove them) and add Melum. He can return to a more 2015-like look with two simple steps, which is great. I wonder if the designers did that on purpose.

Wow, they couldn't even stick the axles on straight. Just cut the axles off where they join, remove the glue and fix it properly. Would inserting a thin metal rod into both parts make the join more durable? Also, are they 2003 gold?
