>>5273098I had a customer ask me to do picture attached for them.
I'm not the original artist of this.
I know they had contacted me because I'm a local and they are too chicken to ship out stuff out of the country and refuse to commission artists abroad.
And yes, they wanted an "as close as possible" copy on the same pair of wings, not some "same colors and some flowers too" thing.
They got angry when I told them that I won't do that, especially because I actually follow the original artist and they follow me too on Flickr.
I also once did a really complicated commission for a DC Ada for a long-time customer of mine, together with another artist.
This custom actually got crazily popular.
Shortly afterwards someone contacted me saying they also have an Ada and want the same I did for that other person, and yes, again same as in 100% the same.
Again they got rude when I told them that I won't do this and even offered me to pay more than my other customer.
They didn't care the consequences I would have to face if I'd do such a thing, namely losing the trust of my long-term costumer and probably future work with them.
I also don't get how I sound whiny here.
I don't need such customers, I have plenty of others that are not stomping with their feet and hoping that waving around with enough money will change my mind and they get what they want.
I just am annoyed by people only thinking about their needs, no matter if it hurts me as an artist (i.e. my reputation, my creativity, my relationship towards other artists and my customers etc.) just because they think they are above rules of common decency.
