>>5278892That's not true at all. Boiling does not harm the paint, very, very rarely, and when it has happened on anything I own, it was on a Figma. The only thing you want to watch for is rubber. Never, ever use it on rubber (the flexible, stretchy kind), it will cause it to crack and tear.
And flaccid is ecactly what you want. In most cases it will let you free up the joint, ir if need be, pop it off entirely. So long as you're not dumb and force the plastic to tear.
I don't know why you guys treat this like some bizarre ritual, "boil and pop" has been a longtime tool for customizes and people buying toys.
I do it on McFarlane toys, DC collectibles, Hasbro, Sideshow, Mattel, have had to do it on a Figma, Revoltechs a lot... it's just good knowledge to have.
