Look what showed up today!

....and manages to be completely underwhelming compared to the decade old Death figure...
Least the fabric and possibility is astoundingly good, especially for a 1:12. Anybody else besides diehard 2000ad fags buy this guy?

I considered it but the incredibly imprecise hand-sculpted look it had going on, coupled with the majority of the paint detailing being nothing more than a thick, oily wash turned me off.

Really doesn't help seeing it next to that razor-sharp Bolland art either.

Eh, I'm not a diehard 2000AD fan, but I thought it looked awesome. I received mine and everyone who sees it (non-collectors) thinks it's one of coolest figures they've seen.

Personally, I like it and am excited to get a 3a Dredd to go with him, since I don't like how the Mezco version looks.

Also they re-engineered (read: sliced up with an x-acto knife) their Dredd proto, it now has some kind of rocker in the boot.

Honestly I prefer the body and gubbinz on 3A Death but the head is better in old toy biz one. Hands and feet are a toss up for me though. Honestly bought mine in the vain hope that they'd make the other Dark Judges, or at least Fear.

Toy Biz was one of the best toy companies to ever exist. Bro-tier as fuck, what with the crazy amount of articulation, detail, and paint apps they put into their figures for a very low price.
They were such a great toy company that they bought Marvel and created their own movie studio so they could retain creative control over their own properties.

Since the toy manufacturing branch was shut down, we still haven't seen any toy company match what we saw them do since 2007. Some companies are close though, like DCC and Mezco, but they fall short in certain areas, especially in bro-tier pricing.

It's impossible to have the level of pricing we saw back then. Aside from the usual inflation, we've also seen the price of petroleum skyrocket, which means the cost of plastic has also gone up. That also means the price of distribution has gone up. There's just no way we'll ever see prices like that again.

Except that also translated to over-articulation in the hands, making it so that 9/10 of the figures they released look like they had mangled Renoir hands. It's funny that with all their extravagances that they gave us, it never dawned on them to focus on swappable hands as a norm rather than pushing out figure after figure with fucked up hands that were bizarre amalgamations of fists and gripping positions but ultimately looked like neither.

Swappable hands are shit and a waste of a toy's budget. You'll get way more poses from articulated fingers than you'd ever get from a couple of pairs of hands.
I think Toy Biz struck a great balance near the end.

You're hypocritical as fuck to say finger joints are shit and have no problems with ankle, hip, knee, waist, and elbow joints. In most cases, like with the elbow and knees, a lot of the sculpt is taken off or never taken into consideration to put joints there. In some lines, tumors appear in those joints.

The LCBH Savage Dragon had pretty good hands, granted they were also oversized mitts. Next to SoC GaoGaiGar, he has probably the nicest articulated hands I've seen on any figure. But yeah, swappable hands are better unless you plan to have a character with giant hands.

And that's a problem with swappable hands, because you're always going to be limited to what the toy maker thinks the toy should come with.
With finger articulation, there's dozens and dozens of combinations, even if it's limited by the sculpt.
