Unfortunate that Pohatu's combination doesn't work quite as well. Would be great if they at least did something with those arms instead of having them just awkwardly sticking out though. Perhaps if posed right it could look like a cape or something.

Overall the new sets look pretty great. Loving all the Technic stuff.

Im personally a little iffy on Lewa's arms despite how cool the rest of him looks, just because the upper arms hinge from the center of the torso, not the outside, which is gonna make some poses impossible or weird looking.

I mean, personally I can get over short arms, especially when G1 suffered from some of the most disgustingly long arms I have ever seen near the end. At least we can cannibalize the master versions of the characters for parts to make some improvements on these guys, I can already think of some ways to improve Lewa without changing his look that involves giving him separate upper arms to his silver vorox armor shoulder things. Kopaka still has the best custom upper arms in my opinion

I have ideas that don't involve cannibalizing the 2015 sets, but nothing concrete for right now.

As much as I think the Vorox armor can make some fairly meaty looking sides, the fact that it is only done on one side and leaves some gaps leaves a bit to be desired, Gali is weird in that she really only looks good as a sharkgirl.

Maybe she looks better in hand who knows, but that one random orange shoulder armor is especially jarring.

The only problem I have with Umarak's design is one that seems almost too easy to fix to the point that I am a little confused about why it isnt like this to begin with.

Moving the hordika necks his arms attach to up one axle would vastly improve his design in so many ways, and it doesnt look like it would interfere with his shoulder armor due to just how large the gap there is, I just dont understand why they are officially the way they are.

To be fair, there is only one pose presented here where it looks dumb, the other poses have it looking a lot better, I have a feeling it restricted upper arm movement slightly so they had to move it down for better bow aiming poses.

Melum's function swings his arms side to side (or maybe hugs?) Almost like skull basher.

Terak swings up and down (probably alternating, but maybe not) like the 2015 sets or OG onua mata.

Just look at the gears in the new pics, it's pretty obvious.

In all honesty, probably 360 degrees, unless there was some specific limit put inside the gear piece or something.

Also after looking at lewa a lot more his upper arms have grown on me, I realized that if I change the way I think of them everything makes a lot more sense, the glatorian necks limit how far you can bring the arms down, but the limit happens when the arms are more or less straight vertical, which means it's fine, and otherwise they articulate decently in terms of how much upper arms on humans can articulate. I also felt like his lower arm armor would limit pose-ability a lot as well due to interference with the vorox armor on the upper arm, but thinking about it more I realize it will just basically limit it into only slightly more range of motion than a standard elbow joint, so that's fine too.

His knees are still iffy, but besides that I like him more the more I think about him

This is something that's always pissed me off about Bionicle and Hero factory. A ton of new weapon molds and armor molds per wave, and half of them are never used again. It's such a waste. Take the new axe part for Gali and Lewa for example, or the one used for the skull villains. Versatile pieces, multiple connection points, and there's a good possibility we won't see either ever again.

Lewa 2016 is amazing in terms of colour coordination, silhouette and structure. The only complaint I have is that its weapons are not stationary and spin around. I feel like this would have problems staying fixed while playing or the rotational joints on the propeller blades could loosen up. Would have preferred Lewa to have the blades fixed like a punch-dagger.

Yes they're functionally different but they're visual similar.

In-fact tahu and lewa are extremely similar when it comes to visuals. Sans the obvious difference in color they share an almost identical silhouette.

I really liked the clean and uniform look of the 2015 sets, while still looking unique.

I'll start by assuming you're aussie, given that exchange rate. If you want to get any of the old rahi sets I might sugest parting them out on bricklink and buying parts individually, might be cheaper. Might not work if there are a lot of one off technic recolors in there though. Generally avoid US sellers, shipping is painful (although prices arent really good from anywhere). But really I doubt you'd get much other than the Nui Jaga from your list for the money you have.

As for the skellies, maybe try and grab them on sale, a lot of retail stores are doing sales in the lead up to christmas. There is a pretty good thread in the BST section on the Eurobricks forum that has current Aussie sales in it.

Also sometimes stuff pops up on Gumtree at decent prices. I think I saw a listing with some 01-02 stuff in it a few days ago.

Got mostly complete M&K years ago in a huge part lot for 40€, and Manas that were missing few unimportant pieces this year for 50€.

The dynamic between Lewa, Uxar, and Umarak's sets seems like serious fun for play, Uxars shadow trap has a chain you can link up with Umarak's shoulder chain, and then you could have so many cool little scenarios like lewa flying around with Uxar and Umarak shooting him out of the sky, or Umarak gets Uxar and you can reenact anons little comic thing. The fact that the three of them are all top tier sets with top tier uniter forms is also a plus. The three of them are definitely a first buy for me.

Are planning to print them on sticker material and then cut them out? If you are, you should peel them off that sheet and stick them to another white or brightly colored surface, so that the black outline will be left on the sheet and the stickers will be easier to cut out. You should also scan in a higher resolution.

I like the new back shells for the saber wielders this line has (which none of this guy's pics shows).

Well we do have copious amounts of mixel joints now. I can see any new figures use them. Heck I made a 4 inch articulated figure with what's already available. (using a 3 ball with a pin hole in the middle, commonly used in technic car sets, as hips.)

BMC it's the same piece as the 2015 gearbox, just with a new panel element to cover it up.
The proportions are correct, but it'll be hard to tell until they actually come out and we can get at the instructions/part lists.

Let's do some analysis.

Lava is a no-brainer, while historically speaking "storm" has always been a water/air combo.
Since Air is now "Jungle" (thank you, stupid test audience) it stands to reason that Storm Beast will be a water/jungle combo.

Besides, Quake makes more sense as an earth/ice combo when you think about it.

Open up the file in any image editing software. Rotate the canvas to the correct orientation, then save it as a new file (not over the old one).

Lego has produced a few GITD colors, many of which work pretty well (the 2004 Kanoka Disks you see in anon's pic are among them).

Many of their transparent colors are also fluorescent though, which means they'll go quite brightly under a blacklight.

All in all, this little ball has around 15/16 seperate "points" of articulation minus fingers, so, it's pretty shiftable for it's small size. It's not that much taller than a regular Bohrok, too. Can't curl into a ball, at least from how I've tried.

Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder is pretty much the best set of 2015. Onua is my favorite of the six Toa just because of the sheer bulk of the guy. Skull Basher has a neat function, and Nilkuu (Protector of Stone) is generally considered the best Protector after Korgot.
