>>5310144>A lot of artists get lazy after doing the face. Hell, even the internet's favorite digital artist Sakimichan is guilty of that.Sakimichan is also shit and overhyped.
She suffers heavily from same-face, her art is boring and generic and she puts zero thought into her concepts.
She just knows what sells well and uses it to squeeze more money out of her fans.
Definitely not the best example to excuse "artists get lazy sometimes", especially because even her faces are lazy.
References are important to use, but some people never learn how to correctly use them.
If I look at your picture and can immediately say what was your reference (especially when it was another piece of art) then something is wrong.
References are supposed to help you learning and guide you through doing something you are unfamiliar with, not some base for a copy.
However, I guess the reason this artist tends to it is the same why some people take own reference photos and then use it as their base layer: lack of time.
I know a lot of really good artists working for bigger companies that have to churn out big artworks in a short time frame, and they often ask someone to pose for them, take a photo and then work on top of it.
Saves time, looks good anyway and because it's your own photo you don't get in trouble.
However, she's not using her own photos, and the overlay is too good to be done by eye but still not a 100% copy.
I assume she took it as a base, put another layer on, started painting and then changed a few things to fit her image.
No smudge finger, just good ol' digital tracing.
