Just got my hands on that base version of Grimlock, I thought I'd like him more, but that dino mode does leave a lot to be desired, maybe that's because of the fucking amazing looking Planet X Grimlock they did, I'd get that, if it was within my budget.

I think the AOE grimlock is a better figure (though this one does have better Robot arms/hands).

FoC Grimlock is honestly the best Grimlock toy in ages (not counting MP's). Yeah, he's got the big hollow chest, but it's to fit in the dino bits in robot mode, and both modes look pretty good as long as you're not staring directly into the chest hollow.

And if it bothers you that much you can go spend $40 on a $26 toy to fix it like >>5305780

Unfortunately, there's not really any modern g1-style Grimlock toys besides MP, FOC, and Classics, so I suppose that's not too hard to achieve. Then again, maybe we'll eventually get Generations Dinobots. I don't know what's holding them back- they're far more iconic than most of the combiners or any of the Headmasters for that matter.

I guess I'll wait until Hasbro makes new Terrorcons to retool into them in god knows how many years.

But within the discussion of these Transformers toys that we're fans of, it's perfectly acceptable to talk about the game, this the thread is still primarily a toy thread. Nothing of the game has anything to do with toys therefore it is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things and a angry birds tier distraction with no redeeming qualities of its own. RID will be remembered more because of all the toys the show got, while devastation will get no toys and nothing to remember about it because video games do not matter :)

Speculation says that Legends Gears was originally going to be Brawn, but Hasbro didn't want to have two green guys in that Legends wave (other was Acid Storm). The head for Gears certainly looks more like Brawn's than anything.

Brawn was also supposedly a "cancelled" Legends figure along with a Legends Sharkticon.

Maybe we'll get a new mold that'll be used for a Legends Brawn/Outback.

Speaking of Fun Pub and Machine Wars, just grabbed the 2013 Botcon set for $140 shipped from the club store since the three figures I did want (Strika, Obsidian, and Skywarp) cost the same alone, and apparently Megaplex goes for like $70 on ebay so it should be somewhat easy to flip some of the cost back.

Lets chill and talk about toys instead of complaining about secondary material.

Ok, g1 starscream to me as a kid I thought may of been a girl (which would make megatron more evil strangling and pummeling a woman all the time) but pretty sure OTHER THAN being a skinny shit is distinctively male, I do admit though the fan art works.

That said we already have our female starscream right here and no amount of fanart can top this...unless they can merge masterpiece aesthetic with animated slipstream styling

My memory is awful, but I can't remember any decent one's in the last few years.

I remember Energon had fantastic sales, and deals when it came out, Cybertron had those two-in-one packs, and they occasionally do a "buy one, get another half off" in TRU (but they always take the good stuff out when they do).

Honestly, I'd scrap everything and make a new Windblade that only caries vague components from previous. Working with keeping the wings as outside, but nosecone and cockpit form part of the chest. Legs would instead be modeled after a turbine which split in half to have skirt armor and the actual leg parts acordion out from it, with feet being fans with two folded together for the front of the foot and 3 being used as heels kind of like how Whirl's are and a attached by a swivel joint.

Look no further than at the fucking CW Combaticon's right now to see it in action: Retards listing them for $25+like $6 shipping right beside people selling them at about MSRP, sometimes with free shipping to boot. The system would work a Hell of a lot better if they also instituted some sort of control on shipping prices. All the time I'll find shit at a "low" price, only for the seller to have added some ridiculous shipping cost to it to frequently bring it over in price than anything else in the same catagory.

tl;dr Compare prices and wait for people who actually put out good deals.

I really find that pricing competitively doesn't help toys move. If it's not eBay hiding the listings, it's the buyers being complete and utter poorfags. Even at toy shows, people are just cheap as fuck. They won't touch anything under $10 and even then act like they're doing you a huge favor. This is why my buddy is trying to get out of Transformers and only orders a couple every now and then and usually just orders it for me since I can get mine for almost the wholesale cost and not the MSRP after the import charges and crap. He's been selling what he has left for under MSRP now just so he can get his cost back and drop it. He makes more selling SHF/Kamen Rider/Sentai and other stuff than Transformers. The market for Transformers has been saturated by scalpers and other dealers that can get a wholesale price for even more better than him.

The Combaticon's people are trying to scalp because they're not widely available in stores yet, is my guess. Haven't even really seen any Onslaughts for sale anywhere unless it was in a set with Scattershot, which no one ever seems to buy because no one wants Scattershit.

The Superion limb-bots are running around fucking $40-60 at times even though anyone with half a brain can get the UW Superion set for around like, $120 if they shop a bit.

Not much scalping that I've seen with Menasor or Defensor, seems both those no one wants/gives a shit about? No idea why they're not being scalped to Hell and back. Same with Prowl/Mirage/Ironhide/Sunstreaker, they're pretty cheap because apparently, no one wants them. I got all 4 of them for less than MRSP, brand new, with free shipping to boot.

There was a point where best tier pricing on ML/SWB was so bad that the shipping charge put you over MSRP. And that was before you opened the case to find that hideous slave Leia or 2 unsellable Winter Soldiers. Best thing Hasbro ever did was offer solid cases...and then they pulled the plug on it. If you're browsing EE now and see a solid case, it's most like a repack of toys they couldn't sell.

spot on, once you get the upgrade kits he's almost like his g1 self with a bit more articulation. he looks nice on display though.

Depends how you do it, with his legs like pic related you have less of a wide stance but when the thighs are rotated its a wider stance but he can move his leg up.

How do you people afford all this, goddamn. I kind of want to get the PE hands/feet but they're so fucking expensive, and I'd need 4 sets of them (Menasor, Superion, Defensor, Bruticus) if I wanted all my combiners up at once, or two sets if I wanted to cheap it out (Menasor for the purple/probably a black fist one for Defensor/Superion).

Personally I only pay for upgrades for my all time favorites, superion doesn't get any because he's stable enough as is. don't like defensor and bruticus is the last thing in cw and my childhood combiner so he gets everything.
