Yeah I agree. I got it because it was already 20% off, going to see if I can mod it to carry the First Order Snowspeeder underneath.

Bought an Imperial V-Wing Pilot fig to pilot it, since I don't like the one they used, and thinking of getting a load of Imperial Gunners (found a 10 for $44 plus p&p on Ebay- is that a good price?) to man the rest. I was over the moon when I found out about Sabine with a helmet and that Astromech, though.

Generally asked just so I don't get buyer's remorse to be honest. Anyone have any ideas on how I could get it so that the speeder can be attached? It seems to heavy to just be able to stick onto the already present studs.

So, I revisited a build I made for a monthly challenge (May, I think it was?) because I thought it could be improved with a few minor adjustments.

My Post-Apoc Pickup now features rust on the sides to break up the grey and make it more visually interesting, as well as a tow hook on the front.

I made another Group 5 inspired race car. This probably will not be the final product as I am not necessarily proud of the way it currently looks on the front. I wanted to make something that looks like a cross between set 1496 and a Zakspeed Capri. What do you guys think of it?

I've not seen it in shops, only online. That said, my only local shop that sells lego is Tesco, which doesn't really stock larger sets. All I know is that they haven't discontinued it.

I'm picking up one of each of the Star Wars Battlefront battlepacks, Battle on Takodana (if I like the movie), the Ultimate Waifu set from Nexo Knights and a whole BOX of CMF 15.

I want the Brick Bank but I'm gonna wait for double VIP or something similar.

Chances are they aren't gonna be here on that exact day, but I will pick up [toyspoiler]Onua from Bonkle and his beast[/toyspoiler] as soon as I see it, and some Nexo, SW Battlepacks (ALL OF THEM) and Microfighters and S15 soon after.

Bugger. I'd love their helmets to be in the rebels style to fit in with my others. I hate inconsistency, the First Order troopers are already bugging me (not going to even start on the snow and flametroopers) but at least I can pass them off as Officers. Things that are similar-but-not-quite are the worst.

Only real qualm I have looking at it is the insistence of mashing together midi and mini scale...
I know as a "Carrier" it should be able to ferry TIEs, but what are you really suppose to do with just Midi scale TIEs?

Yeah, you might need to work with those Technic elements to make an eye and hook system.

I don't usually make make day one purchases but I love the new superman hair. Nexo Knights has some good stuff as well, especially interested in seeing if the more conservatively colored baddies mesh at all with a last alliance moc I have in mind.

I finally got pic related after eyeballing it for almost a year.

It's really handsome car, probably the best looking of all Speed Champions. It's fun build and some parts are cool.

There was a minifig explicitly meant to be a WH40k Ork expy in CMF series 9 and the earlier marine is generic enough that you can treat him as an Ultramarine.

NK does bear some similarities to WH40k, it's kinda as if WH40k had a cartoon in the 80s

It must be because of all the corporate logos. Nowadays - excluding minifigs - Lego never prints unless there is potential for print reuse, or if it's super necessary to have it be a print (ie. Chima Legend Beasts need their face prints).

The logos make it hard to reuse those designs in an unlicensed setting, so they have to be stickers.

They've stopped making hard to reuse printed pieces around 2004 or so, when the company was in bad shape. You can see the trend slowly reversing though, Ninjago has a plenty of printed pieces that would've been stickers a few years ago (for example, all those windsows), and there's a lot of printed small tiles in multiple themes lately. Modulars seem to be getting own hard to reuse printed pieces too but that's a special case. Your argument does apply to licensed themes, though.

Someone mentioned the fact that apparently adults were whining about rare part colors only existing as printed pieces might have factored into this (sic), but I find it unlikely.

There are also a few exceptions to the reusability 'rule'. 2x2 round tiles can't have stickers when they're made to shoot out of tight launchers, joint balls will never have stickers stay on them, etc.

But I think it definitely is meant to apply mostly to licensed themes, with exceptions made for the specialty Architecture and Ideas theme.

I dunno, 1x1 and 1x2 tiles with stickers were pretty common around 2008, but then Lego was still recovering from the late 90s-early 2000s problems by then, wasn't it?

There were some in PM and Space Police too, but those were the last themes before the most modern era that happened with Atlantis and Ninjago. Nowadays there's a lot of 1x1 printed tiles in Friends and some in City and Ninjago as well as licensed themes, not to mention eyes in Mixels; Chima and Hero Factory had a plenty too. Together with Friends and Elves using a lot of printed pieces, it's safe to assume stickers are largely for licensed stuff nowadays. I have been paying pretty close attention and it is the Civil War sets that are due out in march, while the movie releases in may. No leaked set or minifig pics, but semi detailed set info and rosters. The Batman vs Superman sets are due out on Jan 1st (announced at a toyfair last year), with the movie releasing in march. Full set info is out, minifigs have leaked onto ebay, and pics are out.

There is speculation of a a post movie release set featuring Doomsday, based on reports of one for civil war but it seems unlikely. An unreliable source said the reason they only partially revealed the batmobile originally was because Lego was asked to pull a Doomsday bigfig and had to redesign last minute(substituting the forklift and goons for some ruins and doomsday). The source isn't good but I have never seen half of a set at a "reveal" before.

Aside, us Walmartians got our bonuses and post-Thanksgiving coupons, and I ended up getting the Rhino and Sandman Super Team-Up set, and a bunch of other unimportant (read: non-Lego) stuff. I instantly threw my Venom, Carnage, and Miles Spidey into the mix, and it doesn't look half-bad. I really like Iron Spider's outfit.

Now that I think of it, I'm really glad the ponytail piece featured here is now a thing of the past, I hated it as a kid and both newer versions look so much better. It just didn't age well, while the other old basic hairdos are timeless, I guess.

Deer are ugly and overrated, I want a lizard/salamander mold, maybe some generic molds for bugs (I like the two from Friends, would be neat to have them in brown or black) and a tiger. Personally I hate how inconsistent they are with scale. irl chickens and cats are of comparable sizes and yet the chicken piece is tiny and the new cat is giant. I know the older cat is smaller but unfortunately it has a stupid pose and its probably gonna be phased out of production anyway. Cats are also way taller than pigs now.

Same here bro. Favorite animal is shark. Favorite color is black with some orange and blue for good measure. I loved this set and the bigger one with the shark cave, which I clearly remember taking two tries to put together.

Shit pic but here's my collection so far (got rid of a big box of lego a couple years back, only just got into it). Gonna mod the Assault Carrier to be able to carry the Snowspeeder when I get enough parts to make a strong enough grip for it. Also got a First Order Transporter coming in soon.

I like the Rebels stormtroopers, and I like the snowtroopers as sort of scout troopers in my mind. The flametroopers when I get them are going to annoy me because of the few minor helmet differences, Dunno how I'm going to work with the First Order troopers.

After I flesh out my trooper numbers and figure out an explanation for each of the different types I'm going to start designing a little base for them all.

So they're making another set of Spiderdroids, yet as far as I can tell they did NOTHING to improve it, all they did was switch in some minifig a and add flick fire blasters on everything, you'd think they would at least try to improve it but no, let's leave it just as unstable and frustrating as before.

They do and all those weird crossover Hasbro toylines flopped badly indeed. But like someone said already it's how most licensed themes work ultimately, I'm not sure how licensing works exactly, but I feel like a lot of them exists just to ensue better licensing deals for other stuff from the same companies in the future. It won't last for long, so who cares, really. Some smaller licenses would benefit from more than one wave (ATLA or Scooby-Doo especially), but overall I'm fine with anything but the biggest licensed sellers getting 6 sets tops usually.

Not the same guy, but much of the disappointment seems to stem from the fact that the original was so good for its time. Aside from being a little back-heavy and having weird-colored innards (like every SW set then), it was very accurate. You'd think that in 14 years (6 since the CW one) they'd make one that was better than, not equal to, the original.

I love ATLA but I'm not surprised it performed so poorly. One of the sets was a gray box, released before the series really went big and before some of the more popular characters got much development, I guess. They were released in 2006, iirc shortly after book 2 began airing.

Not to mention the location/vehicle choices were pretty poor, they should've done Appa instead of the ship. And maybe feature Iroh in the sets instead of generic and frankly pretty ugly soldiers. Meanwhile Spongebob sets and figures had good likeness to the show and it was at its peak popularity at the time, hence the ultimate outcome doesn't surprise me.

I wish they gave it another try but Lego's Nickelodeon licensing shenanigans were complicated (license switching between Lego and MB every two years or so) and it's been ages since the show ended and Korra is both less interesting and didn't perform as well so the only change would probably be an Ideas project or something.

The new one just has such weird proportions compared to the first two such that those looked so much more like that actual thing than the 2014 version. It honestly did feel like they took a step backwards as far as design goes. Yeah, they cleaned it up a little as far as smooth tops and removing studs on top, but the proportions just seemed awful.

Just played a game I randomly invented with my cousins yesterday on our iPhones. Made a story about Lego characters being captured by the evil overlord Muckman (90's TMNT figure), and took tons of pics to show what was happening. Called for help from the Master builders, had them choose which of their lego chars they were playing as. One was a native american brave, and the other was a minotaur. To keep them interacting, and not just reading a story, I had them build things that I requested, and I would set a timer that they had to finish working by. For instance, they needed to build a bear trap to stall an enemy that was chasing them. (I used a plastic bear trap accessory from one of my WoW figures). I also had them send short video clips of themselves rolling a D20 (20 sided die) when I needed to see how well they'd do at a particular event in the story, like climbing a mountain wall, or dodging a sneak attack. Ended up being really fun! I hope we play on a regular basis.

While I will give you that the saucer is much stockier on the newest version, as a whole it's not as dis-proportioned as you make it out to be.
Here is the 2014 version next to the same saucer parts for comparative scale.
As you can see, the original wouldn't be THAT much bigger, plus the use of dome parts makes a space for the hidden spring launcher gimmick that you wouldn't get with saucer pieces.

8018 from 2009 however, is flipping HUGE.

I'd really like to see this happen. It would make me appreciate this figure a lot more. Not really into the whole mascot suit thing. (Same for the chicken man, and the godzilla suit guy.) Are there any existing heads that this would work for? Or would it have to be a custom thing?
