Hey /biog/, I just ordered the villain pack from some dude in Ukraine on eBay. It was about 13 dollars, did I get a bad deal? Also, how many of you guys own one? I can't tell if it's really rare like the comic con ones or super common like the hero pack since nobody fucking talks about it. I'd ask for suggestions on what to do with it but I won't be getting it until like January.

Series 1 toa: a little too simple but overall looked good. Would've been better with more detail.

Series 2 toa: clusterfuck of a million colors and fuckhuge chestpiece with 50 pistons on it and spikes and wings and crystals everywhere

I think all transparts are crystals, so 2015 had crystals anyway.

The chestpieces are not very big at all, as said by the people who have gotten them.

I dont see a lot of spikes. What spikes?

Wings are on the creatures. 2 of them. Apparently 2 out of 12 sets constitutes "everywhere".

Also Onua, Gali, and Lewa all have the same amount of colors or less than last year. Kopaka has the same amount if you count last year's stickers as dark blue, tahu has one extra (blue).

I wont even argue about pohatu though. The set it a bit of a mess.

But these guys have a million things going on in some places while having flat plain areas elsewhere mixed in with chrome/gold/trans/different shades/ gunmetal/

They're a bit busy designwise, but then again, their designs would be boring without a lot of armor shells. We have Hero Factory armor to thank for that. I feel like the new sets would benefit greatly from some more detailed basic shells.

(I lost his original sword. This has many of the same pieces I got in 2001 like the mask, and his nuva sword thing. Kopaka was my first bionicle so he's my fave)

I actually liked Sidorak's character a bit. It was interesting to have a guy who thinks he's hot shit but is actually yuge wimp who is being controlled by someone else. Granted, it could've been better, everyone saw from a mile away that Roodaka is the big bad. But after 4 years of Makuta shenanigans, it was refreshing

Also his death was fucking brutal.

I love how little they cover friction for the hip swivel feature. It looks sufficient enough though. Seeing them in hand makes me warm up to the designs overall, Tahu especially.
Also not bonkle but I managed to pick up Vader and I really like it! Much better than I anticipated!

Uxar, Terak and Melum have rhino horns.
And their head is an odd combination of avian and reptilian.

While their animal inspirations are clear, I think they're meant to be chimera-like creatures, with traits of different type of animals. I like it, it emphasizes their fantastical/alien nature.

I hope the Beasts follow that concept too.

I had Bionacle when I was very young and remember the Bohrok were probably the last ones I had but I'm unable to find them from my old boxes of stuff I owned. If you want Bohrok, look for anywhere that sells second-hand Bionicle sets. eBay's fairly good for them. I'm a Brit, so I just head down to car boot sales and pick up G1 sets there. I don't know how other countries sell their old stuff. They're everywhere. I've got a large box just for Bohrok and their parts. You may need to replace the rubber bands if you want to use the neck gimmick.

Repurposed that moc from one of the last threads into a Pohatu revamp (with guest appearance from Soldier Takua, which is mostly not my design). I think it works a lot better as Pohatu, especially with the weird kilt-piece thing.

But you turned his upper waist by pushing. The lever was on the upper torso, on uniters the mechanic starts from the lower torso and the upper gear is a static part so linking anything to it does nothing.

You could theorically insert a lever from the knob gear directly to an arm but that's it.

So while waiting for the next waves to come out, I ended up buying more summer set waves for extra parts.

I have both waves completed with extras of Gali and Lewa as I found them clearanced months ago at Wal-Mart for %50 off.

So now I have another PoE, 2 more Skull Warriors, and another Skull Basher.

Dunno, but I know which creature/uniter will be last. Tahu and the firehawk. DV's in charge and he hates doing reviews. Last year he outright stated that he only does reviews so he can continue receiving free stuff. I think he also mentioned that Andrew kept bugging him to do his assigned reviews last year until he did (which is pretty much the only thing required of him and yet he stalls).
One thing that bugs me about bzp is that after all these years they haven't improved their reviews. Their videos would benefit from a better cam and scripted lines. As for their written reviews, although it could be argued that they should be simplistic since they are intended for children, they come off as amateurish. Often (but depending on the reviewer) they offer silly remarks instead of actual pros and cons based on a set's structure. The PoJ review deserves a dishonourable mention. The reviewer sounded like a retard on LSD. He was incoherent, distracted, and he didn't even notice that one of the leg bones was turned in such a way that it nullified knee articulation. However was responsible fucked up.

1) No, they are not part of the same species. But, I do believe they are each unique for the purposes of characterization.

2) They have the same faces because it was cheaper to make than unique faces for all the beasts. Like the villagers/protectors. These just have the added bonus of ear/horn variety as opposed to the protectors not having such.

3)Their mouth does not have a bottom jaw in toy form, but you can probably imagine it would go where they shove the toa's heads in.

Well I wasn't a fan of the Skeleton guys or the 2nd form toas that have yet to be released.

I understand what they're going for though, kind of a south american jungle vibe with undead warriors (skeleguys)and Jungle Gods (toas), so I do appreciate the design elements there.

I enjoyed the first wave that consisted of the Toa and protectors (from what I've seen, I haven't bought any)
They may have looked a little simple with the flat CCBS shells but they were really recognizable and had overall good designs.

He's made no secret that he hates making video reviews, and hates watching video reviews, and only does those because they are required by B6 for CCBS set reviews, and he's not interested in system set reviews. So if he wants to do CCBS reviews (and honestly I think his are the highlight of BZP's reviews after Nuju Metru's, and I love that he's very obviously been putting a ton of work in upping his video review qualities even though he hates them.)

I hate how the set is supposed to have the vorox shell oriented to the side. It just leaves such a huge gross gap. I did a mock-up and if you place it in the front and bend it upward on the ball connection till it hugs the hip joint it actually gives the illusion of a thick thigh.

This box contains much of what that wave had to offer. It has a nice selection of parts and masks. The only cons are that Grinder is a bit gappy and that his staff is too heavy for his friction.
Scorpio is hit or miss (almost always miss), Slicer has a particular charm that puts him in second place, Warrior is more or less the poor man's Grinder, and Basher is good but his arms are wobbly and way too far back.

Mask Maker VS. Skull Grinder if you have no good guys or REALLY want Ekimu. I thought Skull Grinder was pretty boring except for the weapon. The Skull Grinder + Skull Scorpion combiner is INSANELY good and really harkens back to classic Bionicle.
Skull Scorpio if you liked the '01 Rahi and don't mind the "erector set welded to an action figure" aesthetic. He's kind of an underdog but he has his good points. The action feature is AWESOME when used on actual sets.
Skull Slicer if you really like General Grievous or don't mind cool features at the cost of the parts inventory. His gimmick is interesting, the hook is cool, and he's plenty intimidating. Plus, more arms for the posing.
Skull Warrior if you want a set that's more of the same but does what it does it REALLY WELL. Great for posing, multiple weapons, looks really good aesthetically.
Skull Basher if you love interesting and unique technic figures and really stronk villains. I had more fun playing with this set than any of the others by far, and he's pretty good for the posing too. He's my personal favorite of the lot.

They're all pretty much generic. That's the point of CCBS. You might want to dl the instructions from LEGO and take a look at the parts lists. Scorpio and Basher have technic pieces as well as CCBS.
