The tail fins on mine are fine, perhaps you got some bum figures? But to be fair, I don't mess with mine that much these days.
It's a matter of context to me. They were not the best Transformers from that time period, but they were not the worst either. They were acceptably good with the added bonus of being the most slavishly done Seekers to this day.

Being deluxe would make it more affordable to get the full set. Of course, if it were made today, without a movie increasing the budget, I imagine that they'd be mighty hollow and just a tad too small.
