Sure, Abrams' motivations for creating Finn may have political, but at least they were, in fact, spawned from his own creative decisions, and not from someone else telling him that his creative decisions are wrong and will have to be changed, like what happened in comics. Star Trek is a good comparison, because Roddenberry put a diverse cast on the bridge because that's what he wanted to do in order to make his, "Spaceship Earth" vision happen, not because somebody told him to do. Same with Abrams here, putting a black man in because he himself wants to see more non-whites, not because somebody told him to.
See, if SJWs were primarily interested in creating new and awesome things to try and supplant the existing awesome things they don't like, rather than constantly tearing down the existing things and trying to destroy them in the grandest traditions of the book burnings of old, I wouldn't have a problem with them. Hell, maybe now that they have Force Awakens to inspire them we'll see more actually not-shit content come out of the SJW camp.
