Wasn't there something in the comics whee he has the emblem with the toughest armor since it tends to get bad guys focused to shooting there instead of other parts of his body? The new bat suit looks like it cold be adopting that ideology.
Any case, wont need it with the armor, since, well, fully armored so doesn't matter where they shoot at.
