How'd the holidays treat you guys? Didn't get any RDs myself, but I did get these awesome Gundam Converges! The Balls are so cute, haha, and the Hy-Gogg and Z'Gok E will be my display stand-ins until we get RDs of them. Come on Bandai, don't let me down!

>>5360084 Nothing Robot Damashii sadly. Thankfully I got a ton of cash though so looking forward to pre-ordering a bunch of Hi-Metal R stuff. Got NXedge Barbatos coming in Jan.
Anonymous
>>5360084 Nothing RD as well, but got myself a figma Nagisa Momoe (the one on right, photo not mine) to finally complete the current figma lineup of the "Madoka Magica" girls.
As a side note, how would you guys remedy yellowing white plastic in older RDs? Unearthed my Lancelot Albion from a moist-free storage space a few days ago, and now I have to deal with sickly blotches all over its armor.
Anonymous
>>5360973 Was it sun free as well? I store a lot of Damashii and keep them out of any light and they've all been good for years now.
Anonymous
>>5360986 Yeah, it was totally enclosed and studded with dabs of silica gel to ensure less moisture. What would be an effective way to remove those yellow streaks?
Anonymous
>>5360084 No RDs for myself as well sadly, but have the AGP Mk.II/Barzam Girl incoming; just hoping it gets out of Japan before the New Years early shutdown takes effect.
Somehow limiting myself to one for now, though the timing of RD Refined Barzam's reveal is probably what helped.
Budget mode on now though, got six months to save up for six Refined Barzams hahaha
Anonymous
>>5360084 Just one RD (so far).
Coworkers got together and got me Hyaku Shiki. I love it.

>>5360844 Cash is good! Got a healthy amount of gift cards myself, heh. I've got 3 Hi-Metal R Regults and Roy's VF-1S preordered too!
>>5360973 >>5361096 A technique I've used in the past to remove yellowing is the simple hydrogen peroxide method.
Fill a glass jar with enough hydrogen peroxide to completely immerse the part you want to whiten. Put your part in and then cover the jar mouth with a piece of saran wrap to seal it (this is important!). Then, place the jar outside in the sun for a day and it should clear things up.
I used a simple 3% hydrogen peroxide solution I bought at the store for a dollar; a higher concentration should have a stronger whitening effect, but it may also have adverse effects on the plastic whereas a 3% solution is harmless. So I'd suggest starting small and then trying stronger concentrations if it's not working well enough.
Also, I've only ever used this method on ABS plastic pieces, so I'm not sure how the PVC parts of an RD may react but it should still work. Definitely try it out with a small out-of-the-way part first, checking on it after maybe 2-3 hours in the sun, so you can be sure that the peroxide won't have adverse effects on it. Painted and/or tampo detailed parts may be adversely affected by the peroxide as well, so try to use this technique only with completely plastic parts.
Grats on completing the Madoka collection btw!
>>5361396 >got six months to save up for six Refined Barzams Oh dang, that'll be a sweet setup!
>>5361415 That is so cool, you have an awesome workplace!
Anonymous
>>5361096 >>5361742 Here's an old, awful picture I took of a part that I used the hydrogen peroxide method on (it's from a Zoids Berserk Fuhrer, so it's supposed to be light purple).
Here's the before, with the yellowed areas circled in red. Was a lot worse in-person, old camera just couldn't really capture it.
Anonymous
>>5361758 Then here's the after.
Anonymous
>>5361760 Oh, this pic probably shows the difference best. Untreated, yellowed part is on the left, the middle part was a piece that didn't yellow and so was untreated (I think), and the piece on the right yellowed but was treated.

>>5360084 No RDs on christmas day, but I got my HLJ shipment with the Kapool a week before x-mas so I can kind of count it. I also have quite a few Converge figures coming in, just got the Operation V 3-pack from mandarake last night so with SAL snail mail I'll have it in like 2 weeks. Hopefully they'll produce another Jaburo invasion pack and give us Gouf, Dom, Zaku II, and ZGok for a good bundle deal. Missed out on the Dendrobium on HLJ but it's been popping up on mandarake so it's only a matter of time.

>>5362046 >MG Ignition Mode pales in comparison out of the box? yes
with some effort, I think they can both lok good
here's my kit, the weathering looks heavier here
however, its proportions look really anorexic in comparison with the metal build, the latter is beffier, especially on the legs and torso
as for regular Exia? too expensive man, 30k yen is waaaaay too much for a single figure
Anonymous
>>5362129 Ehhhhh.... even if the paint on your kit was better than it is and the proportions were magically changed, the Metal Build would still, you know, be made of metal. So saying that it pales in comparison seems perfectly accurate.

Also not technically a Christmas gift but TOM put RD Turn A Nano Skin Ver. for sale for $20 and I ordered it as a small gift for myself and ended up receiving the regular version.
I emailed them on it and they replied saying it was all a mistake and that they no longer had the Nano Skin version in stock. To compensate they gave me a full refund plus $3 in credit and let me keep the regular Turn A.
Loving it so far but it's a bit on the small side.

Well AGP Barzam Girl got out before JP New Years! Just a shame my postal carrier let it sit cold in the warehouse, when I could've had it this weekend. So here's hoping for a delivery tomorrow! Also, initially didn't care about the Titans colored G-Defenser. Still it's just not fair how much it looks like it suits Refined Barzam in the left pic... Probably gonna be hating myself when May comes around.
Anonymous
>>5377570 UGH. I'm not the biggest fan of the AGP figures, so it really kills me that they do stuff like this with them. I would love to be able to just buy the damn Titans G-Defenser to put it on a refined Barzam when I get one, but I don't really wanna own the AGP MK.II/Barzam just to be able to do it...
Anonymous
>>5377804 Can understand this, with pic-related would've loved to army build a real bunch of these.
Though forcing the G-Defenser in this set ballooned the price quite a bit, so was thinking of splitting with people ($60 or so for the Barzam girl); but after seeing it on Ref. Barzam. Think I'd like to make three of the Ref Barzams I hope to get, some Super Barzams.
The middleman is already trying to reign in my spending. Seriously counting my lucky star Bandai never attempted to make a AGP Leo Girl the same time as the RD Leo figures hahaha...
Anonymous
>>5377971 >...so was thinking of splitting with people... I had thought about this too, but that's when I stopped caring enough to try. I'm not that desperate for the G-Defenser, and I also feel like it would be hard to find someone willing to give that piece of the set up.
But damn the Refined Barzam certainly looks amazing with it equipped.
Anonymous
>>5377971 The msrp for the normal exclusive g- defender was around 4890 yen.
So if you were to split it, would probably be something like 5000 yen for the g Defender and 4200 yen for the AGP girl before shipping.

>>5377971 Whoa! I had no idea MK-II girl was getting an option pack like that! Just got the Gundam Converge Dendrobium in the mail. Since some of the anons were talking about it here I thought I'd share a pic of it. Some pretty nice detail on the Dendrobium, a good amount of panel lines for anyone who feels like inking them in. Most of it is made of hard plastic.

So of course a half-hour after I leave for something does it show up yesterday... Also only the one pic so far really, sorry. Like the mode switching on the old GFFs, still take a bit of time to figure the conversion and articulation on these AGPs.
>>5380552 Yeah, it really does. Made me rethink my initial disinterest in the G-Defenser. Nifty thing can form up to a almost mecha canine-mode.
>>5380621 >4200 yen for the AGP girl before shipping. Doubtful I would've been lucky enough to get someone to give up the AGP Barzam Girl for that kind of split pricing.
Wish I'd tried asking nonetheless, when I could though now.
>>5380649 Yeah, have to admit the middle hairstyle is what's pushing this for me kinda similar to you. Also the the one to the right. Has me curious if I could rework the colour scheme to get it closer to the one in the original Barzam Girl pic.
>>5377484 Will probably only go one(maybe two) when my usual shop gets their Bluefin stock initially. Wish I could plan for more more, but the bad luck of being so close to the Refined Barzam; gonna reign myself in on that one.

Are you trying to get more AGP Mk. II's? If so, I would consider splitting the cost 50/50 just for the G-Defenser. >>5385075 The Gouf Custom is a little fiddly due to its gimmick of having a lot of customization hardpoints to mount things on. But that also gives you a lot of options. It comes with two full Shield Gattling equipment sets, one for the left and one for the right arm, plus its heat sabre. It has a bunch of locations for mounting all of this, too, and is compatible with the Hardpoint System accessories included with the original Zaku II and RX-78-2 releases.

>>5385735 Pretty much all the Wing releases are god damned amazing. If you like the design, go for it.
I can't think of a single one that has any significant flaws aside, maybe the Mercurius and Vayate 2-pack having some issues where they cheaped out to keep price point on releasing two units together. But even that was them making some pieces hollow instead of solid and just not meeting the high standards set for the rest of the line.
Anonymous

Random thought/rant: What are the chances of getting RDs of the Katoki versions of the early GWing designs? I used to prefer the OG designs but after years of "Katoki here and Katoki there" I have been seduced to the dark side. This thread is slow lately. Let's talk about our favorite RDs. Doesn't have to only be one. Let's just talk about our favorites. Me, I absolutely love the Alexander from Code Geass: Akito the Exiled. It's just fucking great. Articulation is superb and it's got plenty of accessories. I love it so much, I happily bought the two Type-02 sets. In fact, I actually just picked up two more for my monthly amiami order recently. Gonna have one in the Insect Mode. Really hope that they eventually make the Alexander Valiant and Alexander Liberte someday. Another favorite are the Evas. I only have Unit 01 and 02 for now, but they have fantastic articulation. I really want to pick up 00 and 03 when I get the chance. I can gush over more, but I leave it at just those for now.
Anonymous
>>5392781 I wholeheartedly second the Alexander. The basic figure itself is so fun to play with that I have yet to use it's full equipment, much less transform it. And I got him a few years back.
I recently got the Lancelot Grail. It's a fantastic figure. The paint apps are great and it has the superb articulation of the Lancelot RD mold. It does get back heavy with its cape and swords but it's still awesome.

>>5385735 It's great. Like others said, there are no major flaws to this figure, so any you might have are gonna be minor. I think my only gripe is that the wings can get in the way of some poses at times, but nothing completely hindering. If you're okay with the price at the comic shop already, then you won't be disappointed. If not, see if you can talk'em down a bit since they've been shelf-warming. Pic related because I've wanted to share a shot of this shelf lately, so here's a good reason to. Heh.
>>5389516 >Just wondering do you have one already incoming though? I don't. It's tempting, but I can't quite justify it yet. It might be something I try to pick up down the road if they don't sky rocket in price, but otherwise I don't mind skipping it. The Ka Signature Refined Barzam though, I need that. Like, unhealthily gonna drop the money on one as soon as it pops up on Mandy need. Heh.
>>5391322 This thing just makes me want some AoZ designs in RD form. We need some more over-complicated Titans-colored suits in this line. Seriously though, this is awesome. Can you please do this with the Ka Signature Refined Barzam if you get one later on?
>>5395019 Yeah, Bandai is really holding back on dipping into the UC Sidestory stuff. But if the line keeps going for a few more years I could see them hitting that mark in time.
I'm mixed about the A.N.I.M.E. sub-line. It looks good, but I'm only interested in the RX-78-2 so far. I will agree that I think they've spent all the time they could on the Unicorn variations, but not necessarily the Unicorn series designs. Stuff like the Jesta, Zee Zulu, Rozen Zulu, ReZel, ECOAS Jegan(Damn you Bandai, this thing is BD-01 all over again), and maybe even a few more could use a figure under their belts.

>>5398829 By the Chogokin, you mean the DX Chogokin VF-19 Advance, right? Because as
>>5399163 points out, there isn't a DX Chogokin of the YF model just yet (though one has been teased at the recent Tamashii Nations show). On the other hand, the Arcadia YF-19 is also going to be reissued, so you're probably going to end up with the same dilemma either way.
In my opinion, the Arcadia looks way better sculpt-wise. Love the Arcadia's fighter mode and everything fits together perfectly with no gaps, while the battroid mode looks much beefier (and thus more accurate to how it looked in Macross Plus) than Bandai's offering. Bandai's fighter mode has one or two areas where things don't fit together that great (primarily the parts above the intakes), which creates some gaps, and when attaching the boosters to the VF-19's wings you're supposed to un-tab the wings from the fuselage, which is kind of lame (especially because they photo-shopped that unplugged tab out of the promo/box images, tsk tsk).
The Arcadia also includes the weaponry seen on the cover of the "This Is Animation" Macross Plus design book, which is really cool to me as I love having under-wing stores to put on my valks, something that Bandai's valks generally don't include.
This is the Arcadia pictured here in gerwalk.
con't
Anonymous
>>5399322 >>5398829 The Bandai is still a very nice valk though, and it has two huge things going for it over the Arcadia. First, it has tampo detailing out the wazoo. Everything from vernier thrusters to sensor packages have little tampo details, whereas on the Arcadia pretty much the only tampos you have are the UN Spacy kites and the 19 on the shoulder. This may be a con to you depending on your point of view, but I personally love it (I also prefer the shade of tan used by Bandai over Arcadia's, whish is too pale IMO).
Bandai's second huge advantage is price. This advantage has decreased a bit in light of the Bandai's increasing aftermarket price and the impending Arcadia reissue, but you're still going to pay less for Bandai's 19 (especially if you can get it for MSRP or if a Chogokin YF-19 becomes a reality and you can get a preorder in). For the price, the Bandai is a fantastic deal. You get an extremely detailed, solid feeling and well articulated valk (the ankles on the Arcadia tend to be loose, though the reissue will supposedly address this) that still looks great in all three modes despite my preference for the Arcadia, AND you get the Super parts AND you get lots of stand parts (which are kinda ugly, but they're there!).
Kinda rambling now so let me sum up a bit; if having a 19 that looks like how the 19 appeared in Macross Plus is your top priority, get the Arcadia. If you can only get one 19 (or only want one), and you just want the best value for your money, get the Bandai.
Bandai here pictured in battroid.

What's a good price for the Lavaetain? And is it possible to find one for $30 shipped? I'm seeing around $40 shipped from some places.
Anonymous
>>5411084 >they printing money for every Gundam release A lot of the recent Gundam releases have ended up discounted pretty fast. I'm not sure they are doing as well as Bandai would like. Master, Shinging, Justice, and to a lesser extent Freedom all seem to have done fairly poorly if surplus inventory is any indicator (and it usually is).
Also there is a Blaze Raven Custom, so I'd imagine that would get a new mold instead of a V.2 if they do more Another stuff. I haven't read any of Another, but the other Ravens (there's a red Blast, black Phantom, and purple Aegis Raven too) would be really cool to get figures of.
>>5410932 I suspect the next couple months will feature some combination Neofam, Sirbine or Wryneck, that red thing Lacey pilots in L-Gaim that I'm not even going to take a guess as to how to spell the name of, and Ingram 1. I guess there's a remote chance of some Wataru exclusive release too. My guess is that Cross Ange won't do well enough to get anything else released aside from a tacky gold Villkiss. After that they'll have sales figures for IBO and the ANIME stuff to decide if they'll continue those lines. Personally, I suspect the IBO figures will shelf warm like the RDs for the last two times they made stuff for the newest Gundam show. It won't help that they're so much more expensive and come out so much later than the models either. ANIME will probably do fine though.

I'm reading or best to say I was reading FMP Another manga but they stopped at the sixth volume,as long I'm on the lazy side I'm not even searching japanese raws or novel translations.
Regarding gundams I think they have probably over-saturated the market like Banpresto or Mega House with their never ending One Piece bukkake of figures,or their kits are just way more better than Damashii and people is purchasing them instead.

>>5430433 Yeah, Bandai should stop making stuff for its most profitable franchise and make things just for you. Thats how they really make money.
Anonymous
>>5430433 >>5430438 If only those cucks at Bandai would focus on the franchises I personally like, then clearly it'd all be successful! It's not like they have people who they specifically hired to determine the marketability of things or anything crazy like that.
Also fuck you I want the Qubeley and I honestly wouldn't have expected it to happen. Kind of want the Destiny Impulse too, wouldn't have expected that one either.
Anonymous
>>5430531 Oh, trust me, I wanted Qubeley too. Its one of my top 5 most wanted RDs.
I was just mocking him like I usually do. Every month he makes the same complaint.
Anonymous
>>5430537 Oh, I know. I just wanted to get in on the mocking too. Who the hell expects Bandai NOT to milk Gundam for everything they can in a toy line? Other stuff is nice too, but if it's not marketable then them's the breaks. It's not as if Gundam fans don't get fucked over too. Waiting for some 0080 and 08th MS Team RDs. Or for some Jestas and other ECOAS stuff for the Unicorn sub-line.

Other shows ARE getting love. There's a damn-near complete Dunbine run, Code Geass got plenty of love, L-Gaim got a fair number of releases, Full Metal Panic! got tons of love, Dragonar got a pretty good run too.
Just because your personal pet show isn't getting every single design in it done right now doesn't mean that the line is dying because of Bandai using it to produce plenty of toys from its flagship franchise.
Fuck off.

>>5430611 Kaempfer is one of my biggest wants right now. Along with the Z'Gok-E and Hygogg. That and the Dom Tropen. Maybe the complete pipe dream of a Quin Mantha. They made a Kshatriya, surely they can make its twice-as-huge predacessor, right?

Just saddening that it'd have to be a .Ka Signature exclusive to happen probably...
For Quin Mantha think the best we'll be getting is the Assault Kingdom figure, that looks like it'll be a pretty decent release(after seeing the AS Psycho Gundam didn't end up like the regular Assault Kingdom figures).

http://tamashii.jp/item_schedule/201606/ >>5435629 I think as long as you keep your toys in a good environment and out of direct sun exposure, you should be fine. I have more than a few white RDs that are several years old and none of them show any signs of yellowing (the White Dingoes are going on 5 years old now and they're still a vibrant white).
As for buying used from Japan, stores like Mandarake are very particular about the condition of the items they sell, and they will indicate if there is any yellowing of the item so it's easy to avoid.
