>>5361885>How does /toy/ feel about the lotr and hobbit legos?Boy don't get me started. I have a love-hate relationship towards that. LOTR is what got me out of my dark age (I own atleast one of every single set) but it ended extremely disappointing as we missed out on key characters and both the last waves of LOTR and Hobbit was extremely poor.
I still love LOTR. first wave had great sets, from the smaller Shelob set to the amazing Helm's Deep, which is my favourite LEGO castle ever. Tower of Orthanc is amazing too, and a real treat to any LOTR fan. However the second wave had not outright bad but rather very weird choices for sets. Pirate Ship, Elrond Council and Black Gate battle when we could have had Balrog set and Battle of Pelennors Field??
I dislike Hobbit alot more, partly because I hated the movies. Still, I will admit that the Bag End is just beatiful, it's easily the single best set out of all LOTR/Hobbit. Other than that I'm not very fond of the sets, most just feel like pieces of rocks or wood. The last wave was especially poor, the Smaug set being the worst with a horribly inflated price and shitty minifigs, sole saving grace was the admittedly cool Smaug.
Still gonna miss official Eowyn, Sauron, Gondor Soldiers and more, you can build your own "sets" but minifigs are worse.
