Somewhat related, we had a string of robberies in my home town. The never successfully hit my house (they tried to at least once, but were idiots and went through the window of my brother's blackout-curtained room, where he was currently awake and chilling with his hunting dog), but they did hit a friend's who had some toys and even clothing disappear along with the regular electronics. This pattern seemed to go through a lot of their thefts and seemed sporadic since it wasn't necessarily high value stuff. When they finally caught them they found the thieves were basically shopping for their families while robbing the houses, taking toys for their kids, clothes, and even home goods and knicknacks that they thought their wives would like.
