>>5402781>in fact almost all future writers of the franchise will have started off as fan fic writers. That's true for almost every type of generation spanning fiction. I wonder if that guy also considers the entire output of Marvel/DC "Fanfiction?"
>MTMTE actually does have some really interesting and fascinating stories when it isn't self indulgent,I agree. You haven't really gotten a chance to see the "human" (hurr durr) side of these characters for the majority of the franchise's lifespan, so getting to see these personal stories is really interesting.
Things like Last Stand of the Wreckers looking at Megatron's relationship with his men and questioning the Autobots' morality, Fort Max having to deal with PTSD, Rodimus's personal inadequacies...
Even RiD gets pretty excellent, since a lot of it has to do with the politics of a post-war society. It shows sides of characters you don't really see, and later, when they start fighting Galv, it changes up the dynamics of the old Autobot/Decepticon conflict in interesting ways.
It's easy to make just another story about Heroic Autobots fighting Evil Decepticons, but questioning what would actually happen when one of them won makes for much better science fiction.
That said, the influces of tumblr get a little obnoxious in MTMTE.
