I don't think they're going that way at all. People keep buying them like their the next beanie babies, and it's garbage. I'm incredibly annoyed because one of my collector stores by me, which normally only sells Japanese imported merch, has cleared an entire wall for Funko Pop crap.

Then this other time when I was in another store, there was a pile of Pops, I commented to my friends on how much I hated them as they were just all over the place. Overhearing that a nearby employee chuckled. I couldn't tell if that was a chuckle because he agreed with me, or that he was a Pop collector that was amused by a "hater". I really hope the former.

Let's remind you that stores are here to MAKE MONEY. POP stuff sells, I can't keep it in stock in my store. It may not be something I'd buy, but nothing speaks louder than the almighty dollar. The demographic of who buys it is across all across the board. Kids, collectors, overweight cosplaying chics, it doesn't surprise me any more who comes up to the register with one. (or six) I'm glad they're there cause they save our ass in sales. So until they stop selling, they will always have a place in my shop.

It's probably not a bobble head. The ones that have to be bobble heads are Marvel and Star Wars because Hasbro is the only company allowed to sell regular toys of those properties in the states, probably other countries too. Bobble heads are apparently considered something different.

Why be mad at Funko for producing harmless bobbles that don't even take up the same space as other toys? Instead, you should focus your anger on companies that just decided to not do anything with the license at all. Every other company in the world had the opportunity to make toys for it, and guess what? Looks like no one wanted to but Funko. Funko isn't preventing SH Figuarts or Figma Red Knight from existing.

These things are as far from action figures as bracelets or T-shirts from Hot topic as far as I'm concerned. Just extra merchandise.

This a million fucking times for every anon that was bitching that the yellow visor version was going for so much I was left speechless why they just didn't by the Takara which was at the time about 30 above msrp and was show accurate.
I sometimes wonder what brain damage you must have or NEET level not being able to shop online for products you want. They are even cheaper most of the time if you act fast enough.

I basically blew it all on Transformers. I had no bank account of my own, so I had to rely on what stores had. I think that's why TF fans get so obsessed over what's available in stores or not. Thank goodness I've since moved past that and am no longer a filthy NEET.

You have no idea how these stores work. No one went there for Pop! everyone went there for the imports. They were alive for several years, doing great. If you're just saying they don't sell because they're not Pop!, you're just delusional. No one goes there for Pop!, and out of all the people I've met there, no one has. It's always the imported stuff.

You can get pops literally anywhere these days. Hot Topic, Toys R Us, Comic Shops, Walmart, Target, Amazon, and so much more. The fact that the market is so over saturated with these things makes it so that what kind of person would go out of their way to some random Japanese merch store, when they can just go to Hot Topic and buy them when Hot Topic carries exclusives.

Carrying pops might have been the right call in, like, 2013, but starting it now is way too late in the game.

The license agreement is that harbor had sole exclusive rights to sell vinyl figures of marvel and Star Wars. They got super butt hurt when funky released a non bobble wolverine and then came up with the brilliant loophole that a bobble head does not count as a vinyl figure for some reason.

Also i recall hearing onc that some places like target feel the bobbles sell better and refused to sell non bobbles so funko had to make some exclusive bobbles of nonbobbles for them.

Does anyone in the industry have any dignity or skill to make something other than these vinyl abominations? Or do they only care about catering to the lowest common denominator, aka normies?

It's fucking insane that nobody has made 1/12 or similar scaled articulated Dark Souls figures yet. There's so many different armor sets and weapons to choose from, and providing they were well made/painted they'd be a guaranteed sellout.

Imagine something like pic related but with actual joints and articulation, it'd be fucking great. Figuarts, Figma, Revoltech, fuck even Hasbro could take a shot for all I care. Somebody needs to make this happen.

But seriously, if you can't spend more than $10 on a toy, then maybe you shouldn't be spending money on toys in the first place, because either A) You don't really care much about toys, in which case why even waste $10 on something if you don't really want it? or B) You can only afford $10, in which case you should focus your money on something else.

It's not about only being able to afford $10 toys it's about the value in what you're getting. What else is only $10 and exists for nearly every property imaginable? I own all the legacy Power Rangers stuff, the whole Neca Pacific Rim series, lots of Firma and Revoltech stuff as well as a pretty vast MSIA Gundam collection but that doesn't change that the Funko Pops are fun little figures that I really enjoy having. There's something pleasing about having all your favorite figures in a similar scale and format so you can display them side by side and it won't look weird
