Let's say I'm not a big fan of Tamashii Stages for a number of reasons. Are there any other pretty good stands out there? I never see anyone suggest anything else, so I'm kinda assuming there aren't, but I figured it was worth asking at least.

To be fair. "ACBA" stands are good if you want to blend the stand into a display or for a photo. But they don't look good out right.

If you're not doing that your options are Tamashii stages, Obitsu Stands, Figma stands, those doll stand things, and old toy biz flight stands. There's more but those are what come to mind

The stand that comes with the recent Revoltechs and VulcanLog is pretty decent.

It's pretty much like Tamashii stand, but the clip has a vertical piece sticking out. So with the claws it makes a cross. That alone makes the hold on the figure much stable.

I don't like the clamp on the Figuart stands I have so far from Ranma and Blastoise (like in OP's image). The claws are just slotted by small knobs into the stand holes on top or bottom, and nothing else to fasten them in place so the claws just pop off when I'm trying to squeeze them into a tight grip sometimes. The claw grip that came with Figma Drossel Charming is a proper hinged claw that actually uses a screw to hold them in place, though most other Figma just use a knob instead of a claw.

They're pretty small for a lot of the SHF as well. They barely make it to hold most of my figures in place, and there's some they just plain don't fit around. I appreciate that a lot of the skinnier girls like the Sailor Scouts and Love Live girls include claws that are skinnier and meant for them, but god damn I wish some figures (or the stand packs, really) came with some various sizes.

I'm not sure how any stand looks good or bad. The whole point of the stand is to hold a figure up in the position of your liking. A wire stand doesn't look any better than a clear plastic one, but i prefer for it to stick out less.

Very much arguable, because I'd say most consumers would think a plastic stand looks more visually appealing than a cheap fucking wire. Not to mention that stands are more versatile without sacrificing its condition (opposed to bending the wire).

And again, stands aren't even expensive to invest. You're in the wrong hobby if you can't justify paying $2-3 on a plastic stand. Your mom really is a poorfag if she can't afford pre-sliced apples, let alone some actual figure stands...

Sorry, but I definitely can't agree with your point of view.

These stands are better than any clear ones, even if they're thicker, because they're not going to cascade light everywhere.
And they're inferior to wire, because they're so damn thick and noticeable.

I'm a firm believer in less is more.

No, because wires aren't plastic stands silly. You're comparing (pre-sliced) apples with fucking garbage. Even the plastic stand in your image looks like shit, unsurprisingly, since you're too cheap to buy decent ones.

Have fun having to physically bend and use various sizes of wire to get what you need, though. Seems quite the hassle.

Your entire argument seems to be "If it's not made of plastic, it's not a real stand" or "if it's not marketted as a stand, it's not a real stand"

Before you were just talking about poorfag this and poorfag that, but of course you changing the argument to mean something else.

Nevermind the fact that the majority of stands use wire and are all "homemade"

Can't even begin to imagine how ugly museums would look if they used thickass glossy clear plastic to support their display pieces. Arm and leg thick plastic poles would be needed to hold them up... if they were just simply scaled up. IRL, the plastic would need to be muuuch thicker and arm thick plastic is ugly enough. Hence stands for toys mostly being ugly, especially glossy reflective clear ones.

Third, plastic stands aren't subject to fatigue failure. In conclusion, do whatever the hell you want, but at least know what you're doing. Also, get some shrink tubing or something to cover the ends of the wires. Adds friction and prevents scratches.
