>>5499251While I get what you're saying, doing every little character has been the bread-and-butter of the Star wars toyline since its inception. And it was the hottest toytline in the day, too. The way I see it, the 3 3/4 scale SW toys whole appeal is sort of the same as a diorama display, like you'd see in any sort of reenactment of a battle scene with miniatures.
If you look at the first Star Wars, there really aren't that many toyetic scenes or characters. Going back to the first few toys released, the playsets were things like the Cantina, the Jaw base, and the Death star, and really, you can't just have those places look right with just the protagonists, it'd feel empty. You need the random nobodies to make it feel right.
