Any tips on posing Hot Toys? I finally broke down and purchased one but I'm having a hard time getting it to stand or stay up straight. Also the legs are a real pain to pose and look natural.

The stand I'm assuming you put under the clothes and sit the hook under the crotch? I'm not 100% sure. Thanks.

Also how often to I dust this toys, since they are cloth how do I clean them?

do the easy thing and just replicate one of the promotional shots

keep your fingers on its feet pushing them on the ground and move the body to be up straight while still holding its feel flat on the ground

huh, never though of that. well i dont anyway

i just clean them whenever i see dust starting to build up on the glass around them

i clean everything with a makeup brush, but with my tony stark i use paint brush on his clothes

stick them in a display case and you won't have to clean them very much. As soon as I got my avengers cap I stuck him in a case and he's been dust free since.

I've tried to copy the promo poses, I was aiming for this exact pose. The problem seems to be the back leg gets all twisted and with all he cloak it's hard to keep it in check. I guess I'll just have to start playing if this pose more but whenever I try it, it looks unnatural.

I've never seen a Hot Toys go for less than $100

Years back, Hot Toys decided to start hiking their prices out of the blue, and nearly every other 1/6 company saw this and followed suit. This led to the 1/6 scale market going from "reasonable" to "ridiculous" in the span of a few years. If you talk to old-timers, they'll regale you with tales of a time when you could get/put together a pretty nice 1/6 figure for like, $60. Now $100 is the bare minimum, and it's usually much more.

To be honest, comparing the figures we get today vs the ones from back when they were cheaper makes me feel pretty okay with the price increase.

So much this. I have a 200+ figure collection and that is after selling off a lot of them. I stopped collecting when the prices started hitting $100 per figure.

high grade stuff usually means quality sculpting, so they're not going to cut pieces away just so the figure is more poseable.

The designer series is artist specific and it covers a few artists so far. So no, that not their house style or anything, the figure there is just an example of a stylized one meant to look like Jae Lee's art.

I'm actually contemplating getting the Imperial Probe Droid 2nd run that's on preorder right now. It's $250 ish so I'm really on the fence. Should I do it, /toy/?

I don't have any Hoth figures, but why would I be willing to spend $200+ dollars on something if I didn't really like it?

I'd really just kind of like one high end toy someday, and this feels pretty right to me.
