I'm a little drunk, please bear with me. What I really mean to say is that I like that Revoltech has a lot of figures that don't have a Figma or Figuarts, but so far I only have Gurren and a couple of the Idolm@ster girls. And maybe I don't need to be so judgemental towards the line for just having bought one with click joints, but man is it hard to pose this guy when he has really stiff joints that click like that. And Miki's arm fell off right out of the box, and the Fraulein line in general just seems too fragile. What are the best Revoltech figures out there?

I just got into Revo's myself, but I haven't had any issues with the figures I've gotten so far other than a paint app chip or scuff here or there that wasn't really noticeable unless you were looking for it.

One thing I've learned quickly though, is you have to be really careful with them. They're not toys, they're not action figures. They're more akin to models. They have really wonderful articulation, but you need to first adjust the joint, then whatever you're trying to move thats attached to that joint.

I don't know whats the best, but currently I'm just grabbing figures that appeal to me, which so far has been the Zone of the Ender's figures because I am a huge fan of the games, and some of the Queen's Blade figures because I wanted some good, lewd figures to pose.

Alleyene (sp) from the QB line is really great so far. She has so many layers to her because of her clothes, hair, and such.

Takeya collector here, I quit revoltech because I wanted to focus on getting Takeya SIC figures which aren't that cheap, especially if you're hunting down some older figures... but then Takeya revoltechs dragged me back in and I don't regret it one bit.

Takeya also worked on the Argonauts skeleton and Jack Sparrow before he did his Takeya Buddhist revoltech line. I don't have Jack Sparrow but I love my revo skeleton, both argonaut ver and the jizai okimono one. My Raijin revoltech has taken a nose dive over and over again due to me insisting on posing him balanced on the cloud like the original painting it was based off, but nothing is broken nor chipped. Most durable revoltechs I've ever had are the Takeya ones, no plastic-thing melting problem, no paint chips.

I thought the original skeleton would be tough to get nowadays, and waiting to see if Samurai Skeleton is better than the latest Takeya Skeleton. But I think they are a bit pricey for folks initiating.

Buddha statue series I'm not sure if it's for everyone Maybe I should include Ashura and the Ungyo Agyo pair. They're pretty cheap still.

best revoltech line, sculpt is superb, paintjob is good, they're overall really cool
of course, it's a line not for everyone.

but if you're already thinking of getting three of them you'll probably end up like me.

and anyway aside a few pieces (fudo myoo in particular) they're not that expensive nor rare

Dunno how the 11's are labelling stuff or if they're meant to be different, but Kaiser armor is made from Teostra parts in MH, so they could be the same thing.

I initially thought they meant the non-revo joints, cut joint pegs or something. It can get stuck and someone could twist it off. But seems like people meant the Revolver Joints, which are practically unbreakable.

I guess they try to bend the joint when it's twisted 90° so they just snap it? Something really sharp and thin like EVA-01's horn can break easily but not many Revos have something like that so they rarely break something falling off a shelf. Or they compare to western figures like ML? Anyways, odd.

Ratchers don't feel fragile to me. They feel solid and heavy. They do give me a "Is it going to break?" feeling though if they're hard to move.

Or perhaps people mistake the feeling of a ratchet joint-The resistance it has-And the sound it makes as fragile? I dunno. I mean, shit, some of the Transformers I have have much heavier ratchets than any Revo I have, but thats because they're designed to hold a lot of weight.

I don't think so. I don't have a ton of revos but these joints are tough as nails for collector figures. I think PAK uses something similar if I'm not mistaken since I got in D-Dog and moving his limbs around have a similar feeling.

As long as you're not the hulk I find Revos or the joints not all that fragile.

Yeah PAK have been a giant Revoltech for a while now, never with the click click click meme. I think there is a size to ratchet ratio that if one sided people complain about. Apparently ratchets on smaller figures is a taboo, since it's meant for heavy figures. Although some Revos do have enough weight requiring a ratcheted joint.

Dante is alright, but that isnt saying much considering there are maybe 2,3 in existence, one of them being NECA. He has weird proportions and given how old he is, only has about 4 revo joints.

I don't think there are Revos that are universally terrible. I think a key factor is how much you care for Yamaguchi style cut joints. The earliest Revos always had some here and there for the hips or shoulders, and I can see how people may not like that.

Evangelion Evolution EVA-08 had paint issue, being sticky out of the box and I don't think you can 100% fix that without scraping it off and repainting it.

There was a period when the 6mm joints were terrible, the 3-piece joint at its latency. That hits hard for the first batch of QB Revos and didn't get resolved until Ymir I think. Some got reissued and Legacy release with better 6mm joints, so be careful getting the older ones from ebay, Mandarake, etc.

Ohhh the transforming VF-1!! Avoid that. It wasn't poorly designed imo, but the 6mm joints were shit then and it was like 80% using those joints, making it unbearable.

Many also say Gunbuster, but I thought it was okay. WAY BETTER if you get two and keep one in vehicles and the other as robot, glue on those transformation parts that falls off when posing.

So yeah, final answer must avoid is transforming VF-1. Non transforming one is fine though.

What happened with this? I just ordered a few of the older non-Legacy QB revo's (Sigui, Alice Boost, Echidna, and Leina).

Probably have the old joints...They will be kind of loose. I recommend heating up the hip with the revo joints in them to loosen the grip of the PVC on the pegs. Shouldn't bee too terrible...

Revoltechs are mostly for dynamic action posing and the occasional cute thing, monster, or vehicle. It's not really a waifu line, and on top of that most of the female characters that would do well with Revoltech aren't really popular in the waifu community.

Kaiyodo's policy is not to compete head on with other companies, so I think figma line and SHF having more female characters now, they backed off.

I too want more action oriented female characters with Revo. They have good sculptors for that...including Yamaguchi!

They should tackle IPs not pursued by the others. Like more QB! Maybe they didn't sale as much towards the end? I did see lot of the 2P colors on shelves at Yodobashi years ago.

Maybe they lost touch with Hobby Japan. QB Rebellion, Grimoire and Bikini Warriors don't have any action figures being made besides the few Revos for Rebellion.

Fighting games! They did SF before, DOA way back then. again barely done at 1/12 scale.

I think besides competition, the sculptors there are not really into them.

Hoping VulcanLog will change that.

Vulcanlog getting the SFV license would be great. That said, I'd like some SFV SHF as well. It depends on the character. Like, for Shotos, Chun, Nash, Rashid, and Necalli, Revoltech/Vulcanlog would be perfect. On the other hand, I could see Bandai doing a better job with Birdie, Bison, Karin, and some others. Gief, Mika, Laura, Dhalsim, etc. are up in the air.

You see, the joints them selves are loose. But, the the PVC holding the pegs are usually tight, so when you swivel, the hold is too strong so the joints come apart. So Loosening that hold makes the overall articulation less stressful.

Also a good thing to do with today's 6mm joints if they keep popping off.

The 3-piece on don't pop off, but tend to stretch or break.

Don't heat up a thin, hard piece like a sword, horn, etc, might get bent. But paint should be fine from my experience. Either by hot water of hair dryer.

The joints can be put back together with ease.

That said, you're sure the water won't harm the paint? I'd hate to ruin a figure, at roughly $40 a pop and hard to find in the US since they're all older figures and importing is a bitch and takes forever.

Been reading the Japanese Revoltech thread.

Yu-Gi-Oh VulcanLog, seems like they intend to do more than 4...but no official plans. Didn't see the movie so no idea who gets precedence.

And Revoltech Mark 45 uses 4mm joints on the hip armor, so articulation should be pretty good.

Just did it on my Anubis. Damn, it worked perfectly. His arm fins are now perfect after some hot water and bending it carefully with my fingers. Awesome. It was really bugging me that one was bent due to just him being boxed, but it's perfect now.

Originally, Legacy started out as the last breath kind of line, rereleasing their top sellers since UC was going to take over a good chunk of the new releases.

That ideology seem to have stopped now that VulcanLog is in full effect. The last few rereleases are more Sci-Fi Revo heavy, which UC were not involved at all. Next batch seem to be all Gamera so that seems to be continuing.

I think the Legacy releases we saw in 2015 and 2014 are over. Stuff like Yamaguchi Revos, FoNS Revos, and QB Revos are probably not getting rereleased anymore.

Plus they stop calling it Legacy with Thunderbirds, and Gamera will be called Gamera Selected Works.

Monster Hunter, I think it might happen. If it does it probably will be up to UC to do it. So it's a question of hold off a new VL and release old MH, or just keep releasing new ones. Which ever seems more profitable. Maybe after they finish those 3 hunters they might do it. Depending on how they sell.

It's kind of unclear who has control over the old releases. They were distributed by UC back then too.

Well, Jinouga itself is usually around 80-100, and the Hunter is around 60-80. Atop that, I can't find any from US sellers (or if there were, I forgot) so import tax would be applied atop that. Plus shipping, yeah, it'd easily be 200 I'd think.

Yeah Mandarake is what you need man. Those two shouldn't get you at $200 even with the fastest shipping and condition wise Japanese collectors do a solid job keeping stuff intact. Just order what you want off the same store front to combine shipping and go through the details from there. No import taxes to speak of.

Anyone ever thought this was necessary? Or what you are suppose to do? Because it's pretty easy to manipulate the direction of the joints without disassembling the figure.

Unless it's facing a direction it can't bend, embedded in the figure, you never need to do this.

Instruction even says, unlike other action figures, taking it apart and adjusting the direction of the joint is EASIER for posing.

Says this is how they get the poses on the box. Bull shit totally unnecessary.

I get it if it was like "be sure the joint is facing the direction you want" or "the joints are removable and interchangeable" but that's not the actual intention here.

It's just..strange they do this.

I'm pretty new to revo's and most I do is check which direction a joint is facing before I mess with it. Only time I need to manually adjust a joint via removing a limb is when the joint won't twist without me doing so (ie: One side is tighter than the other and takes the part 'with' it when it turns and won't turn if the other part turns).

the armor being floppy would hilariously accurate to the game though, but i think the best course of action for a more articualted figure would be arthur having his undewear mode as a separate body, maybe vanilla armor can come with the body, and a hypotetical golden armor his skeleton mode. this could increase the price though.
this is of course pure conjeture, maybe they can find a way to make the armor removable and not limiting the base body. but seeing that during wonfes they only show the figure in armor and no prototype sighted of the naked body, i doubt that.

Very cool, but the poseability leaves something to be desired - his large gauntlets prevent the wrists from moving as much as I'd like, and he can only hold his sword/gun in the right hand. Also he only gets a 90 degree bend in the arms, and the shoulder flaps make raising his arms over his head impractical. The worst part is that he has two mid-section joints, which is usually a good thing, but here the upper one is loose and somewhat floppy. You don't mind it in standing poses, but if you wanted to make him fly horizontally through the air, his lower half sags down.

With all that said, I really like how the skirt pieces were handled, and his joints are pretty hidden, so the poses that he CAN do, he pulls off very well. It's the traditional trade-off between articulation and looks, and he just comes down on the "looks" side, which is not what I want from a revoltech.

Maybe if I was a fan of his series I'd like him more.

Revolver joints had some packs and color variation, but Mini joints are meant to stay in so such thing is not needed.

My mini-Snake's left leg likes to pop out this socket in the crouch area but only if I do more extreme poses. Other than that he's built nicely, accessory count is fine for what he is as a mini, you may have mixed views on his face but I sort of dig it at this scale. I do remember an anon posting a video on fixing his face shading with an eraser or something.

Also a nice side effect is his pistol manages to fit Figma Solid Snake and look decent without paying for the GSC exclusive.

As well with Figma Snake try to adjust the eyes when you first get him and try to make it work for poses.

It just seems people take shots but forgot the adjust the eyes correctly so his face looks extra bad.

Just a random review but I remember early Yamaguchi shots showing the fun he had with mini-Solid.

The big issue is if he's easily obtainable and the price range didn't go up that high versus Gray Fox. He's very fun to fiddle with but I wouldn't pay some absurd price.

Pocco is a pretty figure, good design, paint, and sculpt.

Not poseable in the action sense, but you can get good glamour shots poses.

Some pieces feels fragile, like the wings. They are very thin.

If not overpriced, go try it out.

My top recommended Frauleins are the last batch of Eva pilot girls though.

Metal Gear ones, whether you like the face sculpts or not, are really fun to pose. I really had fun with my eva revoltechs, but have decided to stop, only giving in for the 4 armed Mk13 Eva. I love my Red Spectacles/Jin Roh revoltech (not exactly from Jin Roh but same IP series). I also love all of my Takeya revo purchases so far, that line is a dream come true, I've been waiting for Takeya to work on revoltechs and for them to be figures based off temple statues, that's amazing as shit for me. Right now I'm on the Jizai Okimono line, another dream come true line for me.

I do like my Alien (big chap) and Argonaut skeleton, but they're not everyone's favorite. Skelly is very popular but a lot complains about how floppy the articulation can get due to how thin the parts are. I love both my argonaut and takeya skeleton revos.

GET THE LEGACY VERSION!

The original one, while the only difference is the joints, makes a big difference. The old joints on 42 were not the best quality joints, being pretty flimsy.

Legacy with the new joints makes it 10 times better.

While it may not look screen acurate proportion wise compare to SHF, I like the Revo quite a bit because I can pose him around without worrying scratching the paint of the thighs or upper arms.

TEchnically te sculpt is pretty acurate but the way they added the Revo joints to the figure made it look a bit odd, like the shoulders sticks out more than it should.

You can search Kaiyodo or revoltech o HLJ and click show discontinued items.

It's been inactive, and is in Japanese mostly, but their home page you can see older stuff in the different sub lines. http://kaiyodo.co.jp/revoltech/

All joints besides the wrists use 3mm pegs, so anything like that will fit nicely.

VulcanLog is a new line handled by a different company basically. It uses the same joints, at times same sculptors from Kaiyodo or other companies that Union Creative distributes for, like Sentinel.

Revoltech for the moment points to figures with the Revolver Joints made by Kaiyodo and distributed by Kenelephant. Those includes the Movie REVO like Ultron, Character REVO like Rilakkuma, and Takeya reltaed stuff like the Horse or Skeleton.

Arc Gurren, Galaxy and Tengen Toppa were only ever released as Revos. Enki, Enkidu and Enkidudu were only released as Revos but have really weird shoulders. Gurren was only ever released as a Revo, I believe, and he has a pretty decent range of motion I guess. Lazengann is a lot of fun. Yoko is very meh and her butt sucks, Neuromancer is better, though it's more expensive and out of scale with anything (1/10ish).

Chouginga and Arc are both really great, the only downside to them is a limited accessory count and minimal hand articulation (the hands plug in and wrists swivel, but no bending). Doesn't mean much since they still look super expressive, but it is something to think about.

Given how much people seem to be scalping the individual popular fig's after doing a bit of research (final episode form GL, the 'regular' GL, Lazen, etc) it'd probably be cheaper for me to snag the set, which is expensive, but not more expensive than individually buying the figures. It'd be cheaper than doing so by quite a bit.

Any issues with those guys, like the wrist thing you mentioned?

The difference with the set is that they have metallic colour finish.

I forget if Yoko had any changes. I think she is the same as the movie version.

Lazengan uses cut joints for the wrists and the hip joints. If you have Eva MP type, basically the same as that. Tengen Toppa also have cut joints wrists, but not an issue really.

Cut joint wrists only feels restrictive if they have guns and swords, and they still can pull off decent poses.

Where are you looking by the way? They can generally be found for pretty cheap on Mandarake when they come up, usually falling between about 15-35 dollars depending on the figure in question.

Really? I've found stuff pretty cheap so far on both.

And I'm just not a fan of self importing. Between the extended wait time, the big-ass fees with trying to get anything in a reasonable time, the possible import fees, the possibility any asshole working in imports can just randomly select your pack and tear it open to make sure you're not importing something illegal, and other little issues, I'd rather just pay the few extra bucks to get something (usually with free shipping) thats already made it safely to the US.

Yeah, revo releases usually go for that much, but supply and demand will shift the prices here and there like with all other series of figures.
Alice in particular was $120+ when I got her. Legacy release tanked her price to about $30, and it's slowly climbing back up.

Nanael, my favorite character with designs from one of my favorite artists, is pretty cheap going for less than $40.

Does anyone with 2p Alleyne have issues with the rash between her chest in pic related? I mean, it's really red and stands out quite a bit. Does the 1p version have this too?

I love Alleyne. Her colors are outstanding. I've got the 1P color, and I haven't noticed a red spot between her breasts like that at all. Probably either something in the 2P version, or a paint app error. A few of my figures have one here or there, nothing big though.

Yeah, you just notice that? They always have.

Think of them as a group of sculptors making what they want to make, and those happen to get mass produced.

They have a line dedicated to making what the CEO wants, figures of vehicles like Gigant, Tortoise, and Shinkai 2000.

That's part of the reason why they happen to do things first, then other companies mimics them seeing that they had success in areas those other companies dare not to risk at.

Those characters are relatively bulky in that series, but the overall Fist of North Star Revoltechs are smaller, so be aware of that. They are maybe about 1/14 scale size.

I just got my Echidna in the mail today, though. Unfortunately, mines leg and waist joints are SUPER floppy. Then again, people told me in these threads older revo's did have floppy joints at times. Ah well. She's still able to hold poses, but I can definitely tell the difference between the old and new joints in the revo's I have.

I don't think so. Optimus got rereleases, at least twice. Bumblebee got Legacy release as well. And Optimus had the jet wing version.

They were pretty good figures, probably the best thing to come out of those movies...

I too doubt we will see any more TF Revos. Maybe movie related but anything else Takara will handle it. They seem pretty active with collector aimed stuff with all the MP, QTF, Diaclone, etc.

Ah, as expected. At the time some were like 50:50 with the 6mm joints. Before I replaced most of them with the flesh joints pack I did coated the loose joints with super glue, so you could try something like that.

Just take the joint apart and coat it with something to increase friction.

History lesson...

Revoltech was pretty much the first action figure series to make random stuff. Before that figure line will be dedicated to a specific franchise like DB, Gundam, Kamen Rider and they will just make stuff from those shows, with occasional outliers (MSIA Offshoot or Metal Heroes Souchaku Henshin). Kaiyodo was like that too.

But they started to make random selection of robots and soon started the Revoltech figures where the concept was to have three distinct lines, Humanoid, Real Reobots, and Super Robots released monthly at easy to collect price.

SH Figuarts, Robot Damashii, and figma started soon after and they too adapted this style of cherry pick release instead of being dedicated to a specific franchise.

That's how I see it anyways. Trying to explain why they don't make more from this or that. They shown it was better to cover a wider range than focus on one thing. When they did they end up with a couple shelf warmers like QB and Muv Luv. Because at the end you ran out of profitable characters from that property, so it's better to move on to another one.

Even at the time she came out, she was highly sought after because she can become almost completely nude. Many wanted the figure to body swap with figma, etc, because at the time there were very few blank female body at that scale.

Well, it's the revoltech balls themselves on mine that are loose, not the holes the pegs slot into. Floor polish (on transformers at least) is used similar to how super glue would be used to tighten joints on figures, by adding gunk that'll gum it up a bit/coat the insides and create a bigger surface of sorts. Difference is with floor polish, you'll never risk freezing the joint like you would with super glue.

It's usually used on ball joints and friction joints though, dunno how it'd work with ratchets which I assume is what's in a revo joint.

You wait till the glue drys. How difficult is that? Or do they put it on while still attached to something? Morons.

You take the joint apart to the three pieces, and coat the inside surfaces with whatever you're using. Should improve the joints.

What's hard to understand? QB figures can strip while other figures can't, so use those bodies to make other figures naked. Also useful customization body I bet.

1/12 Obitsu body came much later too, I think.
We are just now getting all the blank bodies done properly (first figma ones were a joke...) so respect for Kaiyodo doing something like that years ago.

Freezing a joint usually comes from figures that you use it on that can't be disassembled easily. Revo's are different, they're made to be taken apart. Imagine if you tried to superglue on a revo ball while it was still in a revo fig.

Yeah, that's an automatic never do that because it's stupid act to me. Almost all joints can be taken apart unless it's that pressed metal pin one or sandwiched between glued pieces, so I assume people take the joints apart when they glue them.

Both of these figures came with the Vanquished Queen's artbook, so their high price was expected, but some people are separating the two and selling them standalone; the artbook around and over $50 and the figure over $120.
I wouldn't mind a legacy release for just the figures.
