But the fandom has always been about cliques, all the way back to ATT. These cliques and their followers split off into different fiefdoms. They warred against each other until all succumbed to boring sameness. Alot of creative people have left, leaving behind the authoritarians, autists, and casuals.
I don't know what you think of Maz over at TFW. Some of his articles have historical significance. Used to be more people doing stuff like that. The rest are just milquetoast love-everything-passionate-about-nothing with a polished presentation.
Same with art, though that decline started almost immediately after Dreamwave popped up. I'm actually glad the blatant I-can-copy-Pat-Lee-please-hire-me crap has died down. But the interesting stuff is gone and not coming back.
