The more I look at Okoto script, the more I like it. It has much more of an ancient writing vibe than Matoran, but the underlying rules are similarly simple, so it's still easy to learn.

Runes on the Mask of Creation and Mask of control are not part of the Okoto Alphabet, and appear to be some sort of other language or other type of character, a rune that gives the masks their power. They are not the only exception to this rule though, as the Nuva symbols that appear on the Uniters are also in the same style as the Okoto Alphabet and appear side by side at times like on Ikir's temple (could possibly represent the names of the Toa who knows).

Isn't the point of double-jointed knees so that they can bend beyond 90 degrees? And I'd consider ading to/changing the arms. The basic ccbs bone-and-shell combo seems rather lackluster compared to the rest of the build. But those are mostly just nitpicks. Other than that you've made a good moc, and you did a great job at patching up the back and sides.

The price of most sets in other Lego themes was always around 10 cents per piece, but for some reason Bionicle sets are getting more expensive considering their piece count.
I was wondering what's the reason behind it.

In most cases, yeah, but here it's so the knees can bend at all. I'm working on some fixes for the back of the legs at the moment, but progress is slow.

I completely agree, but at this juncture I'm so glad that I got the rest of the build to work at /all/ that making custom arms is kinda low on my list of priorities.
That being said, I have some ideas involving Technic Hockey helmets, but they're deceptively impossible to work with.

As a sidenote, you have NO IDEA how badly I want a CCBS T-joint ballcup.
They're indispensable for building custom limbs, but my fuck are the "arms" fragile.
I've have dozens, but about a third of them are practically useless from Cracked Socket Syndrome.

It's due to big parts and unique molds throwing the average off.
The Masters had a GREAT PPA because they reused so many parts, and most of the newer parts were shared between sets.

The Uniters, on the other hand, have more unique parts per set (as well as bigger parts like the chests), and are thus more expensive.

Then you're using it wrong. Notice how in almost every official use of the piece it has something attaching at the side axle sockets to hold the assembly together. That's how the piece was intended to be used. The single axle socket at the top isn't meant to hold an entire limb on its own, it needs to be reinforced to be used to its full potential.

Firstly, they only have one point of connection: a little axle-slot tab that's meant to hook under the weird "occipital bun" on the back of McToran heads.

The "tab" protrudes 1.5M into the interior of the "helmet," so you can't connect a ballcup to it from the outside, and the interior of the helmet is sculpted with a ridge down the middle so you can't connect anything longer than 1M to the inside either.

It might not sound like much, but these design flaws prohibit a shitload of building techniques that seem possible until you actually have the piece in-hand.
There are a bunch of other subtly infuriating quirks about the piece that you'll discover soon enough, but those are the big ones.

Basically, Hockey helmets look like they'd be perfect for making hips or shoulders, but actually getting them to work that way, look solid, AND have any sort of articulation is a process so hard that you might as well grind your nuts down to the pelvis with a belt sander now and cut out the middleman.

So I'm doing a test sort of thing, going to dial back some since I'm clearly not skilled enough to be making molds of complex items yet. Making a Krana should be roughly the same as making a Mata mask, but much smaller.

I think the idea was that they felt the old dark gold didn't look gold enough, hence the new more gold-colored gold introduced in 06, unfortunately it doesn't look as metallic and believable as the old dark gold.

They're most likely using the clicky jaw hinges they introduced in the Chima Ultrabuilds of 2013. The top half would have the G2 mask connection, and the lower half would have enough of a gap to open freely.

I'm gonna guess that they made the masks fuckhuge in order to trigger the jaw by pushing down on the back of the brainstalk without launching the mask off since it has a large cavity inside. No idea about Umarak though, maybe his just doesn't move?

The entirety of the winter wave of 2015 was 18-19 minutes of content divided into many segments, each of those tiny segments had a small recap of the previous segment, so the effective time was far smaller than the 18 minute total runtime. The pacing was also fucked because of it being divided into small segments, rather than the overall length of the series.

Journey to one's first half will have a total run time of 44 minutes, well over twice the length of the winter animations combined, on top of that it will not need nearly as much time devoted to recapping the previous episode since there are only two, and the fact that they dont need to pace it for 90 second episodes means everything can flow together better.

Also we have known JtO was 4 episodes for months now why are you complaining now.

Are you literally ten years old? These are the most slapdash things I've ever seen on /biog/.

First of all, slapping together parts of existing sets wholesale doesn't make it an MOC. Secondly, you need to make your builds more complex. When you're putting less effort into your builds than official sets (head, arms, legs, done!) you know you're not trying hard enough.

The skeletons at least introduced a bunch of new parts while the beasts and Ekimu don't even have new weapons, bones or anything.
Just some crystal piece that doesn't even connect to shells but directly to the bones, a lower jaw and two masks with the rest being the same stuff we've seen dozens of times.
Hell, even just introducing parts that haven't been in CCBS sets but totally should like this one here would've been a start.

Apparently kids are so retarded that not only do they need the pins and axles to be every color of the rainbow in order to tell them apart, but also need pins to tell them what holes NOT to put pins into.

Tahu has his on his lower legs so you know to put the longer trans neon orange bones on his legs and not the short ones (since the short ones dont have the hole on the back).

On Grievous its to tell you not to put the small fut too far back into the big foot piece.

On the sets with it on their back, its telling you not to put the gearbox there.

Alright, so from what I can tell, the heads are tall enough that the eye stalk doesn't knock off the mask, and instead acts as a lever that opens and closes the jaw.

Friction will be low / nonexistant, but at least there's a cool chomping action feature.

Look again, you can see the brown axle end on the part that the hordika neck attaches to. That is a 3m axle with stopper, which goes into a pin hole on the black technic piece.

The bright gray technic piece in the middle of the back is part of a separate assembly adjacent to the arms, the arms don't attach to it.

Well the dremmel is really just to do the door real quick. All I did was cut a coconut in half with a small handsaw and scoop out the insides with a fork and pocket knife. Then the rest is just with sand paper. I mean yeah, I could've gone with foam or something like it, but I'd rather have a nice sturdy little hut instead of an easily breakable one. I did a Mata Nui statue out of wood not too long ago and figured a little wooden hut would look good along with it and my villagers.

Not to mention, I got the coconut for a buck and I'm a DIY woodworking type. Two huts for a dollar ain't half bad.

Star Wars and Harry potter had good sales sure, but because of the licensing fees, the actual amount of money lego was getting out of it was fairly low and because they were losing money from other themes, they were in a bad way.

Bionicle is what kept them going until they got out of their economic slump by being extremely successful in terms of sales, and required no fees be payed for use of the license.

Hell fucking Jorgen Vig Knudstrorp himself has said that Bionicle is the line that saved lego.

I know shitposters always cite the lego movie example, but the lego movie was about lego, the lego system, Bionicle has generally stayed clear of lego crossovers in the past to preserve it's own canon, and since it was a discontinued line at the time of the lego movie, there was no need to give it a cameo much less have it as an integral part of the movie.

Ninjago and Nexo Knights make more money now and get their televisions shows and what not because Lego wants to promote their brick system, not spin-offs like Technic and CCBS, plus Ninjago and Nexo Knights are themes that appeal more to the short-attention span smartphone using youths of today, while Bionicle is a much more niche market compared to what things were like 5 years ago.

What the hell even is this wave? What were the design choices? Whoever in their right minds thought these monstrosities could pass as a wave should be fired. This wave still doesn't even look real to me. This is by far, the worst thing I have ever seen Lego approve. What this will do to Bionicle anticipates me. The only selling point of the new masks, and the trans-parts. That's legitimately it. There is no other reason to buy these, and I'm hoping Lego will get themselves together, or else G2 is dead.

Went for a Dark Hunter vibe here, working with the rudimentary gearbox as the focal point.
It was originally gunna be on his back, but I liked it too much to use it for something so passive. So I opted to have it on his left arm as a spinning shield, similar to what Icarax and Mistika Tahu had.

I'll be happy to do so after work. A heads up though, it's more of a diorama piece than an actual prop. The thing is actually in scale with minifigs. I mean, all things considered you'd need a hut the size of a basketball if you wanted it to scale properly with a Mctoran and I'm more in it for a visually appealing shelf than a functional village. Not to mention I'd have nowhere to put a 1:1 Mctoran and house.

It's because Ketar's unity piece sits very loosely on him and wobbles around, in order to make the unity mode work you need to wrap Ketar's legs around whoever he is uniting with in order to stabilize him, and then put the head over the mask.

Unless you are just talking in general and not with Ketar in which case I dont know, didn't have that problem.

The zamor launcher is probably easiest to integrate into a design and most consistent at firing correctly. At least in my opinion although the midak launchers were my favourite.

Bionicles are getting harder to find in my town, I couldn't even find four unique Toa between between the five department stores my town has. As much as I'd love imagine they're flying off the shelves and they can't get enough in stock, the truth probably is they aren't getting restocked and the shops are just getting rid of what they have.

I joined /biog/ since the very first grayscale leak of Bioncle 2.0 and I've kept it pinned in a tab since then.

/toy/ is obviously where I found out about it.

To be honest, I stopped buying G1 sets at Hordika. I'd buy maybe a stray small set or two but that was it. I briefly bought a bunch of sets during Phantoka but the pieces broke so I dropped it.
To be honest, I was more relieved than sad when it was discontinued, though when it rebooted I couldn't have been happier, it was like connecting with an old friend.

A month. There was a great bonkle nostalgia thread on /v/ a while ago and it made me feel things I hadn't felt for years.

I'd known about G2 since we first heard word of it back in 2014, but I was oblivious to the official return in 2015. And now here I am, primed for 2016's story.

Stuck around until the very end, then I just stopped half a year later. I'd bought one set from HF Breakout, but that was it.

I've been on /biog/ since late December of 2014.
Found out through TTV on youtube,I also tried the forum bit it wasn't very comfortable for me.

Call me a nostalgiafag, but the sets and story this time around are just not the same.

I want to like them, I really do, but this summer wave just feels so uninspired. Reused builds, and very few new molds or even recolors.

And the story is not as exiting and compelling as it could (or should) be. They've barely developed Okoto and its culture, which is essential to get fans invested in the lore.

My Little Pony was a good reboot. The new Bionicle...really isn't. It feels like Lego is half-assing everything.

I honestly just picked something that wasn't used yet, plus I gave the idea a stupid of her chasing after Pohatu as some fan girl "off screen".
But yes she can manipulate the speed of her surroundings be it living or not, and as an extra boost the staff of speed can be used.

have you considered magnetism? I imagine the same effect could be achieved with that, and since magnetism's vanilla color scheme is rarely ever used for it, there's really no conflict there. Gravity or psionics could also be applied in such a manner, if you stretch a bit.

Very good set, 10/10 would recommend. Infected Haus look fantastic, combiner is incredible, they're fun to battle with, and if you get bored with them it is a WEALTH of technic parts.

Tarakava's function still works when the rubber bands break off, granted it's nothing special. They're also more solid-looking designs. Yeah, they're mostly just sticks on wheels but they at least feel "complete", whereas the tiger and the bull only have their upper bodies fully built. Though the latter two's bulkiness, the neat-looking heads, the great jaw-function (if you replace the rubber bands) and the painted Haus work to their advantage. On the other hand, the Tarakava have some nice teal pieces.

I love both sets to the same degree but I like the overall designs and builds of the Tarakava more.

Oh man, that's a really hard question. If you REALLY like functions probably Tarakava, their punching works really well and absolutely BTFOs figures. Muaka's are cool because they can grab sets and fling them but nothing beats a Tarakava punch. I still prefer Muaka and Kane Ra for being meatier but you really can't go wrong with either.

Muaka and Kane Ra have a better combiner though.
