Eh, theres no helping people who can't distinguish artwork from reality. Even the 3D models they use for shots can be off, or angled to give better shots for a toy, like Brawl's which hid his waist.

And at least the art isn't G1 levels of impossible for a toy.

A weird thing about Beast Machines is that during the design process, one concept artist designed the robot mode and another designed the beast/vehicle mode which is probably why some of them look real funky.

Rescue bots are a bit primitive, too kiddy. I'd pick of versions of the characters done in Generations though.

Can we remember the way that Hasbro sold us all on the original Classics line?

We had just rid our selves of the Unicron Trilogy, where many fans felt alienated by the "gimmicks" of the lines, and in order for Hasbro to get people back on board, they said this in a press conference: "Transforming IS the gimmick" and everyone rallied behind them.

Here we are though, a gross continuation of gimmicks, now with classics characters...

I don't mind gimmicks, what I do mind is when they force in characters into the gimmicks, who've never had them before, and overshadow the actual characters who are known for those gimmicks, thats how it was for CW and I reckon that's how it'll be for Titans return.

There was an episode about that drink slurm, anyway the plan was they treated people to the new slurm, people would rush to that, miss the old slurm, then bring that back as "classic slurm".

Same plan here, the next line after titan wars would be back to "classic" transformers.

Either that or they can do multiple gimmick types at once which I'd prefer, still have fond memories of micro masters, gestalts and just generally big stocky bots coming in all at once.

The Unicron Trilogy toyline was mostly good save for a few duds. It's just the Unicron Trilogy show that was garbage. (though I enjoyed the Unicron Battles portion of Armada)

It will be good though when we have another straight line, I'd imagine that the figures would be better on the whole, without having to combine or incorporate a headmaster, probably not though with Hasbro.

My biggest hope for the Prime Wars trilogy is that Hasbro sticks to the standards they set for the gimmicks: ie. Future combiners keep using CW ports, future standalone Headmasters would remain TR-compatible, etc.

It's been great that a majority of figures still have the 5mm ports that originated in G1; that Mini-Cons and Microns outside of RID have kept the Armada peg. I want the same to happen to the CW port.

I've got a copy of the Dead End/Streetwise mold at my desk and comparing the two they don't appear to actually share any parts. The most similar areas – pelvis, fists, elbows, thighs, forearms – are all *slightly* different. Looks like 100% new tooling that very closely apes the Dead End mold.

I'm at a loss as to why they would do it this way.

Scourge looks pretty great too. Never thought I'd be interested given the GOAT Generations deluxe, but that alt mode is pretty neat. It's fairly convincing as an X-33 type lifting body shuttle.

Even then, not really. Parts of them are the same shape, but other areas like the bits of car fascia are completely different. Im ure the engines just copied the Dead End CAD model parts and modified/rescaled them, but that technically makes them new parts rather than shared parts. At least as far as the physical tooling goes (which is basically what defines a retool).

The jet kibble really changes the silhouette from the Blurr mold. It makes both toolings good representations of their characters (unlike perhaps CW Swindle).

I don't know what went wrong, but the toy really missed the right time in the hype cycle to come out. Should have came out at the same time as the Combiner Hunters pack/comic.

Although she is semi-relevant in the comics, maybe she'll have a big arc when this finally comes out.

Fine, the "marketing" cycle. My point isn't about the character or any tinfoil hat conspiracies about it, it's just that they marketed the toy heavily when the poll was on the go, and had her huge comic debut all without the product hitting anywhere close.

Regardless of how you feel about the toy or characters, I think we generally know it's a good idea to have your supporting media timed to the release of product and vice versa.
