why not call it a toy maker? is the word toy associated with something bad despite being developed by a toy company to produce self made toys? I guess they should call it a figure maker and print off high end statues like milk chan from that lotte milk contest Japan had a few years ago

We don't know what the resolution of the printed objects will be or the durability of the plastic.
It could only print approved objects and be otherwise useless. There's a lot of uncertainty here.

The toy was a oven like devise that allowed you to make "things" hence thing maker.

You might better remember it as "Creepy Crawlers". You used it to make rubbery insects, monsters and the like. But older versions allowed you to make jewelry little toy men like super heroes.

Looks like its fairly decent quality for a 3d printer that's under $500. Hopefully these models are representative of the real thing. They at least look 3d printed.

You can get basically the same thing at Barnes & Noble right now for $100 more, and it doesn't have the app-only requirement.

I do like how the pre-made models are similar to Xevoz, though.

3D prints aren't fragile. The interlayer adhesion is almost as strong as liquifying the plastic together depending on the quality of the plastic filament you use. And it will help, as it creates better adhesion seamlessly across the surface, like putting a shell around it.

Don't expect the printer to paint it, sand it, apply a finish, or do anything other than print it, and you probably could have it build you a copy of the model with a lot of defects.

Hopefully they will have an advanced mode, or at least allow the printer to be used with other cad programs. I assume it can be hooked to a computer to be controlled.

IF that's the case I'm sure someone would be able to find some sort of workaround.

In the endI suppose its a good starter 3d printer for people to get used too.
