Thoughts on Mezco and this line?

I'm super tempted. Billy is my favorite superhero of all time. This looks pretty good, but would also probably be the most expensive toy I've ever bought.

Tell me it's gonna be good.

I love my Batman, love my Dredd, am looking forward to Star Trek, but everything else has been a dud save for a single Punisher variant.

Mezco needs to unfuck themselves and realize that people are looking past a lot of obvious flaws just because they're in the honeymoon period with this line. When that's over and the fanboy nitpicking gets back to normal levels they're going to have a hard time selling a $75 figure with a cape that looks like they stole it off of a Barbie doll. The sense of realism kind of fades away when it looks like the cape is just hovering above his shoulders.

Maybe, but they at least have some defining features that make them look superhero-y.

In Cap's case the square face and squinty eyes, both are missing.

Body and suit look fantastic though, I may have to get it anyway.

While I agree that the squinty eyes and square jaw is the classic Captain look, those are exaggerated features for a comic book. These toys are supposed to look realistic and unfortunately giving him those features will just make him look like an Asian with a fat face.

They can do it realistically, Alex Ross practically did that for them already, have you seen Sideshow's Superman? Both the premium format and the 1/6 figure? They're pretty realistic without losing the essence of the characters.

His jaw is not the problem, the problem is that they made the body too skinny and the head too big, the headsculpt by itself is perfect.

Maybe I'm nitpicking with Shazam, but it's because I'm so spoiled by their Batman, that figure is an eye pleacer.

The floating problem exists because the strand across the neck looks completely disconnected. It's just bobbing up in the air. I don't see how that's going to be fixed when posing the rest of the cape. It just looks cheap and poorly done.

They really blew it by not just doing this image. The simplicity and clear fastenings would have made it so much easier to avoid landmines and be better looking. Instead it's... whatever it is. Garbage, I guess.

And this isn't really any different than what Hasbro/Toy Biz does with their Marvel characters, except they don't go the extra mile with the paint apps.
It's pretty common for the sculptor to base a head on someone they know.

This is Mezco's version of Marvel Legends, with a few iconic designs and actors thrown in.

This shouldn't be surprising, considering this is what most artists do when drawing/painting/sculpting faces.

Pretty excited for their BvS and Punisher figures. I was hoping they'd do a Wolverine or Dr. Doom but apparently they can't do mutants or Fantastic Four characters. I know it'll never happen but I'd be ecstatic if they got the Metal Gear Solid license.
