eh..I'm pretty burnt out on G1 myself. Nothing wrong with it, but its like so much stuff has been limited by trying to be somewhat faithful to it.

I miss the Armada through ROTF era when we got a ton of variety in alt-modes and characters. We used to get submarines, speedboats, forklifts,bi-planes, all sorts of stuff.now we're lucky if we get anything that isn't a street vehicle, helicopter, or jet. Even k=luckier if its a vehicle that wasn't from G1.

I think it's mainly because I want to see a traditionally drawn well done battle between combiners, I think this belongs more on /co/ though so I wont talk much more about it.

Where is all the "Bayformer shit" right now, then? Movie lines die in less than a year now. Hasbro's got no real control over the movies, anyway, that's all Paramount. And they aren't going to stop anytime soon.

That's pretty much what Animated was though. G1, and the whole concept of Transformers being simple vehicles, is a little burned out. We need something to shake the series up again, a la Beast Wars/Machines. WfC/FoC and Animated covered the "pre-G1" era pretty well, a G2 cartoon series as brutal as actual G2 would never fly, etc.

Well, no, but it definitely is the reason its as successful as it is now. If not for them, it'd probably be just like the UT days still; random name reuses, only about 40 new molds at retail a year, no Classics line, only a handful of collector's toys like MPs a year.

It really was barely a line, though, more like a one-off thing that got legs. 3 out of the first 4 releases were all Optimus or Optimus repaints. They had so little faith in the line they hired Shoji Kawamori to do some touches on Starscream to promote it, and it was a completely different size compared to Optimus. we'd get like one new mold ever year or every two years. Really it feels like it wasn't really a focussed thing until Grimlock or Rodimus.

And they still had worse articulation than RiD toys a few years earlier. Man, Armada really drove things into the stone age. That period from late G2 through RiD was full of constant progression and improvement(and half of Beast Machines) and then American parent's complaints just clipped the designers wings.

The only bad thing about Beast Machines were the show toys.
Pretty much every toy-only toy was great, though sometimes hindered by stupid decisions like using transparent plastic everywhere or giving Snarl plastic AIDS.

The movie did a lot to get more eyes on TF, but the franchise wasn't dead. The toys from BW-Cybertron had plenty of shelf space and support from all major retailers, and the numbers were apparently okay. There was still nostalgia for the brand and a big-ass budget for the movie, and it would have been pushed like crazy no matter who directed the thing. Michael Bay doesn't give a fuck about Transformers outside of how much money he gets paid to keep showing up. You can attribute everything to the movies as entities, but the "Michael Bay - specifically - saved Transformers" shit is just a step too far. We'd be fine if someone else had been in his spot. I don't see how that's still being spouted all these years later.

Just got Onslaught in the mail today!

Initial thoughts:
>onslaught's head is like dark brown rather than the black i expected- weird
>as a stand-alone toy, the mold's basically a better version of hotspot (though i prefer hotspot's deco)
>torso mode is a bit more solid, both thighs clip in properly now
>those parts that lock in to form proper knees on Onslaught are really stiff
>I like how the new back cannon piece means you can transform onslaught into altmode or combiner mode without taking the cannons off and moving them
>bruticus has a (limited) balljointed neck. pretty cool.
>arms dont tab as well together in combined mode compared to my hotspot, but this time they have gravity to help
>back cannons look super dinky on bruticus. Way smaller looking than I expected- i'll probably buy some upgrade back cannons
>combiner port plugs on shoulders just kinda dangle, but every other torso bot did that too I suppose

And as far as the toys being so amazing all because of the movies, it helped the budget for a while - but how much bitching has this board seen the last few years given hollow parts, shrinking sizes, and lacking parts and paint op counts? The economy still hit us hard. DOTM and AOE were huge, but it's not as if was enough to keep the "god tier" ROTF engineering you always hear about going more than a year or two.

You might want to consider switching to an alternate torso configuration. The standard hotspot one has yielded the best results I've found, though it is one of many. Pulling the combiner tabs down really helps fill out his silhouette.

I've found that if one of the deluxes doesn't have a good place for the hand/foot gun, just giving them to the voyager they pair with is an okay option. Onslaught looks aiight with the Hotspot guns on his back while dual wielding two hand/foot guns.

Construct Bots weapons work with CW as well, and you can always troll ebay for cheap KO sets or people just selling the old G1 stuff for parts.

I'm surprised Hasbro hasn't tried this. Some sort of 5mm accessory pack for your figures. You could even bundle it with a few minicons or something like that if you wanted to keep a transforming component.

I use Silverbolt guns too, if you have 3 extra hand/foots you can beef up Bruticus, plug one at each side on the canon ports and then use the 3rd to plug the 2 canons.

So i ordered some hands and feet for galvatronus from Uncle Billy and when I did order them they let me know of the holiday. Fine. Whatever. 3 weeks ago they emailed me saying my item was shipped. Never received them.

Got an email yesterday saying my buyer protection for it was going to expire so I should dispute now or never. I disputed and uncle Billy gave me a refund saying "we haven't shipped it because of the holiday remember?" I'm sorry, but shouldn't you not mark it as shipped then?

I'm not mad, but I don't even feel like getting hands and feet for galvatronus or battle coremus anymore. I got the officials for defensor and I do love the feet, but the weapons suck and the hands don't work too well.

Kind of lost the want to make these guys poseable when they pretty much sit stock still since the ankles aren't too strong.

Dealing with the same thing with Uncle Billy except I ordered them in December. Still haven't gotten them.
