I promised myself I'd get SAS Robin, Revoltech Kinnikuman, and Figuarts Terryman. I figure it'll give me three actually different figures with different body types, instead of the same frame but different faces, if I'd gone all from one line. Sadly, Figuarts hasn't held up their end of the deal yet.

My only complaint would be that because of how his arms are built, doing the classic strongman pose looks weird, because the inside of his arms/armpits are scooped out. But 70% of the time I just have him suplexing various other figures, and he looks great doing that.

Although what they think might sell is, well, unique (Buddha, horse, JSDF prototype fighter, research submarine, giant soft vinyl statues...) but I guess they are targeting a different group than other companies.
MGS stuff, I still think video game characters are not well known to enough people to get sub-characters made. MH is the big exception since the game is super popular in Japan.
Union Creative is more focused on current IPs so they did movie versions. And I believe Legacy was a limited time thing before they used up the factory line for VulcanLog.
It used to be ''make everyone for popular series'' for big companies like Bandai with Souchaku Henshin and MSIA, but now especially for smaller companies they need to cherry pick main characters that will sell. Fuck how many figma Sabers were there before Archer? SHF Kamen Riders still have a good completion percentage over the years. SAS JoJo stuff is like the exception.

Hey guys, I got an Iron Man from Revolmini but one of his arms keeps popping out whenever I try to pose as if the peg hole is not big enough for the peg. Any tips on what can I do? Can I reach Revoltechs support?
Anonymous
>>5687346 I *think* you could try heating up the joint by immersing the joint in hot water from your sink, or boiling water for a few seconds. Or a hair dryer.
Or you can try using a tweezer or similar to just work around in the hole to widen it a tiiiny bit.
Anonymous
>>5687355 I can back up. I softened the arm/peghole but also the joint in hot water for a minute. After that I put them together while they were still soft and squeezed a bit so they can refit themselves without the peghole being too big but just enough to fit the joint for a proper fit. After that I put the figure in cold water and left it there for about 5 or so minutes. Now I can rotate and position the arm without it popping out the shoulder joint.

The bulk of their business, even before Revoltech, came from capsule figures and products aimed at older audiences (miniature animal and plant replicas, etc.). That's the main reason we've gotten things like the Danboards, Rilakkuma and other mascots, and the Takeya line - rather than the usual "try to predict what will be popular and milk it before nerds move on to the next thing" strategy employed in this field, Kaiyodo instead tries to woo people who don't normally buy posable figures in the hopes of creating new buyers.

So I just got Stitch and he's barely a Revo (only one joint) but I love him. This is what modern Revo should be. I really don't mind the small 3 mm Revo joint, I think they're lovely to hold pose. However the bigger Revo joints are problematic and needs to go, or at least redesigned to allow more rachet angles. I always liked Revo selection and licenses more than Figuarts or Figma. I hope they hold their Disney licenses and continue making things like this, plus maybe more vidya stuff to make niche of themselves since Figma already had animu on lockdown and Figuarts had capeshit, star wars, and dragon ball.

Anonymous
>>5695298 Yeah, but the issue is kind of specific to the bigger joints now. The 3mm joints are excellent and in general I am in favor of Revo rachets. I love that Revo guys don't shift and lean on display. For example, NECA xenos would greatly benefit from Revo trademark joints. These guys have twig arms and legs, but burly body, head and tails and because of that they barely hold their pose. Some of them are too loose and have floppy joints, while the one that has tight joints kind of break a lot.

So im new to Revoltech. Can anyone explain to me the main price difference/quality between Figma and Revoltech? I've got a revo Schwarzesmarken TSF and I really like it, other than it being really fiddly to get parts to fit onto it, it looks great. Are they smaller than Figma or something? They seem to come with more accessories than Figma at the very least, but I ive not had an actual human Revol so im not sure what to think.
Anonymous
>>5695869 Depends who you pick up honestly. Venom Snake and Revo Ultron are newest ones from Vulcanlog which is still Revoltech and they are far bulkier than most of my figmas. Especially if you compare Venom to Figma Solid Snake.
>>5693487 Anon here gives an idea of what Revoltech is but price is something someone else can answer.
Anonymous
>>5695869 Revo's are around 6" tall depending on figure. Honestly the only real difference is the joints and the sculpts. Revo's usually use...Revoltech joints! Which people may or may not hate, they're just ratchet joints, which are used in a lot of figure lines (Transformers notably use them often).
And figmas use whatever, usually ball joints.
Prices vary a lot, but have gone up recently because plastic/labor costs have gone up.
tl;dr If you like it, buy it. Sticking to any one brand is dumb.
Anonymous
>>5695869 Revoltech name comes from the trademark rachet joint - Revoltech. Some people hate it, but most people here love it. It is a bit weird at first, but when you pose it right unlike other joint Revo joints are bombproof - they won't lean, lose pose, or slide out. Barring a clear design flaw (like using joint that is too small), Revo joint just doesn't get loose period.
Both Revo and Figma cater to anime/pop culture fans. Revo line selection is more of a "bro" anime, and focuses a lot on mechas like ZOE, Eva, Getter Robo, Gurren Lagann etc or anime like Sengoku Basara while Figma is more focused on waifus.
Anonymous
>>5695911 >Figma is more focused on waifus. I dunno, figma hasn't put out a line of lewd as fuck titty monsters with actual tits and lightly sculpted vagina yet like revo has.

>>5696703 I think those have high potential of sale to non-collectors, the normal folks.
Art references could sell with all the aspiring illustrators, manga artists and animators in Japan, and a blank fun posing figure have a low line of entry for someone to just pick it up compare to all the licenced stuff.
Also, Kaiyodo have actual sales data on this. When a manga artist was featured on TV (forgot who it was), he was shown using an AB guy as posing reference, and a lot of people hunt down what that figure was, and the stock of Last Run AB sold out in an instant. I thought they would make more AB in future but I think they might actually go for the base body blank.
