Managed to sneak a pre-order of the hi metal vf-1A, and got me a cheap second hand vf-1j from mandarake, its the damn roy focker vf-1s I crave, I wanted arcadias but I don't have the room.
>>5673101>But Seriously, how come no one is making some kind cheap HGUC like model (part-forming) for Macross stuff? We have bandai's 1/72 kits, they look the part if you throw the water slides/stickers (you get options for both) and do some panel line work.
They're essentially what you're asking for since they're from the same makers of gundam models ie hguc (btw hguc is a subline of the hg models, high grade universal century, uc era stuff).
4 problems lie with the vf-1 models from bandai, the battroids are kinda flimsy and may need modifications, they are fully transformable (no parts forming), and they have screws whcih can put people off, oh and they're models but you knew that.
Otherwise the gimmix line from tomytech, they're 1/144 (same as hg models), they require glue BUT they're fully painted with markings pre-applied, the battroid doesn't look dynamic with only a few posing options and once built its stuck in its assigned mode (you can buy it in battroid, Valkyrie or the 2 mode set which lets you mix the 2 sets of parts together to make the guardian at the cost of it being 2 models).
Pic related, I built a few regular fighters from the same line, VERY nice
