>>5693035I wish I knew on the comics.
Years ago I had been catching up on them with the collected volumes, then they did that "fresh start reboot" with RiD and MtMtE and I hopped on there. It was all right for a bit but it started becoming the same random cludgy mess that the pre Death of Optimus books had been.
Problems that always seem to show up in TF fiction eventually, regardless of medium.
TF just has too many characters. Most of them just have to be stereotypes to get any character.
The "eternal 4 million year war" is kind of lame. How do the same 500 or so being battle for that fucking long?
No real love/sex/gender. I think the basoc idea of robot sex is dumb but I mention this for a different point. A lot of basic plot tropes are derived from relationships. When 99% of your cast is male warriors, you reduce the types of relationships you can use to drive plots to like 2-3. This severely limits the types of plots that can be pushed so things get a bit repetitive.
The Transformers universe really needs more exploration of other races. This has been touched in some but a sustained non Transformers enemy could do the fiction a lot of good. And you can't tell me a war that spans the galaxy for 4 million years hasn't made some enemies.
