So it's likely the beasts arrive pretty soon. Not going to buy them from S@H now.

I've heard something similar from Norway so I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case for Sweden as well.

Well, there was a SDCC mask made for last year and Bionicle wasn't really present. I could see a variant of Umarak's Mask since they don't seem to want to use the important masks for their color variants.

I don't get what happened with Koopaka.

He had a spear and a shield in 2015, then he swapped for a gun and a sword, and then lost a lot of his armor.

I can understand upgrading weapons and stuff, but they changed his entire motif.

But to answer >>5695944's question, my favorites are Tahu and Onua. Gali and Koopaka are okay, and Lewa and Pohatubare eh.

Same here.
Weirdly enough they were putting stuff on clearance from various themes yesterday (Prisma)
and the bonkle shelf only is now the only almost empty one with Akidas and Ikirs. They did say that they fill the shelf from left to right and bonkle is on the far right so if they have it coming it would take at max to the next Monday for someone to put them on the shelves according to the employee.

Some guy also on Norway mentioned they'll be available on next Monday there despite them also releasing uniters in March there.

So despite it being really odd that the uniters were for sale only three months I'm pretty positive the beasts arrive soon.

I thought G2 was okay, Winter waves were consistently God-tier, Summer waves were consistently eh-tier. Story was good, but essential world-building details weren't given until the second year by which point nobody thought there was any lore or story and didnt bother buying said graphic novels.

Yeah. I really liked the the 2007 set up for the small sets . Would hope to see something similar.

What I mean is that they're Toa with animal headdresses, bird wings, shark fins, tails, or clawed armor. That's the most interesting Toa designs have ever been.

So I was at TRU and saw the new sets, my reaction was a slight gasp, with a quiet whoa afterwards, quake and storm beast were the only ones that looked interesting, but I left the lego aisle and ended up buying a Charizard and Fox amiibo instead. What's that say about my hype? What's that say about this wave?
Are the beasts cooler when built?
Is umarak even redeemable?

You know what G2 is missing? The whole robotic/mechanical aesthetic and feel that the first few years of Bionicle had.

I remember in MNOLG how the characters had those mechanical sounds every time they moved, and how things like the Boxor and Exo Toa existed (The former actually being built by a matoran). G2 just seems to forget all about that and goes for a purely mystical vibe which, while still pretty dope, just doesn't feel the same as G1. I was hoping we'd get some vehicles and maybe some more robotic enemies, but from the way things are going I'm going to guess that the most we'll ever get are those piston pieces and some more Technic/CCBS builds.

Yes and yes. I mean, the beasts still aren't GREAT, but they're definitely cooler in person. And Umarak is actually a really solid set. He's got a few gaps, but I barely notice them because of how jacked and impressive he looks sizing up the Toa.

Amiibo don't really offer anything all that cool in terms of gameplay (except getting the FXchip arwing in Star Fox zero, thats pretty cool) but the sculpts are pretty solid, good for decorating and admiring.

Quake beast has a massive gap an is generally considered the worst by the community. Storm Beast thas an unique function but the open socket and no elbows on the arms is rather questionable.

Lava Beast has the most generic build but it gets the job done without looking too odd and is generally considered the best of the beasts.

Ekimu only has one new piece for the crystal hammer but comes with two really cool mask recolors., light transparent blue mask of creation and Umarak the Hunter's mask dualmolded in trans-orange and gunmetal

Umarak has pieces definetly worth the price but the model itself has some gaps here and there, nothing what I could consider a dealbreaker tho.

Quake and Storm Beasts look cool. I liked the asymmetry on Quake and the Monsterous look of Storm.

Lava needed to look more bat like (which is what I assume they were going for).

But this is just my observation, they didn't have the new sets at the Lego Store when I went today.

Actually they downsized Bionicle's area and moved it.

Not really. It feels too gappy, the arms are pathetic, it barely pulls any parts out of Skull Skorpio and instead opts for a horrendous mishmash of blue gold and red, that and you have to tear apart miniEkimu to build it, which kinda defeats the whole purpose.

Finally got my hands on the whole wave today and tried doing this with QB.
As expected, it VASTLY improves its design.
I also changed the way the parts are attached to the trans-green wheel which puts the arm more closely to the torso but still lets it swing freely.

it could be some kind of arm extension or rocks/crystals on him, but it would have definitely looked better (and increased his desirability) if they were molded in black/purple.

Both will likely be cancelled sometime next year and Lego will wrap up it's think thanks to create a new theme that will try to save constraction. Or they just say fuck it and constraction is dead forever.

Other option I see is that they cancel Star Wars and throw the current Bionicle story and setting out of the window and make a "soft" reboot with new setting and brand new characters.

He looks a lot better in person and the best way to describe him is probably "G2 in a Nutshell": an almost entirely trans-colored figure with gold highlights, gear functions and a a custom-built weapon.
It's definitely not a must-buy for the average fan but for those who want to check out what the line has to offer it's probably one of the better choices.

Unity torso armor is nice simply because it has some level of detail, I would prefer if it was two pieces and not printed, but its better than the godawful torso shells we got last year.

Rahkshi's were great. They had a function that makes them completely immobile but it was executed so well compared to the beasts. Mask gimmick works splendid for the toa with their small eyestalks but with beasts, Umaraks, Basher and Kulta it greatly affects their posability and I def don't want too see any extra appendages that make it even easier after these.

They kept the display but swapped the figs out for Umarak, Pohatu, and Ketar, but strangely enough, with Lewa's golden mask instead of Pohatus. I'm still not sure how they made that mistake.

I was at the Lego store at Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney) in Disney World. Bought Gali and Akida. The display they had up was similar to >>5704539 only it had Kopaka united, Onua, and Uxar. I remember coming here in the early 2000's and the displays they had were way more impressive. Its definitely because of how the line performed back then compared to now, but it sucks to see it this way. In the early 2000's they had a life size Tahu made of bricks, like pic related. Cashier was nice af.

I do have some good news from my area as well. When I went to my local Lego Shop to pick up Wewmarak and Ekiwew, there were more kids clamouring around the Bionicle stuff than were at the Ninjago and Nexo Knights area!

There was, in fact, only one Ekimu left too. The sets that seemed to be getting plucked from the shelves most were Umarak the Destroyer and the remaining beasties that they had (probably because they're pocket money value).

Ekimu is not creative at all but he is a real benchmark in terms of quality. Just a good, solid build with a killer colour scheme and cool weapons that aren't the same sword piece over and over - and at the same price point as Pohatu, Gali and Lewa who all had their rather significant flaws.

I admit I was skeptical about him before, but in-hand he's amazing.

Lava Beast is fine but yeah, Storm and Quake beast need some major tweaking and Umarak could use some too, depending on your preferences.

I think we need to wait for more people to get their hands on them first. Hell, I have some minor Umarak fixes in mind but I still need a second set of him in order to carry them out and I'd prefer to wait for clearance.

The summer sets don't look that good and with the rumors of cancellation i'm unsure whether I want to invest in Gen 2 anymore or not.
