Factoring in price, posability, durability, paint, and accessories; does any other figure line have a chance?
I used to buy these for 7 bucks at toys r us, now my little sister has to spend twenty dollars on worse figures. is there a modern alternative?

They were great at the time but a lot of them look like weird marionettes by modern standards. Many had loose joints out of the box and I've had several that just crumbled over the years. I think they were pushing the line past the limits of the technology that existed in the 2000s.

What series of Toy Biz is /toy/'s favorite? My vote goes to Series 4. Aside from a somewhat wonky Elektra (which, again, at the time was an amazing achievement to have a female figure with such articulation), Beast, Gambit, and Punisher are still the best examples for those characters in the six inch scale. I don't particularly like Beast or Punisher as characters and I despise Gambit, but damn, this is some good work. Goliath is the weakest since he's just a rework of an old Giant Man, but he showed Toy Biz's commitment to expanding the line's horizons and besides, he was a chase figure and nobody ever found those back then anyway.

Except for price, a lot of toy lines have beat those things in all the other areas. I mean, look at the ones in the OP pic. Terrible shoulders and hips, big goofy hands with joints for no reason, giant monkey arm Juggernaut and Asian Punisher

Yeah. Because there has never ever been promotional toy images that mislead. Hell both hands will have issues. Even the left shows that the grip of the sword is too small for the sculpt.

Pretty much.

Hasbro/Paramount fucked over the retailers with the movie delay and that's why GI Joe hasn't been on most store shelves since 2013, despite it being a popular toyline.

To be fair, inflation really isn't the reason why things cost so much today. The chinese peasants revolted and got their pay raise, and got lazier than ever.

Undoubtedly, if Marvel hadn't sacrificed them for the movie-gods, Toy Biz toys today would cost under $20 and be as boss as ever.
Also, it should be noted that most Toy Biz sculptors still work with Hasbro. Some went to work with DCC, which would explain their god-tier work.
