There's speculation that the head on his chest is fake. Which, the more I look at it, the more it looks like that is indeed the case.

I'm honestly not sure if that's enough to put me off the figure or not. Normally, I'm a stickler for these kinds of things, but this guy just looks so damn GOOD

THIS.

It's accurate in both modes and I actually think it's pretty ingenious when they manage pull off things like this.

Some people believe that using fake parts it's the easiest way to acomplish a transformation, but actually most of the time this kind of shit is more difficult to design that just using the same piece in both modes. When done sparingly and in cases where it's necessary to keep show-accuracy I have zero problems with it.

Not really. Just check your currencys exchange rates to yen, and look around for which sites have a better price on the figure itself, and the actual shipping prices as well.

Masterpiece figures sometimes get a worldwise release in many other countries outside of japan, but the paint aps and colors are usually different or not as good as Takaras, and in North America especially they will get scalped to fuck and back, making finding one damn near impossible.

I can gurantee that if they do a US release of masterpiece Optimus Primal that the first day he comes out there will be dudes posting up pictures on Ebay with giant stacks of masterpiece boxes wanting double the price it is in stores. They are almost always ToysRUs exclusives, and duded either work there, or have friends there that get them whole shipments of toys. Or they just call the place every hour on shipment/delivery day to see if they came in and then rush down there and buy every single one.

I say just fuck it and order the Japanese/asian release one. It will have better paints, and be much easier to get.

You can't use the same cat head for both modes, it has been tried twice, you'll end with either a skinny chest or a huge cat head, the cgi cheated a lot.

You know, I really wish people would find a better go-to word, because it seems like most of the time someone calls something "lazy" for not doing whatever it is they think should have been done, the thing they were expecting is typically unreasonable, at best, if not outright impossible.

As nice as it is to see in rare instances when it's actually possible to pull off, there are times it simply is it, a lot of the times people expecting their transforming robot toys to be completely accurate in all modes and not cheat on any details no matter how physically impossible that is, is basically the toy equivalent of saying "I want everything in one bag, but don't make it too heavy" at a supermarket checkout.

ROTF Soundwave. he's the only Transformer I know of that has both ankle rockers AND an ab crunch.
only thing he doesnt have is a waist and wrist swivels

Lazy how? If anything it's more complex and creative than using the original cheetah head and ending up with something that looks worse. These are toys, they don't have to function like the exact model used on the show. All that matters is they look good and have good articulation without being flimsy/fragile.

Part 3 of hlj's sale is up, and some good shit is finally there, mp shockwave pissed me off at 39% because I paid full price like a dumbass thinking he was sought after, I was wrong.

Other note worthy items include pic related, I KNEW SPRUNG (springer) would end up in the sale.

Cloud hellwarp and legends deadlock are also on sale as well as the previous ones from part 1 and 2 but they're either shit or you guys knew about them.

Robot mode reveals where the paint is lacking though. There's no decepticon symbol tampos in either mode too, only that ugly sticker which i promptly removed (Thankfully they did not retool an indent for it)

Also, the extra paint made it difficult to snap on the blaster, it's just too tight. I dare not try it.

Yeah, we were pretty much screwed on having a regular green Brawl when Hasbro went with the baby poop green. Since he was that color in the show, that was what Takara was going to do all along as well. They just added some detail.

Kind of sucks since the baby poop color doesn't really look that interesting, and is so close to Blast Off's brown on the Hasbro set.

Yep. MP Primal has the same thing. In the original toy the front part of the gorilla face swung down into the chest but the MP has a more complex system where parts fold out of the chest to make it look better. Has to be the same thing here.

As others have pointed out, there's no speculation to be made – it's a fake head. The "real head" is tucked directly behind with the ears sticking out.

If this seems like a new precedent to you, just look at MP Primal. The character design obviously implies that the face flips inside out and forms the chest, but the MP toy cheats to achieve a more accurate look.

This has already been brought up, but Primal and Cheetor are setting up a consistent pattern for what to expect of MP-BW as far as cgi-accuracy, beast mode compromises, and willingness to cheat the transformation (and hopefully the water-transfer decal technique). Take it or leave it.

I've never wondered that. Movie bots are made of indistinguishable particles of broken glass and razor blades sloshing back and forth between two stable states.

Others are (or try to be) distinct, identifiable parts that shift into new positions.

Although I supposed you could say G1 is worse, because the robot modes were sometimes so simplified that you could argue they could only be made of straight liquid metal.

Everything Bayformers is a non-iconic look. Honestly, if you didn't know WHO each Bayformer was supposed to be already, you'd never fucking guess by looking at them. Hell, if you lived in a bubble and didn't know Bayformers existed, and someone showed you silent clips with no logos or any identifiers, they'd probably never guess it was Transformers.

As far as regular transmetals,Depth Charge is the most reserved. Waspinator, Cheetor, and Tarantulas are also fairly tame. Megatron,Rampage,Terrorsaur,and Scavenger all emphasize the bioorganic aspect,but arent really ugly. Rhinox and regular transmetal Optimus are really the only ugly ones.

Huh. I remember putting the cat head like that because it made it look more solid than following the cartoon model.
A shame most people don't realize the toys weren't made to follow the CGI models too closely so following the models make some of the first season toys look like shit.

How is MP-8 anyway? Decent, shit, etc. I never see anyone mention him, usually any Grimlock's talked about are the 3P ones because theres a ton of them and most are good.

Hes too short is the main issue for a lot of folks. Also hes got the weird flaily gimmick that makes his dino kinda wobbly

Looks wise those hes awesome, spot on, and the light up sword is cool imo but I know some people dont like it, especially cuz it caused him to have a fused fist

Tbh MP Grimlick works really well on a classics shelf size wise, and overall hes really fun, but there are just so many 3Ps that theres bound to be one that fits most peoples tastes more in some way

For me I have planetx Vulcan n crew for classics and waiting on giga power for MP

People like walky bitch abut g1 characters in BW, but as a kid that was some of the coolest shit ever. I'm too young for G1/G2 so I only knew of Autobots/Decepticons through Beast wars and Machine wars, but the idea of these ancient robots still fighting in a new war just seemed so cool and added so much lore to the series.I didn't even know how Grimlock sounded like until years later, but just having that bio endeared him to me a lot.

The first few TF movie lines have some of the best and most detailed. Leader Brawl stands out, though technically his tank mode isn't totally real(its loosely based off an M1 Abrams with more guns and a second turret, because its Michael Bay and all.). That said, its probably the best tank mode out of any TF all things considered.
