I actually bought four unopened g1 mask packs at the beginning of the year. It was about $40 AUD with shipping. Totally worth it. Can't find the photos i took, but i was pretty happy with the masks i got.

The packs would have been $3-5 AUD each in 1999(?), so i paid about twice the original retail price, pretty good if you ask me for a 16~ year old unopened toy.

The line getting canned seems about right. Well over half the time the sets look like garbage to mediocre at best, and mediocre sets will lead to mediocre sales. Not to mention they haven't done great with marketing, maybe then they could get stupid kids to buy shit like the skull spider or quake beast. Lego has nobody to blame but themselves, and fans could be more vocal about the declining quality rather than accept what we are getting. I shouldn't have to buy more sets/pieces to improve the quality of the ones I'm buying. Not happy the line seems to be on its death bed, but I'm not surprised.

Same with all the ones around me. And I've been checking since the 3rd. I figured they may be getting shipments in late but almost every Wal-Mart and target around me just has some uniters and beasts and a shit ton of UtH.

Finally went to my nearest Toysrus and they had all of the newest wave with only one storm beast though. All of the older sets and some uniters were on clearance. But wave 1 toa weren't which was weird.

My local Wal-Mart also did a clearance on the United wave and I got some more of the beasts for 1/2 off which was pretty neat.

Get some of those packs of display cob webs for Halloween for the Skull Spiders. The Shadow Traps could probably do the same or go on a mini shelf.

I just threw the Skull Spiders in a box and just have Skull Slicer and two more moc Skull dudes using the other two colors of Skull Spiders, though.

much as I agree, I feel like the line deserves another chance. I'd like to believe they were heading in the right direction with the inclusion of technic the last two waves, just didn't get the right results. I'm planning on ordering at least one Beast from S@H this month because I love the fountain freebie, and the sets aren't here yet either. I heard rumors that Ekimu, Umarak and LB are here next month and SB and QB maybe never. At least I got QB from Lego Store already.

Also I got one BL order today but it wasn't the one that had remaining parts for scorpio and falcon. Fucking hell.

I hope I'm not bothering anyone, but... I got the kunai, so I wanted to take a picture or two with them. I'm not 100% certain it looks good at the end of the chain, but they work quite well as weapons. Also, the scarf now has mixel joints in it to make it poseable.

That's certainly inspirational, but what I have in store is going to be thinner, the current arm I have is one module wide with an armor shell covering some of it. Also, the rib cage in the pic looks a bit overdone; there should be some blank space between the ribs and pelvic area IMO

Faber was posting some real quality shit for a while. A lot of the old concept art and details he gave were fantastic.

Plus stuff like the fucking dooheads video.

It was pretty consistent for a while and then he posted that he had found a bunch of old stuff. It settled down almost completely after, and he mentioned a meeting with Lego.

Makes me think they told him to chill out with posting so much.

That's not too surprising, considering.

Most of the Lego-themes have most of the concept art documented very well. Hell, even the G2 design team has that book of G1 stuff. But I doubt that everything is neatly organized. They could be spread all over.

But with Faber, most of it is with one guy, and a guy who had pretty strong grip to the concept. Also Bonkle is pretty important theme for Lego as a whole, despite what other people say. No one would give a rat's ass about Faber files if it were about Knight's Kingdom 2 or something

Thanks! I'm not a huge fan of trans purple, it's too cold and just kinda blends in with other colors. Plus this way there's a nice juxtaposition with Ekimu being more crystalline while Makuta is opaque.

Come to think of it, the Skull Spiders clasping onto the Skull Warriors in JTO did seem suspiciously purposeful, very directed. Perhaps by the time the Journey to One happens, Kulta is in the shadows with the Mask of Skull Spiders? It would be interesting to see the Spider/Skeleton army and the Beast hoard as two distinct factions.

Actually, they're supposed to look like some sort of golden buckles, but I can see where you're coming from. The thing is, the grey color is already used to simulate the "skin" of the character, so I needed another color. I may try black, but they're rare and expensive, and I'm not sure they would look good on the figure, so I would need someone to photoshop it for me since I suck at this. Tan may be an option, but is equally bright with no real logic behind the color, so I don't think it may be a better idea.

Thank you very much ! I do like the yellow bushings too, but I do think >>5741524 is right when saying they stand out. Since she's a ninja, it doesn't really make sense to have bright and very visible colors, even with the scarf already being dark red. There is another yellow bushing on her back to keep the net in place, but it's hidden most of the time by the scarf.

It's too bad the more recent arm build I have don't let me put them on the forearm cover, but I may try to find a way to incorporate a bit more, I'll see.

Has anyone built the Tahu/Pohatu and Kopaka/Melum/Gali combos? I don't think they're well known, but their instructions can be searched on the LEGO site.

The Kopaka/Melum/Gali combo is pretty interesting. It has some minor flaws but looks great for a combiner. The weapons are well-designed and could pass as weapons on official sets. Really the only complaint is that the shoulder pads are a little flimsy, although they look fine.

The Tahu/Pohatu combiner is fairly average. The build feels even more standard than the individual sets.

I'm pretty sure the new book will take place at about the same time JTO takes place at. Kulta and Skull Basher were imprisoned at the end of 2015's story. Ekimu probably decided to interrogate Kulta about Makuta in the time the Toa were away finding the Creatures and the Mask of Control.

That would make the most sense to me and maybe the events that will happen in the book will be somehow related to the Skull Warrior/Spider attack in the beginning of JTO. But it's all just speculation on my part but I don't think the books are still stuck in 2015.

It would be great if the extra mask wasn't actual part but like an energized version of the existing mask.

Main mask fully opaque with the toa's main color and the other fully transparent like Ekimu's and the two promo masks from 2015.

My guess is that he wanted to do a hostile take-over after the ceremony of the Mask of Ultimate Power, but since that ended with the brothers getting knocked out and the masks gone, I assume Kulta and his army just kept waiting for the signal or something until they or at least Kulta got Makuta's spirit message.

Kulta never said he carried out EVIL deeds for him before the Cataclysm, right? Just that he way fiercely loyal. We also don't know if Kulta was always a skeleman. Perhaps Makuta thought that the Protectors would be more loyal to Ekimu than himself during times of opposition, so he made an alliance with Kulta as a surrogate for their trust. That way when the Protectors preferred to follow his brother's order instead of his own, he'd still have someone to send on personal missions. Even if Makuta was never pure evil until he put on the MoUP, he was still sort of a shady character. And just because he's got a shady butler to follow suit doesn't mean he planned his island takeover from the get-go.

Personally, I imagine Kulta being some kind of occult priest in his prime, dressed in long robes which conceal his true power; a mysterious looming figure that hides in the shadows not far behind Makuta wherever he goes.

I dig visor-eyes, they're a bit exposed to my liking but both are good starts. Coming up with a good head design in that style can be difficult.
I usually use pic related more often, it makes it easier to build around. Only deviated for that model because it lent itself better for the pigtail placement.
I can give you instructions/breakdowns for that and other robo heads this weekend if interested.

Need some help for an MOC I'm working on. Is there a different way to attach a trans-red piece at the center of the claw (where the silver and trans-red piece is in pic related)? I want to put something trans-red in the center but the length of what I have there now makes it look like a dildo to me and I can't be having that. There's currently only a 1-length axle on the end. There would also need to be a trans-blue equivalent because the other claw is trans-blue instead of red (it's a Toa of Magnetism MOC).

At least translucent parts would encourage TLG to make the blades from decent plastic so they don't bend in the fucking box. I get the safety thing, but kids aren't buying G2 Bionicle. It's just us fags who liked G1. I guess the only people they need to worry about is those Russian kids. Then again, the sets they have appear to be knockoffs anyway.
