hey /toy/, I hate to make this type of thread, but I need a Batman figure and there is no DC general or something like that

so, which is the best one out of these two?

I have both, and the answer is BTAS one. If you want an animated Batman, it's a perfect representation (with hobbled articulation) and you won't find a better alternative to the animated look for a long, long time. If you want a comic Batman, the Icons isn't a great representation at all and you'd be better off waiting for DCC to make a better one.

I have seen some people complaining about broken arms on both figures, but it sounded like a hamhands case

The BTAS wrist joints are about 1/32" wide, they're really fucking small. It's one of those rare cases where hamhands isn't the problem, because swapping them is a huge gamble if you don't hairdryer it every time you want to switch. That said, I haven't had any problems with mine. But I also know that it absolutely posi-fucking-tively cannot be stored loose with other figures because something will break. Icons Batman had a lot of problems with the bicep peg shearing, but again, I have had no problems.

They fixed the BTAS/TNBA quality issues after wave 1, but some people's BTAS Batman figures have had legs break. I don't think this is as widespread as the wave 1 figure problems but it's still noteworthy.

The Phantasm two-pack Batman had that issue fixed and has a better headsculpt, but if you only want Batman, the single version should be fine as.

I don't own Icons Batman but I think he's actually Dick Grayson

The foot broke off my TNBA Batman. i never played with it for more than 10 minutes really. i left it leaning back on my shelf until 2 weeks later when it falls down, with its foot snapped off. replaced it with a revo joint, but not even that really solved his standing problem. With Icons Batman? I honestly didn't like it enough to keep it out, it went back in storage on like the second or third day. They're not fun figures to mess around with, but they look nice. I play around with the BTAS Batman on occasion, but it's more of a "find a pose and live with it" figure.

Surprisingly, the BTAS Robin is an amazingly fun figure to pose and tinker around with. If I didn't have the Robin, my enjoyment of BTAS Batman would drop substantially. I wouldn't even have it out.

You may want a stand if you're gonna keep him in the same pose for a while or keep him on a ledge. He comes with one, but it's a lot more obvious than I like stands to be.

Got Bane and Scarecrow on Tamashii ones because they're even worse to tip over.

not him, but I've had my TAS Batmen fall down from a computer tower on my desk.
No problems from impacts and they've held up to extended play.

I also recommend getting the two pack with Phantasm, if only because you get two great figures.

If you want an Icons or less stylized Batman, i'd wait for someone to make something new. The current Icons one is a manlet and everything else is movieshit or video game shit.

What Batman: TAS figure has that combination of eyes and mouth? The standard release has very uncharacteristically narrow eyes, but the Phantasm release has a weird open mouth. Is there a 3rd version of this toy that looks like this?

I feel that both of those don't make Batman any justice. They are just too protected, too powerful, almost to the point of defeating the point of Batman as an anonymous vigilante or of having any skill whatsoever.

The Arkham games are an ugly blend of Wildstorm 90's design, tacticool attempts at practical design, and over rendered texture realism. Its all very confused.But people seem to eat it up.

It's literally Harley Quinn from when she was first starting to appear in the comics. Only way to get a more accurate one is from buying DCC's lesser articulated designer series figures.

sure.

the only major issues i have with her is the ab crunch (Which has a tiny range of motion) and a lack of cut joints at the top of her ankle cuffs. she does have (stiff) rocker ankles so that helps a bit. Still, she can get into plenty of decent poses and is lightyears ahead of the old matty figure.

I don't think it's the face, because women can have chubby faces, I think it's the shoulders and ribs(?) that look way too huge to be female. Atomica didn't look nearly as bad despite having nearly identical body parts, and I think it's because her head was better proportioned to her body than Harley's. Harley's tiny head proportions make her look like a crossdressing man because it makes her torso just look bigger.
