Eh, they grow on you, once you have them in hand, just like blackarachnia. I like them, their armors/beastmodes are a bit busy, but not that far of TR, in my headcanon they look different because they were the first trying to get an organic altmode.

No. I want Takara to update my favorite character because I know they wont remove articulation or repaint other toys that look nothing like the character and pass it off as an """update""" when it's really just cost cutting.

That's the strangest part. If Takara is going to put in all this extra effort for new toolings anyways, then why not use them? I can understand not using head swaps or minor recolors, but these guys share only two molds and Takara has no straight repaints. It's just so strange and doesn't seem like a smart business move.

I'm not an out of businessman though, so I'm probably missing something. You'd think Hasbro would learn after the Prime Breakdown debacle.

I still find it weird that Hasbro finally decides to do actual hands and feet attachments, but they fuck ti all up and do it on an exclusive box set, instead of either doing it right from the beginning, or swapping all the CW stuff over to molded hands/feet and selling upgrade packs fro the previous combiners that have the feet/hands in proper colors.

How is this brain surgery to you? Hasbro gave the figures changeable poeces in case children wanted multiple pieces, or built for customibility. So things weren't set in stone and you wouldn't be stuck with just hand pieces if you wanted something, or 3 feet and one hand. And a hand that transforms into a foot is better for individual packaging as opposed to just a hand.

The boxed sets get exclusive hands because they're complete sets. Also, it's an additiomal incentive to buy them.

Then again they probably wanted to avoid having combiner kibble lying around and didn't want voyagers with extremities dangling off of them. There's just no simple solution outside of making it for collectors which ain't happening.

Our black series basically is the generations toys ie titan masters and combiner wars when you think about it

Compare them with the marvel legends line and star wars black series and that is what they are, at a distance recognizable but up close its just a toy catering to our nostalgia in an effort to hide QC, while the animated line is coming close they're far more simpler in many ways.

I buy all 4 mentioned lines as well as takara versions where possible, hasbro knows we're cheap asses who just want more shit unlike takara who know we're paying a little bit more for something better, even import cost

Our "premium" figures focus on likeness mostly but feature rougher paint apps in many cases and their joints are better hidden at the cost of poseability.

To me neca is at the top of the food chain in likeness but the cost is a bit much (and their paint apps looks hand done so its up to their OC variations to accept some of the more humanoid figures), but hasbro figures dumb down their figures to the max with sloppier paint apps (clearly a machine that's the equivalent of a makeup shotgun ala simpsons) less articulation and accessories, but their far cheaper to buy and still classed as "collectors".

Kinda, black series standarized alternative hands and heads (at least most have them), the accesory quantity isn't as much as figma standards but they try to include the important stuff (like bb8 included with Rey), some have really nice pant apps and good articulation, but there are also stinkers, still really good for its retail price.

Ah, thanks for explaining. More familiar with Japanese figures. Would love to see the US try and compete with it, but all I ever end up seeing is shit that should've just been a statue. Lot of Japanese shit proves you can have good sculpts and ridiculous articulation, yet no US business seems to have grasped that yet.

To be honest I think the black series and so forth are aimed at kids, young kids thinking they're hardcore collectors just because they got this shitty toy line that's over crowding on local shelves.

Yeah, I get that, but my point was that the MP line has always been heavy on complex engineering. Sure, you can learn from Animated and RotF's engineering and apply that to MP designs, but saying they inspired the line implies it wasn't intricate to begin with.

If you can't see how the mainlines since 07 have influenced every other aspect of TF engineering, you must really not be paying attention. MP-01 is downright simple compared to what Hasui did with the MP line.

For fucks sake, Hasui started designing things like Armada Starscream, and now he does things like MP Wheeljack and Prowl.

I find it funny people still complain about the movies when were already going into the 5th installment next year.

Oh also people who bitch about the original Leader Starscream either is trying hard to hate him or has never seen how well built it is. Seriously if you compare him to any TFs or MP that came out in the recent 3~4 years nothing can really beat it from how complicated it is to transform to the build quality.

G1 movie is good soft sci-fi wrapped in an animated music video. The G1 cartoon was made on pennies and managed to get some of the best performances out of some of the best voice actors to ever live.

The Bay movies have infinite budgets and give us some of the worst camerawork and action choreography in any film ever made, while having absolutely no redeeming qualities to fall back on.

I really hope the TF5 toyline has at least SOMETHING worth adding to a collection. I dearly love my collecting hobby, but goddamn AoE made it difficult. That was thanks to Wally Burr a very expensive hard as nails director that was attributed (true or not) as one of the reasons VA recording sessions were reduced because he was just a monster at constant retakes and screenings. Most memorable voice acting cartoons from the 80s are thanks to him and was nothing special to TF at the time.

No its not, Nightbeat is a male characters with different colors that was in the Marvel comics and Minerva was a female character for the Masterforce. Seriously the only thing that was not changed in the headmaster junior was Cab/Hosehead, Siren was darker in color than GoShuta which was white and Minerva I already mentioned above.

Bit slow today.

Not mine but one of the lucky early adopters got TR blurr, LOTS of metallic blue plastic with 2 other paint apps (the light blue and the darker blue on the shins).

I personally hate this but gives me an idea on takara's blurr's form

You can buy a 3p sword to complete the hasbro TR version or be one of the first 100 in hong kong to get a freebie (but it'll cost more), right now for me its cheaper to get the SDCC.

But if people are patient the legends MIGHT be the cheapest option after shipping if he ends up the same as unite warriors devastator

Why couldn't the cannon connection be on a rotating shell around the upper arm? Then you could have the cannon be on the front or the side while keeping the double elbow and beefing up the upper arms.

Not true. The absolute laziest thing is if they just used the same head as another figure in the wave that looks nothing like Megatron as a little robot, and even less like Galvatron because, fuck it, most of the face is going to be covered by that crown/faceplate nonsense anyway.

Then again, I'm banking on some third-party making their own versions and add-ons anyway, so whatever.

Not even that. Just mold the arm to have multiple connection points and maybe have the base of the cannon be designed to move/rotate in whatever way allows it to sit higher or lower on the arm.

The limitation is they made the heads so they can all fold and sit into cockpits, if they made the galvatron face do that on its own it may hinder itself from this arbitrary function.

Otherwise they could of avoided the need for spring loaded crowns and over reaching helmets, its all because they wanted the little head dudes somewhere to sit when transformed

Oh and the little galvatron head dude does look like megatron, infact takara's repainted it (or rather, painted it at all) specifically for that purpose

I know he does. The point was he was lazily done because, at least in part, he is almost completely unpainted. MY point was that it would be even lazier if he didn't look like Megatron or Galvatron at all, and was just a straight recolor of another headmaster in the line.

Theres just plain better 3P reps of other characters is what it comes down to. Just like no one has really ever nailed a GOOD gun Megatron figure. Theres been attempts, and good ones, but something always falls short and the transformations are always shit. Closest so far is DX9's Legends size Megs, who actually doesn't have a full retard transformation, but again, falls just short of the mark.

If hasbro's came with a gun I'd of stuck to it, nope, refunded that shit (tempted to sneak away emissary but my conscious got the best of me, no way they would of noticed something stuck in fort max's neck being missing) and switched to sdcc.

Emissary's head is probably going to be the most unique head, exclusive to the shittiest version, is g1 american cartoon accurate, and doesn't have to contend with fuzzy face molding

The SDCC shit mystifies me. It's a fucking con. You get information months in advance now thanks to leaks. Nothing there is gonna be worth going to see that you won't see online as it happens. Prices will be jacked through the roof because floor space is expensive so all dealers jack up their prices.

the canon's not actually bad. If they made a canon mount that allowed it to plug in to the side OR the front of the bicept, it would be fantastic.
The biggest problem is the head.

I'm pretty sure the main point was to have all the heads be interchangable, so if you lost a head, you can buy a replacement of any character and it wouldn't hinder it.
the voyagers and leaders especially, since it's really only the face that shows.
