I like it, but its easily the one I would call my worst because the transformation is thoroughly unenjoyable, and its a barely-fixed version of an already un-masterpiecey un-starscreamy mold, it cost me an arm and a leg to get the asian exclusive and all I find myself doing is waiting for an entirely-new V3 of masterpiece Seekers to get and replace it.

The best part of this figure is dreaming of when I can have something else in its spot, and sell it on.

I get entirely why he recieves so much hate, but I can't help but love the guy

His articulation is weird and bad, his bot mode looks way too skinny, his alt mode is basically HALF an alt mode, and the top of it doesn't even fit together properly [on my copy at least], but for whatever reason I just love the weird little bastard.

Worst transformer I own is a tie between Prime Prowl and Thrilling 30 Bumblebee w/ Blazemaster

Prowl is a pain in the fucking ass to transform into car mode because of those arms.

Bumblebee can't even stand up straight because his own accessories make him too top-heavy, he has virtually no heel, and his knees are ridiculously limited compared to what was released alongside him in that wave and since then.

It's a bit of a run on sentence, but I think he simply finds it odd to spend the money to retool Blurr into Brainstorm and only release the mold as exclusives. This is further compounded by Brainstorm being a remold in the first place at all (as he is one of the iconic original Headmasters).

Reuse of the same mold at least twice is pretty much now the rule at Hasbro. So they had to come up with one for Blurr for him to get a toy and I guess Devcon is too obscure to qualify.

I have had incredibly low expectations for TR. I have been saying from the get go when they showed Skullcruncher/Galvatron at Toyfair that they were going to be absolute shit.

And instead Titans Return has blown my expectations out of the water. Give me the original 4 Headmasters (with decent molds), Astrotrain + Legends Wheelie/Brawn/Bee/Cliffjumper and I'll be happy.

- Design is closely based off a pre-existing toy, MR-29 UFO Robo of the Machine Robo toyline, a male or non-gendered toy(they didn't really have much of a storyline). Most of the designs were straight off the toy designs.
- an alien female turned cyborg(all GoBots were cyborgs), I don't think we ever saw their original forms for ANY of the characters.

Arcee:
- Created for the Transformers movie with no pre-existing toy.
- Most of the Transformers were made to be more humanoid/organic than their toys made them out to be.

The two are incredibly different design-wise, comparing them is like saying apples and oranges should be the same because they're both warm-colored fruit.

Maybe because they were originally created to compliment a smaller humanoid species, or just humanoid species in general. That would certainly explain why Cybertronians who prefer something different, like Fixit (wheels instead of legs) or Airrachnid (multiple spider legs) are rare exceptions to the general rule.

And the real problem here is that idea was retarded and forced into the canon for IDW by Furman, who has always wanted Transformers to conform to his idea that there are no females, and none of the editors slapped his shit for this retarded idea.

Unfortunately, the damage had been done, Arcee is forever a psychotic tranny, but they recton'd the "no female transformers" thing, which only serves to make the whole Arcee thing look even worse because now there always were female TF's, Jhiaxus was just being an asshole.

that kind of thing works for things that are actually mass produced like Zakus, but Transformers in most continuities aren't mass produced, they're created at random from the allspark or some shit.

They can augment themselves and change alt modes, but the core of their bodies and functions seems to be pretty consistent.

For instance a character that is typically a land vehicle wouldn't be able to adopt a flying mode.

So having uniform parts would be hard.

There are some instances of it working though, like the G1 seekers canonically all choose to look like the same mode, and the Prime Vehicons as stated.

But for the whole species it wouldn't really work

Nah. FoC Prime and Magnus were simple but good little figures, and as much as I dislike Soundwave's gimmick he's pretty solid. The combiners all have the combining gimmick to salvage them, even though they aren't great individually. The Seekers are alright too, and Fireflight is awesome.

It was definitely an awkward period from the franchise but only a couple cab legitimately be considered some of the worst ever.

Man, the sheer "playability" of this line has completely won me over. They're just good fun. And pretty solid designs.

But it also guys a lot of sweet spots for me anyway because I love figures with cock pits, bases, and tiny figures. Honestly I hope we see some actual playsets beyond figures turning into bases, maybe a fold out ark like that one movie set.

the only problem with Magnus I have is that there's an issue with the knees where folding the knees into robot mode puts pressure on the plastic and can cause it to stress, which makes it not hold.

I returned two Magnuses before I got two working legs for mine. Plus his hands can't hold his guns.

I just threw away half a cubic yard of abandoned toy-modding projects I was never going to finish and put another half a cubic yard of nerf/role-play toys with some stuff to give away to a thrift store.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Hard yellow plastic in general can be pretty bad. For example, I wanted to cover the speaker slots on this toy. The yellow vinyl I bought was a perfect match... for the limbs. The torso is a harder plastic that lets the dark inside show through so a square or strip wouldn't quite do it. In this case I worked the long process of cutting a full decal to cover the whole pelvis. It's not 100% perfect since I had to do it by hand with multiple tries(you can see where that one bit doesn't go quite to the edge of the area), but the best I'll get without a die cutter and more time.

Agreed the two guns should be able to come off, you can put it on his back, but the direction is inaccurate to how it is on every other brainstorm, and I imagine if it's possible to rotate, it'll be too high up to look good.

While the nose guns not being removable is the only thing that annoys me about Brainstorm, I'm pretty sure Blurr's nose comes off to be a little ship/turret like Skullsmasher's tail. As someone who actually owned G1 Brainstorm as a beloved childhood favourite, I fail to see the problem with this figure.

The altmode is pretty much a dead ringer for the original, save for the single dorsal fin, instead of the twin aft fins.

I'm honestly super excited. Voyager Brainstorm didn't tickle the right spots, but if I just re-use the guns from that one, this one should be perfect.

Is Optimal Optimus an alright figure? I think I can grab one for $20, sort of.
One lot just has the figure whereas another has the figure missing its robot head, and that total comes to $20. I can maybe trade-off the remaining parts, and possibly have to hunt for its accessories. Would this be worth it? I've heard the plates/panels could be frustrating but it seems like an imposing figure. Should I just be satisfied with a 25-anniversary Unicron, or try and piece this together as well?

I have owned two of them. Pic related is my old one from like 2007.

It's show accurate and in good scale. I never cared for it though. It's my least favorite of Primal's 4 bodies. On the other hand, GEEWUNNERS seem to love it. I don't know why.

Not worth it to me.

Btw, I've owned an Armada Unicron too. It's Unicron, but I didn't care for it either. Ended up selling it and have zero regrets.

It's a fine representation of Unicron, so there are no downsides with regard to that. I just wasn't a big enough fan of the character to justify owning it. To me it was one giant nerdy piece of plastic that I felt sort of embarrassed about owning. Like, I can defend my Beast Wars collection and my old masterpieces to my parents, but I can't defend Unicron. That's just me though.

Different anon here but for me the biggest downside of the Armada Unicron mold is the hand and head gimmick of the toy and that you can't do anything with the legs cause 1 click outwards is really horrible and that it doesn't really have a thigh swivel but a knee swivel instead so posing him is a bitch.

Also Gen Metroplex isn't that too overpriced if you look at its scarcity since people actually used him for customs so a clean Metroplex is starting to be a bitch to find and how much manufacturing it again will cost. Same for the Takara Reissue of G1 Fort Max, surprisingly enough when the original came out back in 1986, it was worth $100 and that adjusted for inflation was surprisingly the cost of it retail when it was reissued.

Main point is shit is expensive yo and you always have to adjust for inflation to see if you are paying more or less.

Power levels don't win me over. The character has to touch me in some way. Without nostalgia, Unicron just doesn't do that. He is no Optimus Prime.
