If you don't like the variant art style, I won't argue. Hey, its about taste and you're entitled to yours.
As for scale, yes its a big sore point about PAK. They can't even keep the scale consistent amongst themselves.
With SE's monopoly on these characters and IPs, I doubt we'd see the license being passed on to the likes of MF or Bandai. But hey, if Nintendo softened up over the years, I would still hold out a little hope.
