Very high. It might be in a 2-in-1 set like SG vs MM or the Kopaka Unity Set. It might also be a polybag, with the new black Mask of Fire as the incentive.

The purple and gold Makuta has got to be the official one. The outright state the other designs were made by them and an intern and I you look, they are all comprised of pre-existing pieces sans the Emperor's cloth pieces. But we're obviously not getting that one because the bone chair and he's just wearing the MoCo.

The purple hulk-chest one has the most official looking construction. He has new stickers on his staff and thighs while neither of the red ones do. He possesses what look to be new skirt armor in warm gold on his hips. And again, the new purple cloth pieces. Maybe it won't be as big but it's obvious that the real set will take from the purple and gold one's design heavily. Saying it'll be either of the red ones is retarded. Also, his Mask Maker form is clearly just a fanbuild, he even has studs instead of the actual sixshooter ffs.

You know, comparing Overlord Makuta to the Tohunga, he doesn't look that tall after all. Sure, he's a big guy, but try imagining there's a Toa next to him. He's definitely taller than Umarak the Destroyer, but I don't think he's as tall as Grievous. Which is only a good thing, as it increases the chances of him being able to be sold as an official set.

Lego sets are in development around a year and a half before release, usually more when it's an in-house theme. If Makuta of Ultimate Power was to be released in 2017, they wouldn't hold a contest half a year before release because they got cancelled.

The jto wasn't finished recently according to Volta. It's been done for about two months now.
And they couldn't be able to even produce the model in the show before these existed. If they decided to cancel Bionicle' next year the decision would had come somewhere around May if not earlier so they wouldn't even had any molds to show really.

The one on the left (the JTO model) looks like it could be a combiner between a bunch of different things.

I think it exclusively takes bits and pieces from LoSS, Uniter Tahu, Creature of Fire (plus the trap), Uniter Onua, Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder, Umarak the Hunter, and Umarak the Destroyer.

Someone should test this theory, disassemble those sets, and see if they can make this.

I was gonna build something in advance but I don't know if they're accepting applicants with G1 parts.

I figure they would, but it would be a bit unfair to all the people who got into it after G1.

Also, color schemes? I don't want to make a generic edgy makuta. Maybe purple, black, and green?

You are missing the point entirely. The beef is with Eljay's attitude on the matter. It's not a big secret that with no restrictions on size and an unlimited amount of pieces, you can create whatever vague shape you want. It takes no skill, only a massive investment of time and money, which only rabid fans like Roa are willing to commit. Adding to this, entries like those often overshadow smaller MoCs that don't use half of the existing parts library and have a more centralized focus than "add as many parts until it looks like something"

This was the core of my issue on the matter. Hey Ausfags (and Kiwis), if any of you were optimistic about getting the sets, might want to consider their not in our catalog for June-December. Skull Fuckers were in the catalog last year, so we might not be getting this wave. Skull fuckers were also not out until August though so maybe hold off on doom and gloom for a couple of days.

And to international fags, this wouldn't reflect on your home markets because constraction has had a week presence here since the start of Hero Factory. Bionicle's done a lot better than that did in its last couple of years. If it's doing well where you are, it's fine, don't worry about it.

To be honest when I make a moc I have an idea of its character + the real life.

EG heaps of pieces would suit a strong dumb character however a smarter character would suit a more sleek design.

However theres an upper limit when it comes to looking realistic.

It's possible that TLG doesn't enforce part limits in official competitions because it would be very hard for kids to keep track of the numbers.

Maybe an actual size restriction would be better. Make sure your figure is no taller than X inches. Provide an image of the MOC next to a ruler to verify.

The difference with the blue MOC is that I can see the basic details of the creature. Most fuckhuge MOCs like the red one just look like a mess of colours. I shouldn't have to consciously work out where the legs or head are.

It'd probably be best if they had more refined criteria for the judges, and included 'economy' as one of them.

To give an example of how that could work, a big parts monster could gain major points in the visual appeal category for looking impressive, but then suffer a significant drop in the economy category for not making efficient use of parts and straying too far from what an 'official' build might look like.

Sort of like how in academic work you'd get marks for having a good argument, but then lose marks for being too wordy and pointlessly overshooting your limits.

I think the mask contest was a good example of a well done contest. Sure the winner would still be someone who has a lot of parts, but the disparity wasn't nearly as big as the winner of the Villain contest's entry. The people who won the Mask contest were the people who used those parts to make coherent designs, designs with a recognizable look / silhouette that you could likely draw from memory if need be.

It's not yet totally official but considering Makuta is giving a speech to a bunch of shadow villagers, and all that was left after the shockwave was a gigantic crater where the capital used to be, I think it's safe to assume that is was transported to a pocket dimension.

Again, it's been established that the city that the great crater used to be was the island's capital. And now Makooti is looming over a balcony with the word "Capital" carved into the building. Just putting the pieces together.

They look just like the JtO version so I'd assume they're the final version. The detailing seems to be muddled because they're either 3D printed or hand painted tho. So hopefully we'll see runes added and more definition on things like the divides in the ring-crest on his forehead.

I love that, like with the Toa, they're referencing G1 a lot, like the black protector with the black Mask of Fire, Makuta being able to shapeshift, him being called a Shadow Titan, the wings, etc, while adding new staff like the MoUP symbol (reminds me of the symbols Makuta and Takanuva got during 2003) and the purple and gold.

I originally thought that Ekimu was going to give the Toa new mask powers for their 2016 forms, and that they would play a more prominent role in helping defeat Makuta. This was supported by the official website saying that some skull spiders have special powers like X-ray vision, super speed, and enhanced strength. They could possibly still go this route, since we see skull spiders in JtO, but it's most likely not gonna happen.

G1 never did anything for Me. I gave them a shot back in 2008 or 2009 with Skrall and Tuma, and wasn't all that impressed. I was always more of microfig fan, anyway.

I picked up Skull Basher on a whim since he was marked down 50%, and he just clicked. Skull Warriors are awesome as giant fantasy terminators, and the giant devil terminator of Skull Grinder was something I never knew I needed until I got him. Ekimu was a pleasent surprise, being a smaller but awesome little guy. I'm tempted to go back and get some of the other protectors. I'm in love with Kulta, even if both Umaraks are better builds. I even had to get a gold skull mask for Kulta.

The Toa don't do anything for Me, though.

I'm all for experiencing the best of G1. What do you recommend?

2002 is my favorite, though (The Bohrok, the Bahrag Queens, the Exo Toa, and the Boxor). A lot of the titans from 2005-2007 are top notch as well.

2001-2003 are considered "the golden years" and it really shows, especially in the departments of creativity and having a unique tribal atmosphere, among other really nice things (mostly courtesy of the mata nui online game). The figures really don't have any posability in these years, like, at all. Instead, the focus is put on function.
I wasn't really there to experience the golden years in full, but I do think they are the best years.
After the golden years, stuff gets really complicated plot and lore-wise. The figures continue to retain function, but completely lose any gear related functions in 2006 (so glad G2 brought them back).
I don't blame you for disliking 2008 and 2009; not many people really liked those years anyway.
G1 was always a lot more mature and developed than G2 has been (and probably will continue to be).
If you only really care about sets, might as well stick with G2, but if you have some extra cash then just get a bohrok. Everyone loves the bohrok.

I was lucky enough to find the tarakava, makuta, and the barahg for a total of around $25 on kijiji. The tarakava were missing their jaws, but I was still really grateful, and I bought some other stuff from the same guy later.
Basically, if you have kijiji in your country, check it. That wasn't the only time I found a good deal.

Despite the fragile pieces, I really liked 2008 actually. The final battle story and "apocalypse countdown" were pretty tense and I really think people give the Phantoka/Mistika a harder time than they deserve JUST because of their ill resemble to the Nuva. A few of the Makuta are really great and inspired designs as well, and the Axalara, Jetrax, and Swamp Strider are especially impressive vehicles.

Honestly the one of the only positive outcomes of Bionicle's possible cancellation again is what might happen to TTV/BZP. I can see TTV devolving into just random podcasts about RL junk, and their message boards losing users until irrelevancy(that's assuming a new constraction IP they don't latch onto doesn't come around). BZP on the other hand I can totally see becoming a mini Eurobricks by expanding their system forums, and dropping the Bionicle theme completely.

With Ekimu dead and Makuta seemingly unstoppable, the Toa sacrifice their Uniter powers to create a Toa Seal. Makuta is trapped and the Toa revert to their weaker Master forms. The story ends with the Protectors and Toa at the Temple of Time trying to summon their half of the Mask of Time, hoping that it might allow one of them (probably Tahu) to go back and prevent Makuta from forging the MoUP because screw time travel logic.

Seems like it. Which raises the question how exactly this fits together with the Skull Raiders.
Did they originally come to Okoto from the shadow realm? Were the skellies in the ancient city part of the raiders or summoned fresh from the other world?
Will any of this even be addressed when it's only relevant to people who have read one particular book that isn't part of the main story? (Spoiler: No.)

The only summer Bionicle sets I've seen in my area are summer 2015 ones with a slight reduction. I remember a couple of months ago, there were winter 2015 sets at full price in some places with 'new' stickers on them.
