Right now Hasbro pays an effective 30% tax rate.
If that was cut even in half, (for say, tax cuts for companies based on how many people they employ in the US) then the costs could come way down.
If the corporate tax rate goes up (hillary's plan) then we'll probably see figures get even more cheaply made, or prices will jump up, or Hasbro will move out of the US (which seems absurd)
If they ever get to the point where the only thing keeping them from paying 50% in taxes is their investment losses, (this is more or less what some politicians want) then you can bet that absolutely everything that's not making a profit hand over fist will go away.
That means show toylines (and shows themselves) will get canned after only 2 seasons unless they are really great, and the generations line will come more into the collectors price point (which, for me, means I'll start importing takara stuff)
It's silly when you say it, but elections really do have real world consequences, even if those consequences are just how much we pay for toys.
